twenty-four
[twenty-four: no more waiting, it's you and I forever]
Caspian had never expected to be visited by the Great Lion himself only a few short months after the Pevensies had their last adventure - but Caspian was happy nonetheless. It was true that he missed his friends dearly, especially Genevieve who he worried for the most because he knew what she was going back to and he didn't know if she had gotten out of the marriage, got married or if the wedding had even occurred yet for time was certainly different in Narnia than in the land of England they had originally come from. He did have hope though for he had Lilliana by his side, a girl from England who had become one of his dearest friends despite their overgrowing romantic chemistry that they both ignored for they were both oblivious to each other's feelings. He was grateful to have he r in his life!
"Caspian?" Lilliana asked him, the King turning his head to look at the maiden who had accompanied him in the garden. "Is something wrong?"
"I'm just thinking about them." He muttered, Lilliana frowning as she sat beside him in the gardens. "I just wish I knew how everything turned out."
"It's okay Caspian," Lilliana stated as he took the King's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "I'm sure that Aslan would help them if they were going down the wrong path."
"But what if he hasn't?" Caspian asked his friend as he let a tear fall from his cheek, Lilliana reaching up and wiping it with her thumb.
"Is this about her?" Lilliana asked him, Caspian looking away at the thought of the girl he used to be in love with. "You love Susan. We're friends so you can just say so."
"What if he just let them suffer?" Caspian changed the topic and Lilliana sighed as she kept holding his hand for comfort.
"Then clearly you have no hope." A new voice interrupted and both Caspian and Lilliana gasped as they looked to their left, their smiles widening upon seeing the Lion.
"Aslan." Caspian breathed out as he smiled to the lion, Lilliana bowing towards the lion of many tales with a smile on her face. "What are you doing here?"
"Edmund made it to the wedding." Aslan told him, Caspian's smile widening as Lilliana squeezed his hand happily - hoping it would calm the King's nerves.
"That's great, so the wedding's off?"
"I'm afraid not." Aslan stated and watched as Caspian frowned in confusion. "Her father is still adamant the wedding proceeds despite the objection."
"That's ridiculous." Caspian stated as he stood up, pulling Lilliana up with him. "We have to help them."
"And that you shall." Aslan stated as he walked towards them, the lion sending a smile to Lilliana before turning to Caspian again. "Do you still have their rings?"
"In my chambers upstairs." Caspian stated before sending Aslan a confused look. "Why?"
"Because we need to get you to that wedding."

Finally his lips touched hers and the world was slowly disappearing around them, along with all of their worries, troubles and problems. Genevieve made him feel like none of that mattered. It was a small yet warm kiss and despite being in front of a room of people they didn't care. He honestly never knew a first kiss in this county could be so innocent, so intimate and electrifying. Her lips were moving in perfect sync to his, his hands feeling her waist; Edmund pulled her closer, the kiss deeper, more passionate. He felt her hands on the back of his neck as she played with the ends of his hair. A smile grew on his face as it started to tickle, finally they pulled apart both happy and contempt with life.
"I can't believe you're here." Genevieve whispered as she smiled at him, tears still streaming down her face. "How did you know?"
"Ron and Eustace planned it all," Edmund whispered to her and Genevieve's grin widened as she met Ron's eye in the crowd. "They both figured out they were in the same town and planned everything while we were in Narnia."
"That's am-"
"Get your hands off my daughter." John Potter sneered as he pulled Genevieve away from Edmund, his glare upon Edmund so dark that if looks could kill Edmund would be a whole lot more than six foot under by now. "Who do you think you are?"
"Edmund Pevensie." Edmund stated confidently as he looked John in the eye. "And I'm the man your daughter is in love with."
"Impossible!" John sneered as he kept bis daughter behind her. "I suggest you leave!"
"Well I'm sorry but I can't do that!" Edmund stated as he crossed his arm. "I am in love with your daughter and I can't watch her marry a man who she doesn't love."
"Then leave," John shouted before turning to the minister. "Please continue."
"No Father!" Genevieve yanked her hand out of her father's grip, ignoring the stinging sensation in her arm as she looked at him. "No more."
"What?" John asked incredulously as he turned to his daughter with an angry look upon his features. "You would rather spend another week with this measly school boy who won't be able to provide for you than spend your days with this dashing young man who can give you everything?"
"Father," Genevieve muttered as she looked at him with pleading eyes. "Jonathan can give me the world at his fingertips and I would never truly be happy. I love Edmund and didn't you agree if he turned up the wedding could be stopped?"
"Regardless, what I say goes Genevieve and as long as you are my daughter you shall never have the blessing for this man." John stated.
"Now John-" Marcus started as he took up but John only glared at him.
"Sit down Marcus!" He sneered and there was silence throughout the room as the two Potter's looked at each other.
Then Genevieve laughed heartlessly, looking down at him with an unreadable look in her eye. John expected her to give in. But she didn't. Instead of lowering her head she lifted it, a stony glare carved into her dark eyes as fury blurred her sight but she tightened her jaw and glared at him. She wasn't having it anymore.
"Firstly how dare you treat Uncle Marcus like that, he is more of a father than you have ever been." She seethed as she looked at him with a glare. "I hope you know you are no father of mine."
And with that John Potter, shortly followed by Agatha Pole, walked out of her life for good.
"So what now?" Genevieve asked as she looked at Edmund, her eyes trained on his smiling face as she watched him look at Ron who nodded his head and he smiled.
"I need a moment with your uncle."

Edmund Pevensie wanted to do this right!
He knew after Genevieve disowned her father after his reaction to Edmund that he could no longer ask John Potter for his daughter's hand in marriage, for he knew that his opinion no longer valid in Genevieve's life. Yet Edmund still wanted to be a gentleman!
"So you're Edmund Pevensie? The Narnian boy?" Marcus asked as he fixed himself a scotch from the bar, offering one to Edmund who only shook his head.
"Yes sir." Edmund stated as he looked at Marcus, the man nodding as he looked at him.
"You know, Genevieve and I didn't used to get along." Marcus stated as he looked at Edmund as he walked around the room with a scotch in his hand. "I never took much care for her because she was there when my sister died and I used to always think it was her fault. Then when she came to stay with me I realised how much she is like her mother. How selfless and brave she is and how much she cares for everybody around her. Do you know how much she spoke about you after the first time she went to Narnia?"
Edmund only shook his head.
"I spent my whole believing that those stories of Narnia, that wardrobe in the back of my house were all but make believe used to stop nightmares at night - a way to bring happiness in dark times such as ours where there are wars around every corner. But what of it now?" Marcus asked as he looked at Edmund with a smile. "Whether you came from that place or not, you make Genevieve so incredibly happy and she needs you in her life."
"So you know what I've come to ask?" Edmund asked and Marcus only nodded as he put his scotch down on the table after taking a small drink.
"Everybody wants a happy ending. Right? But it doesn't always roll that way." Marcus started as he looked at Edmund, watching as Edmund's exterior deflated before he smiled. "Maybe this time. Maybe it's Genevieve's time to be truly happy."
"So do I have you blessing?" Edmund asked and Marcus nodded as he held out his hand for Edmund to shake.
"Welcome to the family boy!"

Genevieve stood in front an all familiar mirror, her eyes trailing over the glass as she visibly remembered. The lion was still encrusted upon the top of her mother's mirror, the memories lingering within it as she remembered her second adventure to Narnia when she first met Caspian and defeated Miraz.
"I miss you Casp." Genevieve whispered as she looked to the ground, her tears falling freely down her cheek as she thought of him.
"I miss you too." Someone stated and Genevieve's head snapped up to the mirror and she gasped, a large smile forming on her face.
She could no longer see her reflection in the mirror, her eyes gazing over the handsome King who was standing in the reflection with a smile on his face.
"What are you doing here?" Genevieve asked him with wide eyes. "How is this possible?"
"Did you really think I'd miss the opportunity to go to your wedding?" Caspian asked with a laugh. "Now can you help me get out of this mirror?"
Genevieve laughed as she tried to press her hand on the glass, her hand passing through as she reached towards Caspian who grabbed it from the other side as she pulled Caspian through - the gateway to Narnia closing again. Genevieve turned to her Narnian brother, his face tight, every thought focused on masking his fears - his eyes dimmed. Caspian reached out and hugged her tightly, his arms as shields of love, a hug so warm yet so different than a motherly embrace or the lover's embrace Edmund gave her. When they finally parted, Genevieve felt his absence as a cold wind, wishing she could keep him wrapped around her like a well worn sweater for always.
But she knew he would one day have to return to Narnia.
"How long are you here?"
"Till midnight or the end of the wedding, Aslan's orders. Now," Caspian clasped his hands together, his eyes glinting mischievously. "where is Edmund?"
"The room next door, I wouldn't disturb if I were you."
"Tough luck, I need to give him something." Caspian stated as he looked at her and sent her a wink before retreating from the room - leaving Genevieve confused as she watched him go.
What were they up too?

Genevieve didn't know what to expect when everybody was called back to the aisle, her gaze lingering on Edmund as he walked into the room with Caspian by his side - the few teenagers who had been to Narnia gasping upon seeing him, Susan especially looking with wide eyes.
"Genevieve Ginerva Potter," Edmund started as he looked at her with a small smile. "I am far from the perfect person. I have made too many mistakes to count, some of which have hurt others but the biggest mistake I ever made was thinking that I would ever stop loving you. I spent so long dreaming about this moment, whether I would be able to get to you before you were forced into a marriage you didn't want - no offense Jonathan for Gen tells me you're a lovely man - or if I could stop the wedding and be here to spend my very own eternity with you."
"Ed..."
"I have spend every single second wondering how I was so lucky to have met you, to have you choose me of all people to share your heart with and to share a future with. I love everything about you and nothing will ever stop me from doing so, even if we have our differences and we argue I will treasure those too because I want to spend every single second of the rest of my life with you. Now I know I've done this before and I'm lucky enough to have the same ring," Edmund started as he got down on one knee in front of Genevieve, who was holding back tears. "but I want you to be the thing I wake up to everyday and the woman I can settle down with and figure out the rest of my life with."
"Edmund..." Genevieve whispered with a smile as tears fell down her cheeks, the sight so pure that even Jill was on the verge of tears across the room as Jonathan pulled her into a hug.
"Genevieve Ginerva Potter, will you marry me... again?" Edmund asked her, a bright smile on her face as she nodded.
"Yes."

The room buzzed with excited chatter and children ran between the tables in a good natured game of tag, the sight so pure for anybody to see as they wanted for the newlyweds to join them in the great hall. Then the bride and groom entered and applause spread across the room. There was the loud scraping of chairs as the guests got up for a standing ovation and the happy couple made their way to the head table, smiling and holding hands. They sat in front of a bouquet of baby pink roses and the groom leaned in for a kiss. There were cheers and there was a whoop in the distance, the bride looking over and smiling at her cousin who was clapping for her.
Genevieve looked down at her dress with a smile, her new and improved dress was swapped at the boutique by the seamstress because she noticed that Genevieve had been staring at it weeks ago and when she tried it on she was certain it was the dress. It also reminded her very much of her wedding dress from Narnia, the floral designs similar to the leaves she had on her old dress and it cascaded down her body as if it were made for her.
And she felt beautiful!
The baby pink roses flowers entwined between her fingers as she looked across the hall with a smile, the setting so familiar as her face shone with excitement as she threw the flowers above the crowd of guests all ready for the catch the bouquet to see who was destined to marry next.
"Hey, no fair." She heard Lucy shout, a playful tone in her voice. "This is the second time he's caught it."
Genevieve turned around and saw that once again Peter had caught the bouquet, the majority of the guests laughing as Peter's cheeks turned a light shade of pink. Genevieve raised an eyebrow as she watched his guest place a kiss to Peter's cheek, Peter smiling as he took her hand and led her to the bar and away from the crowd.
Amelia Kirke clearly had Peter whipped.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, it is now time for the bride and groom's first dance." Someone announced and Edmund turned to his wife before bowing and taking her hand.
"May I have this dance Mrs. Pevensie?" He asked and Genevieve giggled as she took his hand and smiled back.
"You may Mr. Pevensie."
And so the two walked over to the dance floor, their eyes trained on each other as their bodies began to move in sync to form one beautiful form of art that very few had seen so pure before.
"Isn't it funny, that if I had made a different decision I wouldn't be here now? If I had never entered that wardrobe, my fate would've been written in different ink. Because if I was sat here in a different universe, without you by my side, I would have never become complete." Genevieve commented as she looked up at her husband, her forehead leaning against his as he heartily chuckled and placed a sweet kiss to her lips as they danced. "It feels like I've waited so long for you to walk into my life."
"No more waiting, it's you and I forever." Edmund promised as he looked at her. "Mrs. Pevensie."
"And I wouldn't have it any other way Mr. Pevensie."
While Genevieve couldn't give him a magnificent palace or all of the jewels in the world, there are some things that she could promise to give to him and he could give in return. She promised that she would love him until the end of her days on this Earth. She promised him that she would never stop appreciating everything that he does for her. She promised to never stop cherishing the relationship and life that they have built together in both worlds for they were her fondest memories that she wanted to cherish. And in return he promised the same and more. Edmund promised that he would always do his best to fill her life with happiness and laughter and when times are bad, he would be there to hold her hand and kiss her and embrace her. They promised that they would never give up on each other and will never give up on themselves because they promised to always love each other no matter what happens.
Whether it is mere fate or coincidence that brought them together, it does not really matter. All we know is that they were meant to be together forever. She was made for him and he was made for her. They are, despite their differences, a perfect match and they complement each other so well. They always bring out the best in each other and they know that even though there are billions of people in the world, they know that without a doubt in their minds that their significant other are the only person in the world for them. Genevieve and Edmund are a match made in Narnia and a perfect match here on Earth.
If Genevieve had been told on that train ride that the very boy with raven hair who had given her strange looks would one day be the love of her life, she would have laughed. For how could a broken girl ever fall in love with someone who couldn't even look at her? But years on she realised that she had found her one, the only person who meant everything to her.
He was a broken boy and she was a broken girl.
They were the Safety Pins, that kept the broken pieces of their hearts together forever more.
And they wouldn't have it any other way!
