Werewolf AU

Shuichi's POV

It was about 9:40 at night, and for some reason I decided to go on a stroll around a nearby park. I guess I was feeling a bit melancholy and lonely, though I knew walking around at night when most people are asleep, wouldn't help with that.

The outside air was calming. It was like the cool breeze was telling me that, things will get better soon. My life overall was doing fine, I've just been pretty lonely lately. My friends either had exciting things going on, or they have a partner to spend their time with. But me? I'm a shy and awkward detective, and because of my work, I usually don't have time to be looking for love, even though the loneliness was starting to get to me.

I suppose that's why I'm on a late night walk, as a way of clearing my mind. I sat down on a bench and stared up at the sky. There was a full moon with bright white stars consuming the black space. I sighed and closed my.

As I was thinking about random stuff, my eyes shot open at the sound of nearby rustling bushes. My heart started to pick up it's pace as I looked around for the source of the noise. While my heart was speeding in my chest, my brain was trying to get me to relax by coming up with reasonable and logical answers as to what was in the dark leaves.

My eyes landed on a single small patch of bushes. I moved closer to it, ignoring the fact that every sense of my shy self was screaming at me to run away and lock myself in my room. Just as I was about to reach my hand out, a body lunged at me, pinning me to the ground.

When I opened my eyes I was meet with sparkling purple ones and a huge smile. I inspected the face that was above my own. It looked to be a boy maybe around my age, but what caught my eye were the wolf-looking ears on top of his head.

"Hello!" He said with child-like giddiness in his voice.

I was hesitant to speak at first, but I thought it might me rude if I didn't, "U-um hi?"

"What's your name!?"

"M-my name is Shuichi. W-who are you?"

"I'm Kokichi! You're a human right!?" Kokichi asked, getting more excited by the second.

"Uh, yes? And what are you?"

"I'm a werewolf silly!"

"W-werewolf?" He nodded.

"Um, can you get off of me please?"

Kokichi got off me and I got a full look at him. He had a tail that was like a husky's tail just a bit smaller. The clothes he wore were messy and had scratches and tears on them at the ends. His hair was dark purple that became a lighter purple at the tips, and they seemed to fly in several directions, practically defying gravity.

"So why are you in the park at night? Are you some weirdo or something?" Kokichi asked with that childish tone.

"Ah, well, I was on a walk."

"Why?"

"I was trying to clear my mind."

"Oh.....why?"

I sigh, "I guess I'm just feeling a bit lonely."

"And you thought going on a walk late at night would help with that?" He spoke with sarcasm laced in his voice.

"S-shut up."

Kokichi giggled and my cheeks started warming up. We chatted for a few hours and got to know each other. I learned that werewolfs like him live deep within the forest and they usually seclude themselves from humans in fear that they may hurt or threaten them. And he apparently got kicked out of his 'pack' for some reason, and ended up here. Apparently he's lonely too. Kokichi said he often annoyed other werewolfs even though he was just trying to have fun, and they pushed him away. It turns out that we have a lot in common, and we bonded quickly.

I didn't even realize how late it was until I got a message from my neighbor. Shes very kind and we are slight friends. She said she saw me leave my house and was concerned that I hadn't back back yet, not in a lovingly way, more like a motherly way. I turned to a laughing Kokichi and smiled.

"Hey Kokichi?"

He stopped laughing and looked at me with a smile, "What is it Shu?"

I blushed softly at the nickname, "It's getting kind of late, and you don't really have a home so, w-would you like to stay at my place for the night?" My blush increased and I looked away.

"Of course Shu! Being with you is super fun!"

I smiled and stood up, reaching a hand out for Kokichi to take. He took it and we walked back to my house. I unlocked my door and he immediately stared in awe. He ran in and jumped onto my couch, snuggling into it at first touch like a cat. I chuckled and locked my door behind me and joined him on the couch.

Kokichi smiled up at me and moved himself onto my lap. I bushed and he cuddled into my shoulder while his tail curled around my side. My arms wrapped around his waist, pulling him closer to me. We both blushed. Soon enough, we both fell asleep in each others arms with a big blush on our faces. His presence made me happy and I think he likes mine too.

I'm happy I met Kokichi, I think he's the piece of me I've been looking for.
