Roman could feel Virgil's eyes burning into his side. He shifted uncomfortably, turning to the other. Their eyes met, the sudden contact making him turn away. He could sense every emotion Virgil was feeling. His eyes filled with pain and regret.
He wasn't oblivious. He knew Virgil liked him. No, he knew he loved him. He knew Virgil wanted him back. Only one glance and every secret spilled. That's why Roman hardly looked at him. Why he only offered small smiles, why he swiftly turned when their eyes met.
He knew each glance hurt them both more. He knew each smile and playful banter made their hearts break even more. He knew every accidental touch burned a stronger craving into them both. A craving Roman didn't want to feel, for he wasn't in love.
Roman knew it hurt Virgil more. Roman knew they should talk about it to get this over with. Roman knew it wasn't fair to Virgil. It wasn't fair to Logan. It wasn't fair to himself.
He just needed to end this once and for all. He needed to ensure Virgil didn't feel anymore pain. Even if he didn't love him, he still cared. It sounds horrible, but it's true.
Roman carefully picked up Logan's hand, running a finger over his knuckles. He wanted to enjoy this moment, but he felt the piercing stare. So he looked at Virgil. Only to see tears in his eyes.
