⎯⎯⎯ Julia Cortez has probably been around so many dead bodies and forensic evidence that she can't even keep count to how much she's encountered.

I guess that's what she could expect being the forensic specialist in Indianapolis.

And despite being around dead bodies and bones and forensic evidence so much, she was always bubbly. Her great, sunshiny personality was always in contrast to what she did for a living.

And now wanting to fall into her family's footsteps and wanting something of her own that she didn't need to use her family name for, Julia was pretty content with the way she lived her life.

She'd go to work, do her thing and read autopsies and evidence and work hard and then go home to her cats and rinse and repeat. It was the normal nine-to-six routine that she'd grown accustomed to and frankly, there was nothing she wanted to change about it.

And then the BAU came along and suddenly, her plans have changed. After consulting in on their case regarding a local bomber, she gets offered a job that she just simply can't refuse.

Problem, though?

The roots within the family tree would grow with nepotism if she goes back to the place her parents had become legends in within the FBI. And after years of Julia never using her name for her own benefits, she worried that others would think otherwise. That that was the reason she got into the BAU.

So she created two rules.

One, don't let anyone know just who you're related to or tied to.

Two, don't fall in love with the nerdy genius with the big IQ no matter just how cute he is.

And she is going to stand by the last one even if it's the last thing she does.

guys i couldn't resist another fic i'm sorry

so backstory:
i was visiting my grandma and grandpa and they love law and order: svu so i watched a couple of episodes and i thought jamie gray hyder was gorgeous and i wanted to use her as a faceclaim hehe

also i am fully well aware jamie gray hyder was in an episode of criminal minds in season 13 but we're gonna pretend that doesn't exist! k? k.

and i figured out exactly what i wanna do for the plot and stuff and how i want it to end so i'm writing from season 11 to season 15-

1) i love me some later seasons reid
2) i always called s11 the black sheep season bc it's not my favorite but i'm really gonna try and push through it solely for the plot hehe

also this might actually be the first criminal minds oc i post with two parents who are still alive oops 😭
