Chapt. 1 ~ The Group

Third Person Perspective

>~<•>~<

The move to Jasper, Nevada had gone surprisingly well for (Y/n) and her little brother Percy. Percy wasn't happy about moving, but knew it would be better for them. They moved into a small apartment building that was behind a neighborhood.

Percy got his own room while (Y/n) slept on the couch (whenever she was even able to sleep). He wasn't happy about his sister not being able to be around all the time and not being able to sleep, but he made friends at a daycare and got to spend time with them when his older sibling wasn't around.

Life was easy for the young boy, except the bullies and the sad truth that his sister was overworked and unhappy.

(Y/n) went to high school; she needed to pass this time so she could get some more schooling to do more than just hosting. She only made enough to pay the bills and take care of her and her brother. But she knew they needed more. If she couldn't support him for medical reasons or life reasons, she'd never forgive herself.

She had a schedule. (Y/n) dropped Percy off at school, then went to her own school. During lunch or downtime, she worked on homework. After school she'd hangout with Percy, feed him, and take him to a friend's house or daycare. After dropping him off she'd go to work. She worked from 4 to 12. During her break she'd take Percy to daycare (unless the parent didn't mind him staying so late). After work she'd take him home, and feed him once more. The rest of her time is used finishing up work she didn't finish in school.

At least... This was the schedule until it recently got changed. Now she worked from 8 to 2 am, sometimes 4 am. (Y/n)'s become very tired. She worked almost everyday, except Saturday's. (Y/n) was a mother/sister, a student, and an employee. She could barely handle it. She had so much stress built up inside her.

(Y/n) had to handle bullies. She was a 19 year old still in high school after all. But thankfully, she's made a small friend group who've helped her in those situations. Jack, Miko, and Rafael. (Y/n) was very thankful for them.

Though... she also felt sad with them. They always wanted to hangout with her and unfortunately she always rejected them. (Y/n) wanted to hangout with them, but she had so much going on that she just couldn't. What made it worse was that she always lied to them.

"Oh I have a date—"

"It's my aunts birthday—"

"I'm allergic, but thanks for the offer—"

"My dog just died, so I think watching a movie with a dog in it isn't the best idea. I appreciate the offer though—"

(Y/n) was just so embarrassed of herself. The truth made her feel pathetic. But her brother always made her feel better. They hung out more due to the change of the hours, but he still went out with his friends so that left more time for (Y/n) to do homework.

Besides that, in school they were very friendly and spent time together whenever they could. They sat together in classes and in lunch. In gym they always went off to the side to talk, hangout, and maybe play a game or two. Raf helped (Y/n) with her homework and Miko always questioned the bags under (Y/n)'s eyes. Jack was just a genuinely nice person: always willing to help.

(Y/n) was quite happy with the group of friends she's made. And they seemed happy with her... until she'd decline their offers.

"(Y/n)!" A loud voice snapped (Y/n) out of her thoughts. Tiredly looking up, she saw her teacher, glaring down at her. "This is the 3rd time this week you've fallen asleep in this class! Tell me, missy! Are my lessons boring?"

"Wh-what...? N-n-no-no...!" (Y/n) squeaked a response, her face flushed, completely embarrassed. The teacher continues to glare at her and lay onto her. So much that she began to cry. It was the last class of the day, so when the bell rang, (Y/n) felt slightly relieved she could escape.

"Good! Now get out of my sight!" The teacher snapped. (Y/n) muttered a quick "yes sir" and gathered her belongings and left, other students following.

(Y/n) went to her locker to get her her things and put her stuff away. There she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning she saw it was Miko.

"Hey (Y/n)... are you ok?" Miko asked gently. (Y/n) sniffles and nodded, closing her locker and walking out of school with her. There they found Jack and Raf talking. When they turned they saw (Y/n)'s red and wet eyes.

"Woah, (Y/n), are you ok?" Jack asked, sounding very cautious. Raf looked good Miko.

"What happened?"

"(Y/n) was falling asleep in class, so the teacher started yelling at her." Miko explained, still giving her friend a worried look. With Miko's explanation, (Y/n) just broke down crying. At that point, most students had left and the only ones left were stragglers waiting for other students or waiting to be picked up.

"Hey! (Y/n) you're ok...!" Raf said trying to sound reassuring. Jack sat (Y/n) down and gently patted her back as she cried. Miko didn't really know what to do, but gave her a hug that (Y/n) gladly returned.

Even when she calmed down she didn't really say anything. Just wiped her eyes and apologized.

"There's nothing to apologize for, that teacher shouldn't have snapped at you the way he did." Miko retorted, sounding annoyed about the incident and worried for (Y/n). Raf nodded in agreement.

"I-I need to get going... I need to pick up my brother..." She mumbled to them. Jack helped her up, to which she thanked him. "Thank you guys. I don't know what'd I'd do without you. I'm sorry I'm always busy..."

In response, she got acceptance. They didn't know about her life outside of school, but they weren't going to constantly bug her about it. (Y/n) went to her car and the others went to their respective vehicles. She then left to get her little brother.

The kids arrived at base and started talking amongst themselves. They had already had their chat to the bots about (Y/n), but not amongst themselves.

"I wonder what her life's like that she's so busy." Miko pondered, jumping back on the couch. Jack sat next to her and so did Raf.

"Well she has a few different classes without us, maybe they're just harder and she's trying not to fail again." Raf suggested.

"She could also just have really strict parents and just not want to tell us." Jack piped in, having experience with a strict mother.

"But then why would she be so tired?" Miko wondered, that is until her thoughts trailed elsewhere and all three of them went to an entirely new topic. Ones that the bots could actually join in on.
