7| What's Love Got To Do With It?

So sorry for slow update, I went on hiatus.

DESTINY

Kiandre was beyond suspicious now.

What did Destiny need to tell him?

Did I do something wrong? Kiandre thought to himself for a long time. Have I upset one of Destiny's friends?

Then...

Does my breath smell bad? Kiandre then smelt his breath by breathing on his hand and smelling it, but it smelt fine.

Then what was the problem?

"Uhm... yeah sure, what's up?" Kiandre told her after a while, but Destiny didn't know what on Earth to say to him.

You've got this girl, she sighed. You've got this.

I mean, how hard can it be?

Just tell him you like him and then get the hell out of here?

It couldn't have been that hard, right?

Wrong.

But this was unbeknownst to Destiny, so she was going to find this out soon.

Destiny must have been staring at Kiandre like crazy or something because she wouldn't stop making intense eye contact with him.

It was like she was staring hard into his soul, or she was trying to completely hypnotise him.

"Destiny," Kiandre elongated, waving his hand in front of her face to get her attention. "You OK?"

"Yeah I'm fine," she said that but her facial expression said otherwise.

"What did you need to tell me?"

Destiny sighed.

But then she remembered what her friend- Valentina specifically- had told her.

The future ain't guaranteed, sis! You only have today.

Then Esmeralda.

Seriously, girl? All that talk with Kiandre and the words I like you didn't come out once? What's going girl? You're better than this, no offence.

Then the words just kind of came out of nowhere.

Quicker than Destiny wanted it to, anyway.

"I really like you, Kiandre."

This was unexpected.

But despite this though, Kiandre seemed to be happy about it.

He's happy about it? Destiny smiled. Does that mean he likes me back?

No.

Fricking.

Way.

She was right though, no fricking way.

Kiandre wasn't happy about that, he was happy about something else.

"I mean, I don't blame you," he boasted pretty playfully, making Destiny laugh. "And I like you too."

Destiny was over the moon as she kept saying how much Kiandre had liked her in her head.

Kiandre admitted he liked me!

No he didn't, sis.

He didn't really anyway. Destiny had unfortunately kind of misinterpreted him.

What Kiandre had said next ruined Destiny's mood entirely though, but at the same time, she wasn't very clear about this.

"As a friend, right?"

Destiny's eyes had widened hard when she had heard this.

Oh, he thought I meant I like him as a friend.

I mean I do but...

That wasn't what I meant.

I knew it was too good to be true.

Destiny muttered that yes, she did like him as a friend, but that wasn't exactly what she wanted to tell him.

Luckily, Kiandre figured this out, especially so when Destiny's smile had dropped a lot.

By far.

"I feel like there's something else you want to tell me."

"Nope, nothing!"

She had hurried quickly to escape the shop with her friends, but Kiandre had grabbed her hand tightly, holding Destiny back.

Destiny's eyes widened intensely because Kiandre's eyes were so beautiful... but then she had stopped doing this after making eye contact with him had start to make her feel uncomfortable.

"Look, I don't know what's going on here but we ain't leavin' here until you tell me what you need to tell me."

"There's nothing I need to tell you."

"I'm not stupid, Destiny," he snapped. "What's going on?"

Ooh, Kiandre was a bit sassy, wasn't he?

He had probably gotten it from Sekani though.

Sekani was the king of sassiness.

Destiny sighed heavily.

Why are you stallin' so much, girl?

Just tell him you like him and then get the hell outta here.

It was probably because she had feared rejection.

Destiny had never admitted to anyone before that she had liked them, and Kiandre was going to be the first person.

But then again... who didn't fear rejection? Heck, even Kiandre probably feared rejection.

Though what were the odds of him actually liking her back?

Highly unlikely, that was for sure.

"OK, fine," she heaved. "I've been stalling this whole time. When I said I like you, I meant I like you romantically."

Kiandre just stared at her.

Oh crud, Destiny thought to herself. I knew he wasn't going to take it well....

What's he going to say?

"What do you mean?"

Truth be told, Kiandre knew what she meant- she had a crush on him-- but he needed to double check this to see if she was actually correct.

Not that this had mattered to him much, but he didn't want to jump to conclusions and make fake assumptions about something that wasn't necessarily that true.

Destiny admitted what she had meant, but Kiandre still didn't understand.

I fancy you?

Kiandre still stared.

I have a crush on you... I'm kinda head over heels for you?

He wouldn't stop glancing at her.

"Look, I'm running out of synonyms for the word fancy here. But either way, I like you romantically, I think you're cute... same difference."

Kiandre still stared for a bit, but then he smiled a lot.

Before laughing his head off.

"Nah, I was kidding. I knew what you meant from the start, I was just messin' with you," he teased. "And whoa, since when did you start liking me?"

Destiny was going to tell him since she first laid eyes on him, but she didn't believe in love at first sight so she had just said her first conversation with him.

The conversation that both of them had had today was their first proper conversation, the other ones they had had before were meaningless conversations about things such as bus times or homework & that.

Nothing that was important to either Kiandre or Destiny whatsoever.

Until today.

Kiandre recalled what their first conversation was about, and when he had finally remembered what it actually was, he kind of laughed his head off.

Gosh, his smile is so cute, Destiny thought to herself. Destiny, stop obsessing. He ain't perfect. He's got his own flaws too.

Which were pretty easy to overlook.

"Oh you mean that conversation about the bus stop? No wonder you kept staring. Everything makes so much sense now."

Destiny smiled, things were going smoothly.

For now.

"Yeah," she agreed. "I'm not allowed to be in a relationship right now because it'll only distract me from my school work but when I am allowed to date, I was wondering if you'd like to go on one with me, maybe?"

Kiandre didn't say anything because he was thinking something instead.

How was he going to break this to Destiny without hurting her feelings?

He didn't like her back.

He liked her as a friend, but not romantically.

"Look, Destiny," he told her, standing up and putting on his light brown coat again.

Jesus Christ, it was July.

Why was he wearing a coat?

OK, so maybe his flaws weren't that easily to overlook, but dang.

It wasn't even a leather jacket.

It was a winter coat.

An entire winter coat.

What world was Kiandre living in? Jesus.

"You're an amazing and sweet girl and all, but I only like you as a friend," Kiandre told her. "Also, you're kind of out of my league... but that's a good thing. You're too good for me."

F. R. I. E. N. D. Z. O. N. E. D.

That was nice.

Then again Destiny wasn't really expecting any better to be honest.

The bit about Destiny being out of Kiandre's league-- not the bit about him friendzoning her.

Jeez, that sucked.

But being out of Kiandre's league was a compliment though.

Kind of?

Destiny didn't know.

"Is it because we've only had one proper meaningful conversation?" She lamented. "As in if maybe we had more meaningful conversations, you would have liked me back?"

"Not necessarily," Kiandre shook his head, heading for the door- the one that took him upstairs as that was where Kassandra & Sekani were right now.

They were protesting to not leave the shop but it wasn't getting them anywhere.

CCTV cameras were pretty much placed everywhere, and they had all told the security guards that Kassandra had started the argument between them, so all evidence was against them, give or take.

"Regardless of the amount of quote unquote 'meaningful' conversations we have, I would probably still like you as a friend. No offence though, there's just no spark between us."

Destiny wanted to cry but she didn't, and Kiandre had realised this.

He blushed a bit before sighing-- this was what he didn't want at all.

"I can sense you're getting really upset now, and I don't want to feel more guilty than I already do for rejecting you, so... erm.. I guess I'll see you at Same Difference tonight?"

Destiny nodded solemnly, before they were about to hug... then realising that Kiandre had just rejected her, he had ended up high fiving her instead.

You can't be mad at Kiandre, sis. He ain't done nothing.

You can only be mad at yourself for depending on him for happiness and self esteem.

Destiny was about to go and meet her friends, not that she needed to anyway because Valentina had just come to collect her.

She had asked Sekani his opinion on a dress, and had made a compromise to him that she wouldn't have told anyone that he was too underage to go to Same Difference tonight if he had agreed to be nicer to Destiny.

At first, Sekani was hesitant, he hated Destiny, but then he had changed his mind about it after remembering that unforgiveness was kind of a sin, plus it was an accident after all.

He was yet to apologise to Destiny for being rude to her all this time and vice versa, but he had told Valentina that if Destiny had upset him or anyone he knew one more time, then he would have hated her for life and he meant it.

"Hey chica, what's up?" Valentina asked. "How'd things go with Kiandre?"

Then without even realising it, Destiny went to Valentina to hug her, crying heavily on her shoulder about how Kiandre had rejected her, even though she had kind of seen this coming.

Everything was practically her fault now, and she completely hated herself for it.

Yes guys, I don't like you back exists XD I've seen so many stories on here where the guy and girl like each other back, but hardly any where one rejects the other.

Not that there's anything wrong with this but we need some diversity :) no offence to anyone though, just stating from my own personal experience on this app.
