Before we begin, thank you to Daniel who already made some time for this interview. Thanks, it's not enough actually but I'm so glad that I can meet and know you Daniel. Let's begin the interview, shall we?

It feels like we should know each other first right? May I know what's your full name and your pen name? Is there any special reason why you chose that pen name?

➡️ My name is Danil, Ahmad is my front name and my family name as well.
(Greetings, Danil).

Where do you come from? Is there any special place to write a story from your place?

➡️ Currently I'm living in Indonesia, at Situbondo, East Java. For me, East Java is rich in history and culture, especially in mystical stories every one of those is very interesting to write.
(That's so interesting, perhaps one day I should visit there)

When did you start writing? Is there any story that makes you begin to write?

➡️ I started writing when I was in senior high, and since 2015 I've decided to seriously take this passion. I never joined any kind of writing community that connected to literature.
(It turns out, our first step of writing a story is the exact time and place. I do start my writing in Senior High)

From some of your books that have been published neither in Wattpad nor publisher, which book that you like most and so special? Will you tell us why is that?

➡️ To be honest, there's no one of my stories that I consider special, no matter how much I try to make it special there must be something that I feel lacks and not in the right place, so I want to revise it soon in the next project.

In 2016-2018 your novel titled "Midnight Restaurant" rose to the main wall of Wattpad and became one of the most famous novels of that time from Indonesia. What background story that makes you write this story? Is this story based on your experience or just imagination?

➡️ Midnight Restaurant is inspired by a restaurant that got burned in my neighborhood. Many years after closed, many traveling buses came to eat dinner there, according to their words, the restaurant was still open and the light still on. But, when all the passengers come down from the bus, they only find an empty building with black spots all over the building.
(This looks the same as you write and experience by one of the character inside the story, which is Sandi, right?)

Your novel "Midnight Restaurant" uses many PoV (Points of View) and also a different plot. How do you manage this plot until it's become a good story that's perfectly connected? Are there any tips that you can share with us?

➡️ There are no tips or anything, to be honest, that concept came out of nowhere because it's accidental. At first, I wanted to write only using one PoV, but as time went by and many facts that I got from research it was not enough only came from one character. So, I decided to add some more characters. The rest is just improvising.

When writing your story which falls under the genre of Mystery and Thriller and also mixes with horror and humor, is there any problem that you have? Also, why did you choose mystery and thriller to be the main genres of your story?

➡️ I love history dearly. I'm in love with reading a history book. I want to write a story about history, but I realize that our readers have not reached that phase yet so I decided to move into urban legend in East Java and pack it with horror and mystery. For the problem, perhaps it's about time that I need to adjust with children's sleep time.

As a writer, you have goals or purposes to achieve and get. May I know what goals you want to achieve through writing a story?

➡️ I want my novels read by three people and I will write until those three people read it. Those three people are my children that still young children. There's no purpose, I want to communicate with many people through writing because here, not everyone wants to hear my story.
(It's truly a noble and heartwarming goal, Danil. I hope and pray for you so when the time comes, may your children enjoy reading your stories the way your readers enjoy it very much)

Is there any message or experience that you want to share with us, as far as you joining the writing of a story?

➡️ Write something good, so those who'll read it also a good people.

Is there any one or more quotes neither from books, songs wise words, or anything else that describe you, from your PoV?

➡️ "A Strong Man Doesn't Need To Read The Future. He Makes His Own" - Solid Snake "Metal Gear Solid"

Do you have any message for many writers out there that trying to write their majestic stories?

➡️ If your main purpose to write is for money, then your write your writing will feel poor.
(This is such a deep message and has its meaning neither for you nor everyone out there)

Do you have the best motivation that you hold when you're writing a story?

➡️ There are so many, and there are hundreds of thousands of motivations for writing, all of those come from the comments section in Wattpad, Cabaca, and Kaskus. All of that came from readers.

In your story Midnight Restaurant there's a scene where Nova and Sabrina are sitting together after Nova got possessed. There, Sabrina told Nova to never let go of her cross necklace and Sabrina also said "But I believe that our God will always protect us that have faith in Him, even though our way of praying is different God must be here it" is there any special message you try to deliver through this scene?

➡️ Yes, no matter what religion you have, demons will always be afraid and can't ever touch what God already protects.

Midnight Restaurant taught me many things as a reader that fall deeply into the story in every word. But, from your PoV as a writer, what is the main point that you try to tell through Midnight Restaurant?

➡️ You may keep all your revenge but not all of that can be poured out.

Is there any chance in the future, that will you write a horror story from someone's experience?

➡️ Absolutely, but be prepared to get dizzy because I'll ask for the very small details.
