Part 2
As soon as the village was out of sight, we jumped into the trees. We started running in the trees, jumping from one to another. We headed north, just like we were supposed to. We didn't stop for about two hours. We were both slightly panting from the non stop run. We both dropped down from the tree and I sat on a old stump. I reached into my bag and pulled a large canteen of water out. I took a few sips and then shut it, not wanting to wast all of it.
"We still have a long way to go," Sasuke said, looking up ahead into the forest. At some point he had taken his headband off again. "We should keep going if we want to make it in a day."
"Oh I know," I said, standing up. We jumped back into the trees and started running again.
Two more hours later we came across a large town. We entered through the front and saw some kind of festival going on. Streets were lined with shops and people. Children and adults were everywhere. We pushed our way through the crowds and finally made it to the center of town. It was a lot more crowded than the side streets. People were chatting and shopping, everyone having something to do.
"Well, well, well," someone said behind us, making us jump. I looked at the familiar face of Kiba Inuzuka, his dog Akamaru and Shino Aburame. Shino had brown hair and round glasses on. His pale skin was mostly hidden from his long sleeved jacket and pants. Kiba had darker brown hair and sharp black eyes. His skin was more tan than Shino's. He wore a navy blue jacket and red face paint on his cheeks.
"Hey Kiba," I said. "Hey Shino."
"Never thought we'd see more Leaf Shinobi here," Shino said.
"Me neither," Sasuke said.
"What's going on with you two?" Kiba asked. "We're heading back home from a mission with Gaara and others."
"We're going to the Village Hidden in the Frost," I explained. "We're supposed to arrive tonight. Lady Tsunade assigned the two of us for the job."
"Just the two of you?" Kiba asked.
"That's a wise choice," Shino said. "Naruto would've messed it all up." Kiba and I laughed a little.
"He would've made us all want to quit," Sasuke sighed. Just then my stomach growled. My face flushed as the Sasuke smirked. "We should get a bit to eat now before we continue," he said. We said goodbye to Shino and Kiba and went looking for a place to get food. There were plenty of places, but they all seemed so crowded. Then we spotted a place on the corner of a line of shops. It wasn't busy or crowded. The people there were just talking, waiting for someone to go there. Sasuke and I did, getting a small container of take out for each of us. We left the town and found a shady tree to sit under. I opened my container and saw a neatly made lunch.
"It looks so good!" I exclaimed. I was about to dig in when I felt eyes watching me. Sasuke noticed, too, but didn't act any different. I tried to act normal, but the eyes felt like they were piercing me. My stomach growled, but I couldn't eat. Finally, Sasuke put his lunch in his bag and glared behind me.
"Come on, Sakura," he said calmly. "Let's go." We jumped into the trees and started running. The person was following close behind. Both of us could feel it. Sasuke then glanced at me and took off to the left. I went right and felt the presence going towards Sasuke. I stopped and closed my eyes, searching for Sasuke's presence. I felt it with another presence and noticed they both had stopped. I then ran towards them. I saw them up ahead and Sasuke was glaring at the person. I jumped next to him and he gasped.
"Get out of here, Sakura!" he shouted.
"No way!" I shouted back, taking my kunai knife out. "Your my teammate, so I can't leave you!!" Sasuke stared at me, but I kept my eyes on the masked cloaked person.
"So it's just the two of you?" the person asked in a deep, masculine voice. We didn't answered and kept glaring at the person. "I see," the man said. "Well, I though I could finish all of Team 7, but I guess I'll have to take you all down one at a time." He took a kunai knife out and Sasuke and I prepared for an attack. Just as he threw it, a swarm of bugs surrounded us. They all buzzed around us, knocking the katana away. Shino and Kiba then jumped inside the wall of bugs.
"I thought you guys left!" I exclaimed, looking gratefully at them.
"Akamaru sniffed someone following you," Kiba said. Akamaru barked at the person, growling when Kiba silenced him.
"I don't know who you are," Sasuke said, "but if you mess with Team 7, you'll mess with all of us!!" Kiba grinned and Shino looked at us.
"Hinata and Tenten should be coming back through this forest from the Hidden Mist Village," Shino said. "If they arrive, we'll be in good shape."
"Thank you for your help," I said. I glared at the masked person. "You wanted a fight? We'll give it to you!!"
"Not now," the masked person said. "If you have more reinforcements, it's not worth it yet. I'll withdraw for now." He then disappeared leaving nothing behind.
"Hey!!" a girl shouted, running through the trees towards us. Her short brown hair was tied in two small buns on top of her head. She had blue eyes and pale skin, wearing a pink shirt, shorts and blue shoes. She had a huge scroll on her back that had a red and white on it. The girl next to her had long navy blue hair and pale purple eyes. She had a tan coat on with shorts. Each of them had two pouches for kuni knifes and ninja stars.
"Hinata! Tenten!" I exclaimed, looking at them. Hinata smiled at me.
"It's been a while, Sakura," she said. We were going to talk some more, but Sasuke cleared his voice. I looked over at him.
"If we want to make it by tonight, we should get moving," he said. I sighed.
"I know, Sasuke," I said. "We'll see you back at the Hidden Leaf in a few weeks!" Sasuke had already started running, so I had to speed up to catch him. We didn't talk for about a hour, but when we did, Sasuke didn't seem to listen. We kept running until it was around 2 in the afternoon. He started slowing down and that's when I noticed it was starting to get colder. I zipped my jacket up and noticed Sasuke was taking something out of his bag. He held a cloak out to me and I took it.
"I packed these just in case it got colder," he said.
"Thanks," I said. We ate a little and then started running again. By the time we started seeing snow and frost covered mountains, it was around 4. Sasuke didn't want to talk, so I didn't start any conversations.
Finally, we dropped to the ground when the trees got snow on them. We trudged through the snow, not making a peep. Just as we got to the base of a mountain, we felt someone watching again. I inhaled sharply, but Sasuke didn't make a move. He just stopped, putting his hand in his kunai knife bag. When he threw it at the thing, it dodged, jumping from the trees and onto the ground in front of us. It was a girl Shinobi with a uniform on, but the uniform was made with long sleeves, long pants and a light jacket. She had pale strawberry colored hair and sparkling pink eyes. Her headband had a snowy aqua color and was on her forehead. The metal part had three simple snowflakes on it. The girl looked around 13 or 14, but she seemed skilled and held a kunai knife.
"Who are you?" she asked in a slightly high voice. "Why have you come to the Hidden Frost Village?" The Hidden Frost Village. Sasuke and I made it to our destination.
