Drawing

Regressor! Virgil
Caregivers! Janus and Patton

---

Waxy, bright colors circled a piece of drawing paper, nearly every color out of the crayon box used to fill the paper, a certain little spider focused on creating a portrait. Creativity tended to drift towards Roman, Remus, and hell, even Patton, with his jewelry! If he stretched, maybe Janus, with his theatrics. In the end, next to Logan, Virgil never considered himself much of a creative man. There and now, he sat determined, though, coloring a nice picture. Today was the day. He'd give Patton the picture and tell him he regresses. He could do it.

As his picture came to a finish, he set his dull crayon down, halfway used, and admired his picture. It isn't perfect, messy, but he figured all the colors would be a nice touch. Patton likes colors.

He shakily stood up, wearing his signature hoodie, and glanced at the little black cat sitting on his bed, tail lazily swaying against his sheets. She perks up briefly at his stare and tilts her head, and Virgil bites his lip.

"What if he hates it?" He thinks aloud to her, picking the drawing up with a worried frown. "And what if...what if he thinks I'm weird?" He chokes out, his chest suddenly feeling a bit tight and his eyes brimming with tears. His little cat meows softly, sitting up and staring. Sniffling, Virgil heads over, gently reaching a hand out to have her knock her fuzzy head against his knuckles, purring softly. Her whiskers tickle in skin, and he cracks a smile through his tears.

"Thanks, Luna," He whispers quietly. "Gonna do it okay? I am." He insists with a little nod and peers over at the door. "Patton will understand, Gotta tell him. Maybe Lo would...but..." Virgil trails off, his cheeks dusting pink. "Wanna tell Pat," he choked out, fidgeting with his hoodie a bit while Luna knocked her head against his knuckles again, almost encouraging him, and Virgil nods. "Okay, Imma do it." He tells her, beginning to walk towards his door. "Just rip it off like a bandaid-"

BAM

Virgil yelps loudly, jumping nearly six feet off the ground as his door slams open, his eyes widening. Luna shoots up, hissing loudly at the intruder. Remus stood tall, grinning wide with messy hair, some of it thrown into a couple of braids while the rest was left untamed. His face flashed with glee, and Virgil watched it flicker for a moment with confusion as he peered around the room.

"Why do you-"

"Get out!" Virgil hisses, getting over his initial shock, his shoulders tense while he moved to push Remus out. He only used one hand, the other reserved to shoot behind his back and hide his colorful drawing from the prying wide eyes. Remus barely seemed phased by his weak pushing and peered behind his back curiously.

"The fuck are you hiding?" He laughs, easily making a grab for it while Virgil flushed and tried to desperately to snatch it back.

"Remus! Give it!" He hisses, kicking his calf roughly while he easily kept him at arms length, looking over his colorful drawing of Patton, his cheeks burning as he gave a loud, amused cackle.

"This is so lame! It's kinda fucking cute. What's with all the kid shit anyway?" He asks while tears of frustration build up in Virgils eyes, his hands balling into fists.

"Give it back!"

"Honestly," a silky smooth voice drawled, interrupting the two. "Remus can't you go two seconds without tormenting someone?" Janus sighs, drifting into Virgils room while Virgils chest begins to tighten, his breathing picking up a bit. He shrunk away a little, hugging over his stomach protectively while Luna snarled, getting low.

"It's fun," Remus snickers, holding out the picture, much to Virgils dismay. "Besides, look at this!"

Janus takes the picture and admires it a bit, his lips curling into an amused smirk. "This is cute," He muses while Virgil sinks further into his hoodie. "Patton, hm?"

"Give it back," Virgil whines for the hundredth time, his voice cracking a bit, having to blink back tears. "It was stupid- just give-"

"It's not stupid," Janus' voice is oddly soft, and Virgil hated how it caused a comforted warmth to wash through him. Janus' eyes seemed to dart across his desk, noting all the childish items scattered, and yet said nothing on the topic, and swiftly grabbed Remus by his ear, earning a loud whine.

"Hey!"

"How about," Janus' voice easily overpowers Remus' whines. "I take you to see Patton, hm? I'll get Remus tied down somewhere-" Janus ignores Remus' eyebrow wiggle. "And we'll go, hm? After all, such a magnificent work of art can't stay hidden, can it?" Janus muses, delicately handing it back to Virgil, watching as he desperately snatched it away and held it to his chest, his head tilted down while he bit his lip and gave a weak shrug.

"I'll be back in a few moments little spider. Sit tight." Janus sings, gently holding a finger out to Luna, who had calmed down just a tad and swiped at him anyway, albeit weakly. Janus pulled his hand back anyway, respecting the little cats wishes, but as she didn't immediately maul him, he took it as a good sign. He didn't wait for a response before he dragged Remus away, leaving Virgil to comprehend what the hell just happened. His regressed brain raced, and he could barely contain his emotions, his bottom lip trembling.

It hadn't gone awful, Janus seemed supportive, Remus is an idiot, but he wanted to tell them on his terms, and now they both knew! He didn't want them to know so soon! He choked back a sob and sat on his bed, allowing the drawing to drift to the floor while he laid and curled up, a few tears slipping down his cheeks. He didn't know what to do, too overwhelmed. Luna trailed over, laying against his knee, and Virgil hiccuped, slipping his thumb past his lips, indulging in the comfort. He sucked furiously, burying himself into his hoodie, his other hand reaching down to lightly pet Luna's head. It wasn't long before there was a gentle yet firm knock at his door, and he whined lowly. He didn't bother to respond. He knew who it was. At least Janus had the decency to knock.

His suspicions were confirmed as he heard those same heeled boots click against his floor. He could hear them stop right before his bed. After a bit of shuffling, the drawing slipped over his body and rested within eyesight.

"Dear," His voice unfairly sent a shiver up his spine, hiccuping around his thumb. "I think Patton will find the drawing lovely. It's awfully cute. Come now, you were just on your way, weren't you? I assure you, there will be no more interruptions." He urges, his tone remaining gentle. He would only push a tad but never crossed the line. He's known Virgil for ages and knew that sometimes he needs the push.

Virgil knows he is right. Patton would like it. Maybe. But now his eyeshadow is all smudged and his thumb feels right sitting in his mouth, and everything is too much and-

A dark purple pacifier hovers in front of him, and Virgil finally peeks up with wet eyes.

Janus smiles back at him. Not a smirk. No malicious or devious intent. He just smiles, warm and soft. His body is crouched over him slightly, and Luna cowers, giving a low, warning growl. She eases up as Virgil hesitantly reaches for the pacifier, replacing his thumb for it with warm cheeks.

"There we go," Janus soothes."I bet that's much better now, hm? Now, how about we go find Patton? I'll be with you every step of the way." He assures him, standing up all again, watching as Virgil turns and sits up, slow and cautiously. He reluctantly grabs at his drawing and sniffles, rubbing at his stained cheeks with his sleeve.

"S'stupid," He mumbles, sad and anxious as he fiddles with it.

Janus only clicks his tongue and lightly helps him to his feet, taking his free hand in his. "Now, that's just silly. He'll love it." He reassures, not allowing Virgil to think on it further and guides him off out of his room, walking in front of him, of course. Virgil anxiously peered around, watching for anyone else to walk out, admiring the way Janus took confident strolls ahead of him.

They ended up in the kitchen doorway, Virgil effectively hiding behind Janus and half burying himself into him. Janus doesn't comment on this and instead stares ahead, watching as Patton hummed a light tune, stirring a pot of something, his hips swinging with the gentle song in his head. Janus smirks, amused, and clears his throat, watching as he startles a bit. He turns around quickly, his cheeks going a bit pink.

"Oh hi, Janus!" He croaks out, admittingly embarrassed at being caught. "What can I do for you, kiddo?"

"I'm older than you, Patton," Janus reminds him, though fondness was clear in his voice before he shook his head, not wanting to stray away from the topic. "It isn't me who needs something. As a matter of fact, it's Virgil." He tells him, the man in question clinging tighter at the sound of his name.

Pattons eyebrows furrow, concern immediately lacing his features. "Oh no! Is everything alright?" He asks, frowning at him while Janus hums softly.

"Yes, yes, he's a bit anxious, but he has something to give you," Janus reveals, taking a step forward so they would linger in the kitchen now and gently tried to step aside so Virgil would peek out, and yet he seemed determined to hide away against him."Virgil, you can't give Patton your drawing like that, can you?" Janus urges him gently while Patton softened, stepping away from the stove for a moment. It needed to boil for a bit anyway and begins stepping forward.

"Kiddo?" He calls, and his voice just melts Virgil from the inside out. It wasn't fair. It was so easy for Patton to just- just use his voice on him! Janus did it, too, and he hated it.

Slowly, he unclenched Janus' jacket and let him guide him out by his hand and avoided Pattons face, clinging to his drawing still. His cheeks burn under his gaze, wanting the ground to swallow him up, his fingers trembling a bit. Patton doesn't comment on the pacifier bobbing in his mouth, sharing a brief stare with Janus. He smiles, though, allowing a soft coo to slip past his lips.

"I see you have a drawing, kiddo," Patton sings, excitingly eyeing it, and Virgil swallows a bit.

"S'dumb," He murmurs past the pacifier, moving to hide away again, too embarrassed and anxious to face him, but Patton just moves to gently cup his face, causing him to flush more if possible.

"Well, now that's just silly!" He gushes, parroting what Janus had told him. "I bet it looks amazing!" He chirps and Virgil can't help but tilt into his warm hands cupping his face, biting hard at the nub of his pacifier. He sounded so sure. So sure in him.

"M'tried," he choked out pathetically. Patton only smiles and moves his hand down to grip the edge of it. Slowly, Virgil releases the drawing and fidgets as he looks it over. He gasps a little, and Virgil frowns, immediately taking a step away and whining, but Patton hurried to reassure him.

"Wait! No, honey, it's so cute!" He squeals, hugging it close to him, genuinely touched. "It was a good gasp! A cute gasp! A casp!"

Virgil wrinkles his eyebrows a little, though a shy giggle slips past his lips while Janus smirks at the scene.

"Casp isn't a word," Virgil claims past the pacifier, fidgeting with his sleeves a bit. "You really like it?"

"So much!" Patton chirps, moving towards the fridge with it.

Virgil watches curiously as he easily hangs it up with a few fridge magnets and flushes darker as Patton beams a bit. "There we go!"

"Right where it should be," Janus smoothly agrees, grinning at Virgil, who buries his face into his hands, whining again.

"A true work of art!" Patton giggles. "You did so good, kiddo!"

"Thanks," Virgil squeaks before turning on his heel and hurriedly rushing out of the kitchen, a bit overwhelmed and very flustered. Neither try and stop him, and the minute he's gone, Patton turns to Janus with his hands over his heart, almost melting into a puddle right there and then."That was the cutest, sweetest, most adorable sight I've ever seen!" He cries out, and Janus snorts but glances back at the doorway fondly.

"Yes," He agrees, his tone far too gentle for his liking. "It was."
