The idea of Lost!Gaster is due to his head trauma as you can tell caused he has memory damage and other mental issues...

He has to be looked after... he cannot be alone...

His arm was sliced off so he has only one hand... making him unable to carry heavy boxs or equipment...

He has a weak immune system meaning he gets sick easy...

His head needs to be periodically cleaned due the damage that it has been delt... same goes for his sliced off arm area or it will get infected...
