Office slipping

Caregiver! Janus

Little! Logan

Note: Logan is slightly out of character because he is very stressed in this- and well, everyone has their breaking points.

-------

Logan typically sees himself as independent and capable, intelligent, hard-working, not one to do things half-assed, but even he grows stressed at workloads at times.

It was another Wednesday, he sat at his identical desk to the row he was in and typed at his identical computer. He wears a dark blue button-up shirt with a tie that has different shades of blue and purple. He's also wearing khaki pants, not a wrinkle in sight. He had fallen a bit behind as of late because of personal matters with his mother, who had fallen ill. Luckily, she is recovering, but Logan still had to catch up. He typed away at his plain black keyboard, his lips pulled into a straight line, dark circles beginning to develop underneath his eyes. Empty coffee cups surrounded him, his station not as organized or clean as he usually keeps it. He didn't have time, he had to catch up.

His tense shoulders relaxed a bit as he got another report sent on in, and he continued, that was until his eyes began wandering. His gaze fell on the pretty colors of sticky notes he owns. He had made the impulsive decision of buying colorful sticky notes rather than the regular yellow ones, with this distraction, he's regretting such a decision.

He cleared his throat a little and sat taller, fixing the mistakes he had made, before continuing. His gaze continued to shift to his sticky notes, and before he knew it, he was doodling on them. Stress is never a fun thing, but Logan has a fun way to relieve stress, a solution he was not ready to bring into the public eye, so, when he caught himself he decided to excuse himself to the bathroom to splash a bit of cold water in his face.

On the way, his shoulder hit another, causing him to stumble a bit. He didn't know what had come over him, however, irritation set in and he couldn't help himself when he turned to the other. "Watch it!"

His snappy tone came as a surprise to both of them, especially Logan when he realized who he had snapped at.

"Excuse me?" Came the cool and collected, yet firm, tone of Janus Daniels, aka, his boss.

Logan felt himself grow pale, his stomach dropping at the sight of him, a lump forming in his throat as he stuttered nervously. "M-Mr. Daniels I-"

"My office Logan, ten minutes."

Logan felt a whine leave his throat, only surprising the pair further. He flushed at his slip up and he immediately nodded furiously. "Yes sir!" He squawked before rushing away to the original destination he was aiming for.

As he arrived at the vacant bathroom, he huffed softly, turning on the sink before splashing his face with cold water, taking off his rectangular glasses beforehand of course. He breathed in deeply, water dripping from his face, some parts of his hair damp as well.

"Come on Logan," He hisses to himself. "Stop embarrassing yourself!"

He stood tall, attempting to appear confident in the mirror, and wiped his face off with a paper towel before heading out, ignoring his increasing heart rate. As he arrived at his boss' door, he knocked lightly, earning himself a slight muffled yet bold "Come in!"

Swallowing once more, he turned the knob and stepped in, being brave enough to make eye contact with cold eyes. He shut the door behind him and strides towards his desk, sitting at the provided chairs in front of his desk. Suddenly, he felt like a naughty child in front of their principal.

"Logan," Logan almost whimpered at his name, he was slipping, and the man wasn't helping with his firm tone. "Your attitude earlier was unacceptable, even if it wasn't intended, or rather intended towards me, it being aimed at anyone is unacceptable and I refuse to have that kind of behavior in my office." He lectures, hands intertwined on top of his desk. He spoke easily, as if rehearsed, which only intimidated the man further. "That being said," He adds before suddenly softening his voice a little, startling Logan more than when he had been firm with him. "Is everything alright? This isn't like you."

Logan shifts a bit, his hands trembling slightly, the soft tone made him want to crumble, all the stress from the last couple of weeks bubbling up. "U-Uh yes I just um, had a bad couple of weeks," He stutters out unintelligently, cringing at his words. He was terrible at hiding this, he needed to leave, he needed to get away from not only this office but this man.

Janus hums, it felt like he was staring into Logan's soul. Logan shifted uncomfortably and played with his tie unconsciously.

Janus stated silent for a moment before leaning back. "I see, would you like to talk about it?" He offers. "It might make you feel better."

Logan bit his lip at the offer, Janus's voice was so comforting and sweet, he seemed intimidating, but Logan just wanted to crumble and be comforted by that voice, the entirety of the last few weeks weighing down on him like a ton of bricks.

"I..." He starts, his little side pushing so intensely. He couldn't help but whine quietly again, causing Janus to raise an eyebrow.

"You're awfully whiney, maybe someone needs a nap?" He suggests, not even a sprinkle of teasing in his tone, completely serious as he stared at Logan who wiggled and whimpered.

Silently, Janus swiftly and wheeled over to Logan, tugging him on his lap. Logan squirmed at first, his cheeks burning, though, as he felt the man's hand on his back, rubbing at it gently, he relaxed and his eyes fell close. He gripped at his shirt, his embarrassment simmering. He felt so overwhelmed with everything in his life, and as if Dee had wrung it out of him, Logan felt tears come to his eyes.

He didn't cry loudly, in fact, he didn't make a sound besides a few sniffles. Janus didn't push him, he merely rubbed at his back comfortingly, humming a quiet tune.

As the tears began to dry up, Logan buried his face in the man's shoulder, mostly in embarrassment. If someone had told him this morning that this is where he would be in just a few hours, he would have laughed in their face, and yet, here he is, curled up on his boss' lap, his face stained with dried tears. However, he couldn't seem to care.
