/thirty four/

there was a sadness in her eyes as she began to tell her story. "i had a boyfriend named shougo who i loved very much. he was japanese, but auditioned for sm entertainment because he knew korean entertainment was in a higher esteem that japanese."

i only sat there and listened to her.

"he got in and was required to move here." she continued. "but he didn't want to go to a new country alone. so i came with him."

with each word that she spoke, she was sounding more and more sober. or perhaps it was her sadness that made her sound completely coherent.

tell me a story about your childhood.

so when i was about four and my sister was three, she almost could have potentially killed me. we had furniture cleaner in one of the bottom cupboards. and the liquid was thick and white.

my sister thought it would be fun to play a prank. so she poured some in a cup and said to me, "here, drink this." and when i asked her what it was, she says, "yogurt. just drink it."

so stupid little me drinks all of it. and it tasted funny. so i asked her where she got it.

and she showed me a bottle that clearly said, "furniture polish."

i could have died.
