We into a café called the abalone. In the alley behind it there was a small shed that served as the loop entrance. We walk in. "If your sister walks into the loop then she is peculiar. If she walks into the present she is not peculiar." Miss Nightjar said. I crossed my fingers and walked out of the shed

     I felt Esme's hand clasp around mine.I squealed. I hugged her tightly and said "Your Peculiar!" "Very well" Miss Nightjar said "Come along." We were lead to a large children's home. Kids of all ages were in the yard. I noticed the hedge around the home was to prevent us from escaping. Great I thought. We walked inside and Miss Nightjar said "Evelyn will let you borrow one of her dresses." "Why do I need a new dress?" I asked "To hide that" she said pointing to the whole in my stomach. Evelyn came over to help me. Her hair was brown and wavy and her eyes were gray  blue. She pulled out a simple white and black dress and pointed to my room. I walked into my room which had two beds. One for me and one for Esme I thought. I would never let Esme sleep with any stranger especially now. I pulled on my dress and walked down stairs. Esme was still in her light blue dress and was playing with two twin girls about her age. A dinner bell rang and I grabbed Esme's hand and we sat down at the dinner table. Set before us was a large goose. I watched the twin sisters gobble it up with their razor sharp teeth. Another boy who's goose was cold warmed it up with his hands. I noticed most everyone had a different way of eating
and started to eat my food. Miss Nightjar announced mine and Esme's arrival and said who we would share a room with. "Aren't we going to sleep together?" I asked "Of course not! You will sleep with Agatha and your sister will sleep with Reese." Said Miss Nightjar. I stared coldly at Reese who must have noticed cause she asked Miss Nightjar why I was staring at her "Miss Gray we do not stare at others!" She said. I continued to stare at Reese who now didn't seem to notice. We finished eating dessert and went to bed. Agatha's room was a mess. At least  her part of the room. The older kids had curtains dividing each other's spaces. She pulled out the curtain and shut the door. On the other side she turned on a lamp and started working on something I didn't care about. I quietly drifted off to sleep thinking of the past events.
