8. Combat
Nico
I sat in the small, dusty room that Percy had given me after I had been forced to work for him. The room was practically empty except for a small bathroom and the mattress that I slept on.
I glared at the door at the opposite side of the room. The door was always locked, and I only leave my room when I need to provide assistance in the training arena.
Sighing, I brought my legs up to my chest and thought about Will. The last time I had seen him was when we were utterly defeated by Percy.
I looked down at the floor, my thoughts switching to wondering what had happened to the other demigods of the rebel army. I knew Artemis, Athena and my father had been taken in to be slaves.
I gritted my teeth as I remembered what Percy had told me about what he had done to three Gods.
Artemis and Athena were assigned to be Jake and Alex's personal slaves, and my father was to be Percy's personal slave, along with Poseidon.
What bullshit. My cousin already has a slave, why does he need two?
That bastard.
I curled my fingers into a fist before stiffening as I heard footsteps approaching. I looked up to hear the lock click, and my door swung open.
Standing in front of me was none other than Percy Jackson. He was dressed in a black t-shirt that showed off the muscles in his arms, and black jeans.
Accompanying him was a familiar demigod with blonde hair. My eyes widened slightly as Will smiled at me.
"Get in." Percy said, grabbing Will by the arm and shoving him towards me. He stumbled, but I jumped up to steady him.
Once I made sure Will was okay, I narrowed my eyes at the King of Olympus. "You didn't have to push him like that. After all, you did almost kill him."
Percy rolled his eyes as he leaned against the doorframe. "I did, yes. But I healed him, and you knew that I could have left him to die. So drop it."
I bit my tongue in an effort to prevent myself from cursing at him. The man in front of me could, in fact, kill both of us instantly if he wanted to.
"Why did you bring him here?" I asked after I had calmed myself down. Percy smirked as he crossed his arms against his chest. "Isn't it obvious? He's going to be staying here with you."
My mouth dropped open and Will made a noise of surprise.
Percy chuckled at our reactions and said "I'm running out of spare rooms. So I decided to throw him in here with you, Nico. Hope you don't mind."
I wanted to tell him that I do mind, but in reality, I didn't. Having Will in here with me was actually going to make me feel a lot better.
"No." I muttered. "I don't mind."
Percy's eyes glinted and he nodded before turning to leave. As he was closing the door, he said "If you do end up having sex in here, please keep it down. I don't want to receive any noise complaints."
My face turned red and Percy closed the door behind him. I heard the lock click once more and Percy's footsteps retreated down the hall.
"That bastard!" I shouted the instant he had left. "He's so-Ugh!"
Will sat down on my mattress, his gaze glued to the door. "Just leave it. He put me in here with you for a reason."
I turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow. "Really?"
Will put a hand to his forehead as he said "Of course he did! Isn't it obvious!? He knows about our relationship, remember?"
I sat down next to him and placed my hand on his leg. "Yeah, I remember. So he's basically doing us a favour, isn't he? He could have separated us. But he chose to bring you to me."
Will nodded with a small smile. "Exactly. I don't know what his intentions are, but we can think about that later. We're together."
I chuckled and leaned in so that our noses were touching. I stared into his eyes before kissing him on the lips. Will eagerly returned the kiss, and he wrapped his arms around my waist.
I closed my eyes, putting any worries I had aside as I kissed my boyfriend.
I wanted everything to be normal again.
Leo
I yawned as I walked into the main room of our underground hideout. I had gotten around six hours of sleep, and I exhausted.
I was about to sit at the table when someone yelled "BOO!"
I yelped and whirled around to see two boys with brown hair standing behind me. Both of them had mischevious smiles on their faces, and they looked practically identical.
"So what Katie was saying was right. You're alive!" One of them chirped. "Nice to see you again, Leo!"
I stared at them before realizing that I was talking to Travis and Connor Stoll, the used-to-be pranksters at Camp Half Blood.
Of course they would be part of the rebel army.
"Y-Yeah, nice to see you guys again too." I said with a small smile. "What are you guys up to?"
Travis smirked as he put an arm around his brother's shoulders. I remembered that Travis was taller than Connor, and that was the only way I could tell who was who.
"We're heading out to continue to search for a way into Olympus. We'll see you around."
I waved as Connor and Travis slipped by me to leave the hideout. Once the door swung shut behind them, I turned and headed towards the training arena.
I stepped into the room, but tensed as I sensed something fly towards me. I pressed myself against the doorframe just as an ice spear flew past to hit the wall on the opposite side.
I gritted my teeth as I knew who had thrown that, and turned to face the son of Khione. Andrew was standing at the back of the training arena with an unreadable expression.
"My apologies. I didn't know it was you." He said as he lowered his arm. My eye twitched, but I told myself that getting into another argument with him would only piss me off even more.
"Whatever." I grunted as I moved away from the doorframe. "What are you even doing in here?"
Andrew laughed at that as he stretched his hand out. I watched as ice gathered on his palm before another ice spear appeared in his grip. "What do you think? This is a training arena. I'm here to train."
I sighed before an idea struck me. "Andrew."
The son of Khione didn't even look at me as he examined the ice spear he had made. "What do you want?"
"Fight me."
Now that got his attention. He glanced at me with surprise written all over his face. "What?"
I held my hand out and smiled as a ball of light appeared on my palm. "You heard me. I want to fight you."
Andrew planted the bottom of his spear on the ground as his lips curved up into a smirk. "Now this is interesting. Alright Valdez, I'll fight you. But do you even know how to properly use your new abilities yet?"
I shrugged as I clenched my fist, extinguishing the ball of light. "Not yet, but fighting you will help me improve. Let's do this."
Andrew laughed as he lifted his spear off of the ground to point it at me. "Indeed. Shall we start?"
I didn't even give him an answer before I charged at him, fire flickering to life around me. Andrew looked shocked before he swung his spear at me.
I ducked before turning, my hand shooting out to aim a blast of flames at him. Andrew dove to the ground to avoid being hit before he threw his weapon at me. I quickly put my hands up, and a wall of fire appeared in front of me to block his attack.
I snapped my fingers and the fire wall vanished into thin air. But just as I did that, Andrew suddenly appeared in front of me with ice coating his knuckles. He punched me in the jaw and I stumbled back due to the power he put in the hit.
"Come on Valdez! Is that all you got?!" Andrew shouted as he stepped back to let me recover. I glared at him as I massaged my aching jaw.
I thought back to all the training I had done with Aether and Hemera's powers, and I knew I had to try using them. I put my hand out and concentrated, feeling my palm grow warm.
I imagined a sword, and I looked down to see that I had created a weapon made out of light itself.
Wow. I didn't even think that was possible.
The Primordial's were even more overpowered than I had thought.
Andrew whistled as he stared at the light sword in my hand. "Good job. I'm impressed."
"Good, because you're going down, you icy bastard!" I yelled as I jumped at him with the sword raised. Andrew quickly put his hand up, an ice shield appearing out of thin air. My sword miraculously cut through the ice like it was paper, and I managed to cut the son of Khione on the arm.
Andrew cursed and he sliced at my chest with his spear, but I easily countered his attack before kicking him in the knee. He fell, and before he could do anything else, I pointed my sword at his throat.
"I win." I said, and Andrew chuckled before pushing my sword away. He got to his feet and his ice spear disappeared. "You did. You're quite good, Valdez. With more training, I'm sure you can give Percy a run for his money."
I frowned at that as I willed the light sword to vanish. I felt incredibly drained, and I knew I had to practice a lot more.
Beating Percy in a fight wasn't going to be easy.
I pushed that thought away before sticking my hand out to Andrew. "Maybe. Thanks for the fight. You're not bad either."
The son of Khione smirked before accepting my hand. "No problem. I'm looking forward to fighting with you again in the future. I'll win next time."
I snorted as I dropped his hand. "As if."
Andrew merely winked before he strode out of the training arena. I watched him leave before I sat down in the middle of the room.
I smiled and thought "Maybe we'll actually stand a chance against Percy."
