Disclaimer: I own nothing.

After her date with Sam was cut short before it even started, Rachel sat on her bed looking at the ceiling. Damn Kurt Hummel...Best Friend or not, she prays that Kurt hadn't ruin her shot with Sam.

Sam...sigh...if she only knew in high school how glorious his abs were. Sure, Noah Puckerman was all male. Blaine, Finn, oh and let's not forget Mike's abs were incredible. But Sam....

Rachel couldn't help but think about Sam and wonder what it would be like to be pressed against him. She remembers helping with his modeling portfolio shots. Putting oil on his body. Rachel shivered.

**Knock**

Kurt: Rachel sweetie, are you awake?

Rachel sighed before answering, "Yes Kurt I am."

Kurt slowly opened the door. He smiled as he walked to her bed. "Listen, Diva, I am sorry I ruined your date. I was missing Blaine, and thought if I had to be alone than so would you. Plus, as much as I love you, I am not sure if Sam is the one for you," he said.

Rachel groaned. She was getting a bit tired of being told who she could date and not date. Or who is good enough for her.

Rachel took his hand, "Listen, I appreciate your concern, but this is not Your decision. It is MY life and I'm a grown woman. Sam is a great guy and I haven't felt safe with a man in a long time. I'll always love Finn, but maybe this is my chance to get it right."

Kurt hated to admit it, but perhaps Rachel was right. This is hers and Sam's chance. He nodded, gave Rachel a hug, and left.

Rachel finally fell asleep, and figured she would talk to Sam in the morning. Rachel eventually fell into a deep slumber thinking of her Avatar-lovin crush.

The next morning, Rachel had meant to talk to Sam but real life took over and became so busy that she had to wait a week later to speak to him.

Rachel was relaxing on the couch watching the Flash, when there was a knock on the door. Wow that Barry Allen looks so much like Sebastian Smythe...hot!

Rachel went to the door, and was surprised to find Quinn Fabray on the other side of the door.

"What are you doing here Quinn,"

Rachel asked.

"Let's not beat around the bush, RuPaul. Stay away from Sam Evans!" Quinn snarled.

Rachel stepped aside to let Quinn in. The last thing she needed were the neighbors being called.

"I'm not giving up on Sam, okay? It's over between you two." Rachel Berry said softly but her eyes were fiery and she shook her head back and forth with determination.

Quinn Fabray stood in front of the shorter brunette girl, her eyes angry. Who did this midget think she was? Sam Evans was hers. In High School and even now, although he didn't know that.

Quinn smirked at Rachel and her voice became quiet, sultry, and menacing. "You're way over your head here, Man-hands. Do you honestly think Sam  would go  to you? I'm Quinn HBIC Fabray. I'm blonde, I'm beautiful and you. You're Rachel the Freak Berry," Quinn wrinkled her nose and said Rachel's name with extreme disdain.

"Do you honestly think you have a chance against me? Do you know how the story plays out? I get Sam, just like I got Finn, and you get heartbroken." She smirked at the shorter girl.

Even though Rachel was determined not to let Quinn show how much those words broke her, she gave Quinn an airy looked and turned away.

As she walked to the door, her face scrunched up and she began to cry, as she kicked Quinn out of her home.  Do not let the enemy show they got to you, Berry.

Sam Evans was amidst of driving to Rachel's house, and soon pulling into her driveway when the sound of  a door slamming shut , watching Quinn leaving, and seeing a small brunette sobbing through the window.

He furrowed his brows and just as he caught sight of 5'2 Rachel Berry,  in tears.

Wonder what happened to her? Sam stood there and pondered whether or not he should go to Rachel or just mind his own business.

But she looked so upset.. Sam finally made up his mind and with a sigh he pulled into the driveway and went to see what upset Rachel.

Upon his arrival, the door opened when he knocked,  but he can see and hear  the sobs from Rachel. When Rachel looked up at her visitor, startled that she was caught crying.

Her eyes were wide and red rimmed, wet tear tracks staining her flushed cheeks, her bangs and hair a mess. Her expression turned into one of embarrassment.

"Sam. What are you doing here? Oh, wait, do you need something? I'm sorry." Rachel stumbled over her words. She straightened her plaid skirt and began to close the door...

"No, actually I came to see if you were alright." Sam said, his green eyes concerned. "You looked pretty upset."

Rachel gave him a weak smile. She was touched. Sam really was a nice guy. She and he had barely said two words to each other the whole time since he's joined Glee in high school and yet here he is asking about her well being.

Rachel sighed, "Well, I'm fine I guess. It's just.. reality kind of hit me and some words were said that really hurt." Her lips wobbled as they tried to retain her sobs. She shrugged and let out a shaky breath.

Sam gave her sad smile and walked completely into the room awkwardly, no longer hovering by the doorway.

"I'm gonna take a wild guess and say this is about Finn."  Rachel shook her head, "Nope tjis time about you," She whispered. Sam sat down on the sofa next to Rachel. "Take a seat, let's play Dr. Phil. I'm a great listener. Scouts honor." Sam gave Rachel a goofy grin.

She giggled a little and shook her head. She never noticed before but Sam had the most beautiful eyes. "So .. what happened?"

The atmosphere immediately went from playful to serious.

"Quinn and I had a little talk," Rachel's expression went sour. "She basically told me that you and I are officially not going to happen. I don't know how she knew. Probably Kurt. I guess I just wasn't ready to hear that. I was just so sure that I'd have a chance with you finally." she broke off and shrugged.

"I'm so stupid." Rachel shook her head, lost in her thoughts.

Sam glanced at the girl with sympathy. He can definitely relate to Rachel. He was heartbroken when he found out Quinn had deceived him with Finn behind his back. He had also lost Santana after she had come to the realization that she was in love with Brittany but they had parted in good terms.

Sam put a reassuring hand on Rachel's shoulder and gave her a comforting smile. "You know, Rachel? Maybe Finn or Puck or St James  isn't what you need. They are  just not man enough for you. You need someone that will treat you right," Rachel looked up at him with her big brown eyes, a smile growing on her face. "You're a pretty high maintenance girl, and you need someone that will balance you out perfectly."

"You're a great girl, Rach. Maybe.. maybe we should try harder. Don't worry about Ice Queen. She doesn't control me or us. I want to give us a chance. I deserve a chance.  I've waited long enough don't you think?" Sam replied.

Her stomach did flip flops as Sam stroked her arm comfortingly. He finally got up and turned to give her one last glance and a parting smile. "Thank you, Sam. I'm glad we had this talk." Rachel called out and watched him walk out the door.

Sam put his hand on the door handle. He looked back and saw Rachel dip her head, sadness in her eyes. Sighing, he walked back to Rachel, his finger on her chin and gave her the most sensual kiss ever. Rachel returned his kiss. Wow how did they miss this in high school?!

Sam pulled back, staring into Rachel's eyes, kissing her again. "Soon we WILL go out okay babe? " he replied. Then left her home, promising to come back soon.

Maybe Sam was what she needed.

Rachel Berry knew now knew what she wanted.
