Sanbai-Gaeshiin
"My sweet rose, I wish to meet you at the river bridge this evening. Love has called upon me to bestow upon you a gift of the most extravagant value. Of course, my being there should satisfy your romantic wants anyway. Heh. I will be waiting, my tender blossom."
The words replay in your head and you involuntarily wince.
God, that's painful, you think to yourself, but you still blush. Whether out of embarrassment or flattery, you couldn't tell the difference. Luckily, no one was around to see your red face when you received the call in the afternoon.
It was an unusually cold March evening. A sudden breeze blew past and you tighten your grip on your jacket. Thankfully, you chose the one of your larger coats for this today.
As you walk past rows of shops, several males rush in and rush out, grasping chocolates and flowers, all hastily wrapped or tied in string. Perhaps they were late in giving gifts for White Day. It was a funny sight, seeing anxious men buying last-minute gifts.
Knowing Karamatsu, though, he probably had his White Day gift planned when you gave him your present a month ago. Dialogue and all.
Upon reaching the edge of the bridge, you spot a figure leaning over the edge. If the leather jacket didn't give it away, the boquet of roses in his hand did.
Karamatsu looked uneasy, even from afar. His sunglasses were placed on top of his head and in place of his dazzling smile was a frown. His eyebrows were scrunched together as he looked down upon the river, slightly swinging the bouquet back and forth. He was mumbling to himself, probably either his practiced dialogue or words of motivation.
It made you feel sad, but intrigued. You never wanted to make Karamatsu uneasy, yet this was a side of him you've been trying to find. Beneath that show-worthy mask was a vulnerable and honest man that the world never sees. Bits and pieces of this mask started to fell away while you two were dating and it made you glad he was comfortable with showing this side to you.
After taking a few steps forward, Karamatsu noticed you from the corner of his eye. As if on cue, he straightened up, placed his sunglasses on, replaced his frown with a bedazzling smile and pointed a finger-gun at you. All in an instant.
"My loving daisy! So you have come to be enchanted by the one and only Karamatsu!"
You giggled. It wasn't as if you weren't coming.
"What is with these flower names today, Kara?"
Karamatsu's cheeks flushed when you called him by his nickname.
"Ah, my dearest primrose, that is because-"
He twirled and pointed his finger-gun to the sky.
"-You bring color to my life, as flowers bring color to this world! Now I must bestow upon you such a flower, meant to parallel your beauty. I have tried my best, for nothing in this world can match the rose in my life that is you."
The bouquet of red roses popped between the two of you and my goodness, they were covered in excess with red glitter.
"It is a thank you for those wonderful chocolates you gave me. At that moment in time, I could feel your love for me coursing through my veins, like and injected drug. You are my drug, (____)! And I need to have more of you."
You couldn't help but let out a laugh. Perhaps it was out of embarrassment at your boyfriend's cheesy lines, or the stares of couples walking by. Karamatsu wasn't expecting this to be your reaction, and colour rapidly filled his cheeks. His cool-guy character was cracking.
"I love this, Kara." You finally said, giving the roses a sniff. Bad idea. It smelled strongly of glitter glue and his cheap cologne.
"R-really?" His voice cracked and he quickly turned around and cleared his throat.
"AHEM. Heh..." Karamatsu turned back around, his fingers on his forehead, striking a pose. He was sweating profusely.
"But of course you would love it, my sweet lily. After all, it came from me! The one and only Matsuno Karamatsu; the second son! We Japanese, so reserved in our manner, must somehow show our love in one way or another. So it is today, White Day, that I have decided to repay your love for me threefold, as a guilty man as I-"
A breeze blew by again and Karamatsu shivered. His leather jacket wasn't much of a defense against the cold.
"Kara, do you want to borrow my coat?" You asked, "I don't want you to catch a cold."
"Heh. Love comes with a price and I am willing to take it." He posed again, with less enthusiasm.
Before you could protest, he loudly sneezed.
"Kara, we can't let you stay out like this," you pulled out a handkerchief and wiped his nose for him.
"Ah, thank you, my Karamatsu angel. I knew that when your arrow pierced my heart that it was meant to be." He took your hand in both of his, tissue and all.
You swear, not even the river's soft waves reflecting the setting sun could match the glow in his eyes, even behind sunglasses.
"Guess you finally ran out of flower names, huh?"
"Ah..." He looked down, defeated. This wasn't what he rehearsed.
"Hey," you looped your arm in his, "You said you had something else planned?"
"I...yes! I did!" He placed his hand onto yours and flashed you a smile, looking at you from under his sunglasses, "I shall take you to a magical place where lovers like us wine and dine in solitude, with nothing but a full moon and the stars to keep us company! Heh...aren't I the best boyfriend?"
"Yes you are, Karamatsu." The two of you walked across the bridge, arm in arm. You could feel Karamatsu swelling with pride.

Turns out that romantic place to wine and dine was a simple cafe down the street. It seemed to be a popular spot for couples. You wanted a seat indoors, mostly because you didn't want Karamatsu to catch a cold, but he insisted that "the moon and stars were calling".
Unfortunately, Karamatsu did not have enough money to treat you "to a feast of the gods, which is only appropriate for a goddess like you." He must have spent most of his money on those roses.
"This is only part two of my three-part repayment to you, my honey," he managed to say the last two words in butchered English. Snot dripped from his nose.
You laughed a bit at his heavy Japanese accent, "Karamatsu, please drink your soup. You don't look so well."
"Heh...I always look well." He smirked, shovering slightly from the cold.
With the moonlight upon him and the city night lights around him, you had to admit he looked very handsome. Karamatsu knew you were subtly admiring him and his smirk only grew.
"So what is part three of this Sanbai-Gaeshiin?" You suddenly ask.
"Ah, do not be so impatient, my Karamatsu girl. Good things come to those who wait. Unless-"
He suddenly stands from his chair and points a finger at you.
"You just could not wait for the crowd-pleaser that is me!"
Karamatsu attempted to place his foot in the table to show off his leg, which he did, but his weight toppled the table and the soup bowls onto the ground and a horrendous crash.
Along with himself.
"Oh my god!" Kara had landed headfirst on top of the shattered bowl pieces and there was a good amount of blood on him. You grabbed a stray napkin and attempted to staunch the flow of blood from his head.
"Ah, thank you my-"
"Hey you!" The restaurant owner ran out of the establishment, "You have to pay for that!"
"My precious jewel it seems," Karamatsu grabbed your hand, "We must flee."
Karamatsu threw whatever money he had behind him as the two of you ran, hand-in-hand, away from the screaming owner.

The two of you finally stopped running at a park. You leaned against a nearby streetlamp, already alight due to the darkening sky, to catch your breath as Karamatsu collapsed onto his knees and pathetically wheezed.
"Hey...," you started to talk after catching some of your breath, "That...didn't really go...as planned?"
"Heh..." Karamatsu pushed up his sunglasses (why he was still wearing them at this time of day you will never know) and stood up, "You underestimate me, my Karamatsu lover, for I..."
He looked around.
"Uh...let us walk ahead some more..."
He took your hand in his once more and guided you up a grassy hill.
"Wait here." He placed his hand on your shoulders and you settled down onto the ground. Then, Karamatsu went off into the foliage of trees behind you.
He then came out, to your surprise, with his guitar. But what suprised you more was his clothes. He had changed in the shadow of the trees into a glittering white blazer, with his chest fully exposed, and an equally glittering white pants. Karamatsu walked toward you with a confident smirk across his face, but his shivering made it falter.
You were taken aback by how much he had planned for today. You started to think if that scene at the restaraunt was also part of his elaborate scheme to get you to the park.
"You're usually a man with no plan, Karamatsu," you started to ask, "so why did you plan out every detail of this?"
You could tell that even in the dim light, Karamatsu's face was flushed.
"W-well..." He stammered out, "I certainly didn't plan for someone like you to come into in my life...so I thought...you deserve something like this... "
Karamatsu strumed a few notes on his guitar. He hawed and hemmed a bit, but you just sat there, looking up and eagerly waiting for him to play.
"I...uh," Karamatsu started to say, "started writing this song after a few months of meeting you and, uh..., I polished it after Valentine's Day so...tell me how it is."

It was a simple melody, but it was a beautiful one. Karamatsu's songs were usually so clichéd and so painful that even you would find yourself trying to bite back laughter with difficulty. But you could tell with this song, he put much more effort into. It showed his true feelings; it showed the softer side of him, the side his brothers and the world can't see under his mask. He only showed this side of him to you and slowly, he was becoming comfortable with it. With you.
And what better way to show it than with this song he wrote just for you?
It absolutely took your breath away.
With the final strum of his guitar and with the final note sung, Karamatsu sighed and forcibly closed his eyes, ready for any criticism.
He heard nothing at first, then a "that was so beautiful" from you.
Karamatsu suddenly sucked in his breath in shock. He could feel tears welling up in his eyes.
"R-really...?"
Ah, she loved it. I'm so glad...
"Heh." Before you could respond, Karamatsu regained his composure and smirked. He stretched his arms out and looked up towards the sky, probably to hide his bleary tears of gratitude.
"Of course you love my words, my darling. Words that expertly crafted for an angelic being like you, if words can ever suffi-ACHOO!"
Karamatsu sneezed and shivered again. This time more so, since his bare chest was exposed to the cold night air and his sequined blazer wasn't doing much.
"Alright, that is the last straw." You said. You stood up, unzipped your jacket, and attempted to envelope Karamatsu and his guitar in your arms.
"Ah, my honey, there is no need," Karamatsu struck a pose again (how he did so in that confined space you did not know) but his guitar handle smacked him in the face, making him bump heads with yours, knocking both of you to the ground.
"Karamatsu, there is absolute need!" You tried to say in your strictest voice, "I don't want you to catch a cold...not after what you've done for me today."
The softening of your voice at the end made Karamatsu's face flush again and the temperature in the coat rose.
"Thank you for today, Karamatsu," you continued, "Thank you for the roses, the dinner, the song, everything. Thank you for yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Karamatsu. You don't know how happy I am with you."
"That's my line," Karamatsu said, "I should be the one thanking you for coming into my life. That's what today is for, isn't it?"
You gave him a meaningful kiss on the lips and he reciprocated, but before he could ask for more, you pulled back.
"Do you mind taking off your guitar?" You asked, "It's a little uncomfortable in here."
"Oh, uh, I'm sorry..." He muttered as the both of you tried, with great difficulty, to bring the guitar out of the warm envelopment you created for the two of you.
With that out of the way, the two of you were now very close to one another. The temperature in the coat was rising but the both of you honestly didn't mind. It was just the two of you, alone on a grassy hill, with nothing but the moon and stars to keep you company.
"Is that better now?" You asked and placed a kiss on his cheek.
"Yeah..." You wonder if Karamatsu's face can get any redder, "It's always better with you."
Author's Note
HOO BOY
Let me just say that I rushed this and I really hope this was good. It's my first Osomatsu-san fanfic and you can clearly see that I am a Karamatsu girl. I hope I expressed enough of my love for him in this really rushed fanfic. I hope you enjoyed the song (I love Yuichi Nakamura so much) and the story!
