Chapter 7 - Yoongi (early winter, 2023)
Cara and I pulled up in front of a really cute little place that looked like a slightly larger cottage. It looked picturesque with the dusting of snow that laid delicately over the roof and plants. Nice wide windows decorated the front, which I hoped had decent windowsills. I could see myself napping in the sun in both my hybrid and animal forms.
Oh, it would be perfect if there's a reading nook at one of those windows with a nice, padded bench seat.
The front garden made the house feel homely, like someone loved to live here. I couldn't wait to see what it looked like in spring when everything was green and new. As we walked up the paved path, I stopped in my tracks, hissing at a man who was exiting the front door.
"Don't mind him, Yoongi," Cara said calmly, reaching out to grab my hand. As soon as her fingers wound through mine, I felt at ease again. "This is my cousin, Felix Lee. Felix, this is my mate, Yoongi Min," she introduced me to the man, who sent me a beaming smile.
He had full lips like his cousin, pale skin and the same soft sparkle in his eyes, but that was where the similarities laid with the two. Where Cara was on the chubbier and soft side, Felix was thin and all toned muscle; even their heritages were different but with inter-racial marriages, that wasn't unusual to see.
"Hey, nice to meet you, Yoongi. I'm so sorry I can't stay; I have my weekly phone call with my mother and I'm running late." Felix had a welcoming voice, and I could tell by his sweet mandarin scent that like his cousin, he had a good heart. "Bang Chan asked me to bring over some papers for you, so I left them on the kitchen counter. He said they're for you to look at before your meeting tomorrow."
"Okay, thanks. Oh, tell your mum I'll call her soon," Cara called out to the man who was already running across the grass, a wave the only signal that he heard her. "He lives next door and is one of my nurses at Sanctuary," my mate explained as she unlocked the front door. "He'll be around here a lot, but he's incredibly sweet and so is his mate, Bang Chan, who you've already met since he is my assistant."
I nodded at all the information I was receiving as we entered the home, the warmth and my mate's scent hitting me like a wave – one that I allowed to wash over me completely. I smiled and assured Cara that I was happy to meet any of her family and friends. While I didn't really like meeting new people, I would happily do so for my mate. I stopped mid-sentence as I looked around the room in awe.
The lounge looked so inviting and cosy. Comfortable looking plush lounges, big enough to seat 10 people, sat in the middle of the room; some faced the large wall-mounted television, while the rest were closer to the fireplace. I loved the white-washed brickwork of the fireplace, and between that and the exposed wooden beams, the room felt peaceful, warm and really inviting. I couldn't wait to nap on the couches; though one addition I would like to make would be to bring in some fluffy blankets – I loved cuddling into one whenever I napped.
I noticed Cara watching my reactions intently, hoping that I liked her house. I knew she saw my slight disappointment and drooping ears as I looked at the windows. There were only average sized windowsills and no reading nook.
"I have a nook in my bedroom window that is perfect for reading or napping," she said sweetly as if she could read my mind, adding that I was free to use it whenever I wanted.
"I might just take you up on that," I returned, tail swishing happily behind me. "Though you might get sick of me always being in your bedroom."
"It might not be just mine for long." The blush that painted her cheeks was adorable, making her skin look like an amalgamation of our scents – strawberries and cream. "I mean, you can use the spare room if you want to. O-or you can sleep in my room." I smirked, liking the way she was getting flustered.
"Cute," I whispered as I wandered into the kitchen that was open-planned and just to the side of the lounge. Like the other room I'd seen, it was white with wooden accents. But unlike the lounge, the exposed beams were highlighting the large bay window looking out onto the landscaped backyard.
"Feel free to help yourself to food, drinks or anything else whenever you want," she offered, following me in and leaning against the island bench. "It's your house now too. Also, if you want something specific, we can make sure to get it from the supermarket."
I ran my fingers over the cool white marble benchtops, thinking about the delicious things I could make for my mate. "Do you do much cooking in here?" I asked, turning and coming to stop beside her. I felt so at ease here, with my beautiful mate beside me and her scent permeating throughout each of the rooms.
"You don't get to be my size without loving to eat or cook," she sardonically huffed a laugh.
I moved to stand in front of her, blocking her in with my hands on the benchtop. "No one gets to say mean things about my mate," I warned gently, ears flattening slightly as a growl quietly rumbled in my chest. "Not even my mate."
She closed her eyes and lowered her head. Using two fingers, I lifted her chin and asked her to look at me. "Cara, you are beautiful the way you are. Fuck anyone who says differently."
I really wanted to kiss her, but I didn't want to overstep the boundary. Instead, I kissed the tip of her nose, smiling my gummy grin at the way her cheeks blushed several shades of bright pink.
My mate likes nose kisses, it seems.
"Now, shall we continue the tour of the house?" I murmured, silently chuckling how she simply nodded and walked towards the staircase. As she climbed the stairs, I got the perfect view of her ass, which I was right about – it was soft, squishy and jiggled lusciously with each step she took.
I can't wait to see how it would look as she bounced on my dick. Ah fuck, I need to stop thinking about her that way otherwise she'll think I'm a pervert.
I mentally slapped myself for my deviant thoughts as we wandered into a bedroom. By the smell of the room, I could tell it wasn't hers. Cara's scent was very faint here, like she only came in occasionally to clean.
"This is the spare room where you can stay if you want to," she said, fiddling with the blankets placed upon the comfortable looking bed.
"Can I see your room first before I choose?" I asked, happy to hear her tell me that I could.
Walking into her room, I instantly knew this was where I wanted to fall asleep every night for the rest of my life. Her scent was strong and so comforting here, like another one of the fluffy blankets she had on the bed.
I could envision myself napping in the sun on the long, padded nook, then rolling around on the soft-looking bed while I basked in Cara's scent. I loved how the wooden accents continued in here; whomever had designed this place had excellent tastes.
She showed me the large walk-in robe just to the back of the bedroom, which had enough spare space for my clothes...when I got some more. She then opened the double wooden doors and led me into a very modern-looking bathroom. The white, black and wooden features tied it into the design of the rest of the house, but still allowed the room to feel bright, modern and sexy.
While I might be a cat hybrid, I was still part human, and I did love nice hot showers and bathing. I pictured the two of us soaking in the large rectangular bath, that upon further inspection I noticed had spa jets. I could also see us showering together and getting dirty as we cleaned ourselves.
"Your house is beautiful," I breathed out, coming to stand before her. As much as I would have loved to place my hands on her wide hips, I withheld. I didn't want to move too fast. Even though I was experiencing intense feelings towards my mate, I knew humans didn't feel the same pull as hybrids did. I would take my time and move at whatever pace she was comfortable with.
"You're welcome. And... it's our house now," she clarified, giggling at my happy face.
I did smell her scent change a little, taking on a slight sour note. When I asked what was wrong, a nervous look flashed across her features and from the way her scent fluctuated, I knew she was a little scared. "I dare say we'll be having my friends and family coming over soon. Are you alright if they stay for dinner? Or I can kick them out and say you need time to settle in."
"Shh, it's okay," I reassured her, planting another small kiss on her nose. "I want to know everything about my pretty little mate, so I'd love to meet the people closest to you."
