Third Times the Tag!
Sal here!
I have been tagged by nastyspaghetti. This makes five tags in all (two of which I have not yet answered, but I will eventually, Erin, I promise). My word!
Incidentally, why does this always seem to happen on a night I indulge in one or two homemade pina coladas? A strange coincidence indeed, I tell you...
Anyway, here's the list of questions which I will do my bleary-eyed best to answer in a half-truthful way:
Now, in the words of a great man, "Okay, let's do it!"
1. It warms my heart to no end that any of my books get any attention at all, especially now when it's been two and a half years since this whole ball started rolling. Although it perhaps would make more sense to place the first book, In the Year of the Cat, in this position, to be honest I think I'm more proud of Time Passages.
I say that because 1) the very existence of a sequel is a testament to you guys' reads and remarks, without whom there would have been no incentive to carry it on past ITYOTC; 2) in my humble opinion my writing has (hopefully) matured resulting in the characters being considerably more realistic and relatable than they are in ITYOTC; 3) Danny is a mess; and lastly, and most importantly, I prefer writing for 1985 Freddie Mercury as opposed to 1977 Freddie.
Don't get me wrong, I love him in any era, and I think he was an absolute treat for the eyes during the NOTW period. However, he was still somewhat naive about people/the industry, as well as more frivolous in his personality, more extreme in his moods, and less pragmatic than he became in later years. In 1985, I see him as a bit (not much, but a little is a lot) more mature, more honest, and yet a lot more jaded as far as the way he approached the music business- as well as the people around him. Maybe I'm just a cynical person myself, and that draws me to this stage as far as portrayals go more than the others- but I find it much more familiar, and much more attractive.
But then again, it's Freddie, and when it comes to attraction, there's not much he has to do...
2. Book I'm least proud of? Easy. Sexy Deleted Scenes from ITYOTC. Not even a question. They were the worst, ask anyone. NEXT!
3. Define "guilty." Vulgar? Absurd? Sexual?
Okay, well- there's plenty of songs I like that fall into one of these categories- but since I want to move along so I can pour myself another colada, here's one that falls into all three: "Bang Bang", a song by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj- a bunch of tarts whose music I generally despise, but there's something about that one that just gets me so hyped up. What can I say. XD
4. Favorite 60s song? Oh, Lord. How about, in honor of my good friend Rudy, I keep it simple and yet somewhat accurate by giving that award to none other than BJ Thomas's "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head."
5. Favorite 70s song? Even worse! There's so many! And should I dare cop out by listing a Queen song? That would be too easy: "Dear Friends". Freddie's voice is so enchanting here, and I literally have to stop whatever I'm doing and just listen to him sing as if he's calming a frightened child during a thunderstorm, eventually lulling the little one to sleep.
Also, "Jealousy." But that's another story. ;)
6. Favorite 80s song? Here, I'll make it really simple: "Listen to Your Heart" by Roxette, and "Let's Go Crazy" by Prince. These are a couple in the top 20, but I am in no shape to type out all twenty of them, let's keep it moving!
7. Favorite 90s song? Basically anything by Savage Garden. "Truly Madly Deeply," "I Want You," "I Knew I Loved You," etc. Really great duo. Such romantic music.
8. I am a single pringle. And yes, I am tipsy.
9. 13th photo in the Gallery?
I'm sure there's a rational explanation for this.
10. Man, I'm so ugly I make Paul Prenter look like Leonardo DiCaprio.
11. Considering I only use three apps, really, I'll list them all: YouTube, Wattpad, and Instagram. Go me. XD
12. Song I hate? Easy. "The Miracle" by Queen. I just can't stand it, there's way too much going on and not in a good way, not in a Bo Rhap way. It's just- excessive and kinda dumb.
For complaints and concerns you may take yourself to the comment section and purge to your heart's content. But after all, YOU ASKED! XD
13. Edible food is my favorite. It's always such a bummer if I can't digest the damn stuff. Sorta defeats the purpose.
14. Oh, I dunno. I have heard my mother compare me to Claire Danes as far as my face goes, especially as she looks in that Baz Luhrmann version of Romeo and Juliet. So I guess we'll go with that.
15. Cartoons I watched as a kid. Oh, where do I begin?
Courage the Cowardly Dog, Samurai Jack, Tom and Jerry, Justice League, Dexter's Laboratory, Looney Tunes, Johnny Bravo, Teen Titans (THE ORIGINAL SERIES, I MUST MAKE THAT ABSOLUTELY CLEAR), Rocky and Bullwinkle, Peabody and Sherman, Scooby-Doo, Futurama (oh, wait, I started watching that when I was 20, sorry), and The PowerPuff Girls.
You're welcome.
16. Okay, here we go! Your turn!
