13| No Family Is Perfect
☆ DESTINY ☆
"You OK, mum?" Kassandra had asked her nicely, as soon as Sierra had disciplined both Sekani and Kiandre for that matter, sending both of them upstairs.
Except from the fact that she didn't actually send them upstairs, they had chosen to go upstairs themselves, because they were annoyed.
Especially Kiandre.
Right now, Sierra was located right in front of the dinner table, standing up right next to Damien & Kassandra, annoyingly jamming a fork in the strawberry jelly she had gotten from the fridge.
Yeah, she had used a fork to eat jelly.
No crime in doing that, although it wasn't exactly the most normal thing to do in their entire household.
Or at all.
Sierra had looked kind of annoyed though, but Kassandra and Damien couldn't really blame her. Kiandre & Sekani had gotten on her nerves, which wasn't entirely her fault-- it was theirs for getting on her bad side.
"Just who the heck does he think he is?!" Sierra fumed, indirectly referring to Sekani. "I've told him millions of times that he's not allowed to go to that stupid Same Difference nightclub because he's underage, but he doesn't listen. Bad parenting, if you ask me."
Whilst Sierra was fuming, Kassandra and her father had just glanced at each other for reassurance, because none of them had really known what to say to her.
She had been annoyed before.
But not this annoyed.
Never this annoyed.
"Now, now, Sierra, what did we say about badmouthing Sekani's parents?"
"Yeah, dad's right," Kassandra acknowledged. "You and Sekani's parents are siblings. Whether you like it or not."
Sierra must have absolutely hated the fact that Sekani's parents were her siblings or something because when she had heard her daughter say that, she had jammed the plastic fork through her jelly so hard that the fork itself had broken.
She had also thrown the fork away, along with the plastic plate she had used to eat the strawberry jelly with, before yelling that she was done with Sekani a million times.
Wish we could kick him out the house but we can't! Kassandra and Damien heard Sierra say as she continued the romcom her and Damien were watching earlier, without his consent at all.
No wonder his parents didn't want to take him to Mexico with them-- I don't blame them!
Because they really didn't want to make things worse than they already were, Damien and Kassandra had just glanced at each other again, not really saying anything.
Sierra was still pretty much ranting about Sekani, even as she had gone up the stairs (which was where everyone that was annoyed seemed to have been going nowadays), with Damien whispering something to Kassandra when his wife had left the scene.
"I least I know I can count on you, Kassandra," Damien smiled, patting her back twice in happiness.
Or so he thought.
What he didn't know was that Kassandra had gotten kicked out of Richard Gold for threatening Destiny and her friends.
Parents were so oblivious sometimes.
But then again, neither Sierra or Damien were there when Kassandra had done this, and she had inevitably not told them about this at all.
That wasn't the only bad thing that Kassandra had done though.
The other bad thing she had done?
It was this.
"Naturally." Kassandra said, flipping her hair, before telling her father that she was going to get ready for Same Difference which had started in a couple of hours time.
Kassandra was about to leave the kitchen...
....until Damien realised that she had completely dropped her receipt on the floor, and when he had found this out, let's just say that he wasn't very happy about it... at all.
"Kassandra!"
When Kassandra had heard her name, she had smiled, but unbeknownst to her, she was in deep trouble right now.
"Yes, sweet father."
"How much was the football jersey you bought for your boyfriend's birthday?"
More money than he needed to know of, that was what.
But of course, Kassandra wasn't going to tell him that.
She had completely forgotten that her parents (her father specifically though) had said that she should have spent no more than £150 at Richard Gold.
The girl had accidentally spent £200 by mistake.
"Two hundred pounds?" Damien shouted at her, when Kassandra had shamefully told him how much she had spent. "Do you know how hard it was for me to earn that much money?"
"It was an honest mistake, dad. I won't do it again, I'm sorry."
Sorry wasn't good enough though.
Kassandra had also pointed out that she didn't exactly remember her parents saying that she had a limit to spend, which Damien had come prepared for.
The guy had very smartly recorded his conversation earlier with Kassandra on a voice recording before she had gone to Richard Gold with both her brother and Sekani as well.
Oh yeah, and don't spend more than £150 at the shop otherwise you'll get in trouble. I want all change back as well. Understand?
Understand.
Off you go.
Thanks.
End of conversation.
"And on top of you spending more than your limit, I don't have any change back." Damien realised, in downright annoyance & frustration, over the thought of not having any money. "You're going to go back to Richard Gold today and you're going to return that football jersey and get my money back."
In case one was wondering how Kassandra had spent £200 when her limit was £150, her parents had generously given her £300 to spend at Richard Gold today.
But it was pretty hard for them to earn it.
Kiandre didn't really tell people this but he was kind of in poverty right now. His parents were in serious debt and they were having financial difficulties.
The £300 Sierra and Damien had was earned way before they were in debt, which they had kindly given to Kassandra, but now they only had £100 left.
Not good enough.
"But dad, if I return the football jersey then Sanchez- my boyfriend- won't have a birthday present."
"You should have thought of that before you did what you did. Also, you're not going Same Difference tonight, I believe you have some coursework to do, which you're behind on. You're grounded for a week."
"But.."
"End of discussion, Kassandra. Go upstairs and start your coursework."
When Kassandra had heard this, she whined a bit, before stomping upstairs, cursing to herself.
Pretty princess ain't so perfect now, Damien thought to himself, smiling a bit because usually Kassandra hadn't never gotten in trouble.
So telling her off was kind of... exhilarating.
In a strange way.
Karma was real, Kassandra, and it had just bit and slapped you three times in the face.
Being a parent rocks sometimes, if I do say so myself, Damien thought, sitting on the sofa. Finally, I've got the TV to myself. Time to catch up on that documentary I was watching.
In the meantime upstairs, Kiandre was pretty annoyed.
He almost always was but he was very angry this time around.
He groaned to himself loudly, walking around in circles in his room countless times before sitting down on his bed, burying his face in his hands and yelling the five words pretty much everyone in the house except Damien was feeling right now.
"I hate my life!"
Kiandre didn't realise that Sekani was chilling near his door because he was complaining too much to do so, saying 'ditto' after Kiandre had said that he didn't like his life (anymore).
When Kiandre had eventually noticed that Sekani was standing there, he was even more ticked off than before because Sekani was basically the reason he was so worked up in the first place.
"What are you doing here, Sekani? You're literally the last person I want to talk to right now!"
"I've kinda realised that," Sekani told him, annoying Kiandre even more than he already was when he had sat down uninvited on his bed.
His bed was only really meant for one person... it was that small.
Sekani broke this rule by far, and Kiandre wasn't OK with it.
"And I'm here because for some reason, Kassandra seems way more annoyed than you do right now, so I obviously don't want to talk to her in case she lashes out at me," he explained. "And I was starting to think that maybe I had taken everything a bit too far."
"Of course you took everything too far, you idiot, why did you have to tell everyone that I rejected Destiny, especially my mum?"
That shut Sekani right up because he didn't even know what the heck to say to that.
To be honest, Sekani had felt kind of guilty.
Yes, Sekani felt guilt.
It just didn't happen very often because he was kinda a very inconsiderate person.
Sekani was that kind of person that had found it extremely difficult to put himself in other people's shoes.
He was also the kind of person that found it hard to apologise- as in if someone had gotten in an argument with him & he did something wrong, the other person, who had done absolutely nothing wrong, had more often than not ended up apologising instead of Sekani himself.
"You did really mess up though," he pointed out. "But I guess I didn't have to repeat it so many times."
"Ya think?"
Sekani had just stared really hard at him, frowning as much as humanly possible.
"Enough about Destiny though," Sekani continued. "Your mum and dad are out of control, no disrespect to you and Kassandra. They're driving me round the edge."
"The heck do you mean?"
So Sekani had told Kiandre that he had gotten in trouble, and that his mother had told him that he wasn't allowed to go to Same Difference tonight.
"Dude, you couldn't even go to Same Difference tonight even if you wanted to. My mum had a reason to yell at you, you're underage!"
"Why are age restrictions even necessary though?" Sekani ranted. "'Don't do this till you're 18'. 'Don't do that till you're 18.' Why 18 though? Why not 16? Maybe even 17, but mainly 16 as that's how old I am right now!"
He did kind of have a point though, Kiandre was kind of tired of age restrictions too.
But hey, he wasn't complaining.
He could do many things Sekani couldn't.
Like... go to Same Difference tonight.
And drink.
And drive.
The possibilities were practically endless.
"Like, God forbid but what if I don't even live to be 18?"
"Don't say that, Sekani," Kiandre warned. "If I've lived to be eighteen with hardly any problems, then you can too.. assuming something bad doesn't happen to you."
Kiandre then wanted to cut the conversation short a bit, because he was getting more annoyed than before, just thinking about Destiny.
When he was (really) annoyed, usually the guy would have gone on Instagram to try and at least calm himself down.
But even Instagram didn't work.
Why?
Because Kiandre's follower count had dropped by 200.
Exactly.
No joke about that.
"No," Kiandre shouted when he had realised this. "No no no no no."
"What's up, bro, you OK?" Sekani wanted to know, being confused right now but even more confused when Kiandre had told him to come over.
Kiandre had 2K followers on Instagram, but now it was 1.8K.
1.79K, to be more generous.
He had lost followers before, but not this many.
And never this many in one day as well.
This must have been a new world record or something, especially for Kiandre.
It was probably because he had rejected Destiny, which Sekani had pointed out... only for Kiandre to shoot him a dirty look to.
"But no one knows about the rejection except her friends and this family."
"Yeah but do you really think Destiny's friends would keep this a secret?"
When Kiandre had asked Sekani what this had meant, Sekani had just showed him Esmeralda's recent post (or video, more specifically) on Instagram.
Hey y'all... Ooh, my make up be poppin' today! Esmeralda said to her followers on Instagram, checking herself out, causing Kiandre to roll his eyes.
She was in her Cadillac in front of McDonald's, waiting for Destiny and Valentina to come.
Calista & Janette were with her in the video, telling her to stop it after she had told them earlier behind the scenes that she wanted to diss Kiandre.
Esmeralda didn't listen to them.
She didn't really listen to anyone except herself.
Now, I don't know if anyone's told y'all this but my baby girl Destiny gold rejected by dusty old Kiandre! Yeah, Kiandre, if you're listening to this... screw you!
Nah, I ain't shallow enough to say that y'all should unfollow Kiandre for rejecting such a fine arse girl like Destiny... but I mean, you can if you want.
In fact, I'd highly recommend it.
So you don't really have much of a choice then, once you think about it.
Imma hand it over to Sekani now, who has some nasty things to say to and about his cousin.
Sekani had totally forgotten that he was a part of the video, and when he did, his eyes had widened, trying to stop the video before Kiandre had seen it, but sadly...
He did.
"You were in the video?!"
"To be honest, I didn't think you'd actually see it!"
"Get out of my room!"
"But Kiandre--"
"Get out of my room!!!!"
Then a very annoyed Sekani had walked out.
Esmeralda had managed to get Sekani in the video by doing so before Sekani was going to meet Kiandre in the car.
"I'm really mad at you right now, and nothing's going to change that."
"But not mad enough to not take me Same Difference anymore right?"
Kiandre had given him a dirty look, and seeing that, Sekani then left the room, to go and talk to Kassandra.
In the meantime, because he really didn't want to see the video anymore, Kiandre threw his phone at the wall, before cursing out loud to himself.
He had said he had hated his life again, before lying down on his bed and complaining to God.
Was the dude going to be a downright fool at Same Difference tonight, which he couldn't avoid now as he had already shopped for it.
Plus it wouldn't have been fair on his friends as he had promised them he was going to go there tonight.
All actions have consequences so don't do something you'll regret later 'cause karma's real, y'all!
sereniity- xx
