Chapter 14
Estelle's POV
That night, I slept easy. The girl called Hazel showed me to my rooms. As soon as she left, I drifted into unconsciousness. Pretty soon, the scenes I saw weren't pretty. I saw Percy yelling, possibly in pain. I saw Annabeth, scared and alone, shivering and huddling in the corner of a dark room. Worst of all, I saw my mom. She was lying on the ground, unmoving. I jolted awake. "Early waker, huh Will?" a voice said. I looked around my room. No one was there. So what was making the voices? Then a body morphed out of the shadows. A boy with light skin, an aviator jacket, and a t-shirt with a skull on it. He looked like every depressed kid on the streets. Next to him sat the complete opposite. There was another guy with an orange t-shirt and bright blond hair. I'm guessing that that was Will, and the one opposite from him was Nico. I had heard about them from Percy. I also heard from him that they were... special.
"Hey Nico. Will." I said. I was excited to see them because I wanted to ask them how it was like to be a demigod. I asked them, and they didn't seem too happy. "It's dangerous Estelle, deadly even to use devices like cell phones and computers. You're in enough danger as it is." Nico said grimly. "But I'm fine, I have a sword to protect me!" I said, pulling out my capped coloring crayon. "Nico's right. Not all monsters can be killed by just that sword of yours." Will added. He said it as if he was forced to, maybe just to not anger Nico. But as if all at once, rain started pouring down.
"We might have to go," Nico said to Will. "The rain will make it hard to find shadows." They both hugged me and waved goodbye before turning into the shadows. I took out my hoodie and brought out my umbrella. And just like that, I stepped into the cold damp rain.
Fiona's POV
I woke up great! That walk outside really must've done the trick. I rose from my bed and got changed. I was about to head out the door when I heard a *thump*. It was followed by an "Owwwwwwww!" and "This is so dumb." I turned to see a hand sticking out of my bed. I may have stifled a scream, and almost got out my celestial bronze knife received directly from my mother. But then I saw who it was, and my muscles eased up. "Uhhhhh, me-ow?" Josh said.
I helped him up and treaed him to one of Bombilo's great muffins and apple juice and asked him to explain what happened. Here's what I salvaged out of a man stuffing his face with food:
Josh had been able to throw the belt the other way, not letting the guards recognize his face. After, this was the closest building and he desperately tried to unlock the door, as the guards were coming up fast. He was able to pray to his father, and thankfully gave him a skill as simple as picking a lock. He was able to get in, and he had to camp out the night under my bed, leaving him roused and grumpy in the morning. I had to admire his bravery, being able to get away from those guards. I was about to walk away when he grabbed my arm. Now I don't really appreciate getting touched, especially if "he" was watching. "You know you owe me one now, right?" he said. "Yeah, now can you let me go?" I said in the nicest way possible. He let me go, and I knew that I had made a good friend.
Y'know, as long as he doesn't steal my lunch. Or denarii. Then we're good.
Josh's POV
As soon as I walked away from that strange girl, I went into camp training. I was not prepared, and by the end of training I was dripping in sweat. I hit the showers and settled into sleep. But as soon as I settled into my bed, a bright light flashed outside my room window. I left to go check it out. I had gotten very proficent at unlocking my bedroom locks, so it was easy to sneak out. When I walked outside, a harpy and a cyclops were standing there. "Ooh, ooh, hello funny person! Daddy has a message for you!" the cyclops said. "Yes, Messenger, made by Facebook, created in 2008." the harpy replied. The harpy read out of the back of his leg:
Lost daughter recovers her wits
The light she shines disappears in bits
Once the clouds begin to hail
Know that you quest to no avail.
Ocean's daughter must travel far
Messenger's son must reopen an old scar
When the guardian of them has been taken down
Only then will she be restored with the crown.
then they disappeared in a flash of light and there was a crowd behind me. The burly Asian man called Frank(I got his name last time when he showed me to my room) came up to me. He then turned to the crowd and shouted "Council meeting tomorrow!" and the crowd dispersed. At the same time, Estelle rushed up and whispered something in the other praetor's ear. The other girl praetor then whispered it in Frank's ear. Lastly, he said to me, "Estelle's mom is gone."
So I yelled the loudest I could, "A quest to rescue Estelle's mom!"
I didn't want to get her hopes up, but she seemed like a good person and I wanted to cheer her up somehow. Then something truly amazing happened. My dad showed up. He wasn't there for long, as he said "Busy Josh, ttyl" as he delivered a message to the rest of us standing there. "Neptune tells Estelle that yes, it is her mother, and that to tell Percy that Annabeth is there too. Also that " Then he vanished into thin air.
Percy's POV
I was pacing the deck, worrying my mind off for Annabeth. She must've been in so much danger, she'd been through Tartarus and it might bring back memories wherever she was. "Percy!" Estelle was shaking my arm. "Yeah?" I said, hoping for some news on Annabeth. "Annabeth is with mom, and they need to be rescued before the next hail. I think it's Daddy's fault." Then she ran away, probably to her room to prepare for the council tomorrow. News had gotten around, how that boy Josh received a prophecy from Ella.
Oh boy, was my father going to get Tartarus from me...
