three

[three: she turned up in a wedding dress]

"Genevieve?" Edmund asked, his eyes fixated on the beautiful girl who stood across the deck who had tears in her eyes as she looked at her husband.

Genevieve didn't know what came over her as she ran at Edmund and immediately embraced him as tears fell from her cheeks, the Pevensie boy picking her up and swinging her around lovingly before he placed a much needed kiss to her lips - many of the crew members watching with soft smiles at the pair. Edmund placed his wife down for a moment as they pulled apart from their kiss, Genevieve's hands immediately interlocking behind his neck as he placed one of his on her waist and another on her face as he wiped her tears away.

"I can't believe you're here," Genevieve whispered with a smile as Edmund wiped away a few tears. "I lost hope for a moment."

"Well you can't have an adventure in Narnia without me." Edmund said cheekily and the girl only smiled as he kissed her again, unaware of the glaring boy who was soaking as he tried to dry his hair with a towel.

"Well this is sweet but I appear to have been forgotten," Ron stated as he dried himself off before looking at the Pevensie children with a smile and opening his arms. "bring it in."

"Ron!" Lucy squealed happily as she embraced the boy who wrapped his arms around her lovingly before they pulled apart - Lucy pouting as she looked at him. "You're taller than me, this isn't fair."

"Hi Lu, I've missed you best friend."

"I've missed you too." Lucy whispered truthfully before Ron looked to Edmund who looked at the boy with a teasing smirk.

"Who are you and what have you done with little Ron?" Edmund asked and Ron placed a hand over his chest and gasped dramatically for effect as he mocked offence on his face.

"Little? I'll have you know I was average height for my age back then." Ron stated before the older boy pulled him into a hug. "Missed you lad."

"How long have you two been here?" Edmund asked as he walked back over to Genevieve and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, the girl cuddling into his embrace.

"A few days, we've just settled in." Genevieve stated as she smiled warmly at her husband who smiled in return.

"I must look a mess." Edmund whispered in embarrassment before a crew member overheard their conversation as he walked by.

"You're looking better than she did, she turned up in a wedding dress." The crew member said and Edmund felt Genevieve flinch at the words and he frowned as he tried to look at her but she refused to meet his gaze.

"What?" He whispered before a loud commotion could be heard on the other side of the ship where Reepicheep was sat upon Eustace who was screaming at the mouse and scrambling in panic.

"Whose that?" Genevieve asked and Edmund only sighed.

"That is our cousin Eustace."

"Calm down." Reepicheep demanded as the boy scrambled underneath the noble mouse.

"Ahh! Get that thing off me! Get that thing off me!" Eustace screamed as they all walked over to where I mouse had stepped off of Eustace - allowing him to scramble back.

"Reepicheep!" Lucy greeted and the mouse's eyes widened before he bowed towards the Pevensie's with a smile.

"Your Majesty."

"Hello, Reep. What a pleasure." Edmund stated as the mouse bowed again happily.

"The pleasure is all mine sir.But first, what to do about this, this hysterical interloper?" He asked referring to Eustace whose eyes were still wide with shock.

"That giant rat thing just tried to claw my face off!" He accused and Reepicheep only rolled his eyes as he looked at Eustace.

"I was merely trying to expel the water from your lungs sir."

"He talks! Does anyone understand? He just talk!" Eustace screamed and Genevieve only giggled slightly and Eustace glared at her.

"He always talks."

"Actually its getting him to shut up that's the trick." Caspian stated and everyone laughed, including the noble mouse.

"The moment there is nothing to be said your highness,I promise you I will not say it."

"Who's the cute boy?" Ron whispered to Lucy who looked around confused for a moment until she noticed his gaze was on Eustace and she furrowed her eyebrows at his choice of words.

"Cute? That's our cousin Eustace." Lucy whispered back and watched as a smirk formed on Ron's face.

"Kind of dashing isn't he?" He asked and Lucy only chuckled confusedly as she shook her head and looked back at the commotion.

"If you say so Ron..."

"I don't know what kind of prank this is. I wanna wake up right now!" Eustace shouted and Genevieve flinched at his shout as Edmund tightened his grasp around her.

" Perhaps we can throw him back? And being abducted by a kind of zeepiratencarnival." Caspian suggested and Genevieve immediately whacked him on the arm and shook her head.

"I demand to know just where in the blazes am I?" Eustace shouted before his attention was drawn to a minotaur who spoke.

"You're on the Dawn Treader. The finest ship in Narnia's navy." Tavros stated, watching as Eustace fainted upon seeing him and frowned in confusion. "Was it something I said?"

"See to him for me." Caspian asked his crew who nodded towards their King.

"Yes, your majesty."

"Men and Genevieve. Behold our second set of castaways.Edmund the Just and Lucy the Valiant.High King and Queen of Narnia." Caspian introduced the two too his men before Edmund leaned into Caspian.

"It's actually just King." He whispered and Caspian just laughed.

"Peter isn't here, live a little Ed."

"Aslan." Edmund whispered as he walked with the group into the Captain's room - his hand clutching Genevieve who looked at an embroidery of Aslan on a tapestry.

"Look! Susan's bow and arrows." Lucy pointed out as she saw Susan's belongings in a glass case and pointed towards them with a smile.

"Lucy." Caspian addressed her and Lucy turned around and smiled at what was in his hand.

"My Healing Cordial and dagger." She went to grab them before she stopped and smiled sheepishly. "oh, may I?"

"Of course. They are yours." Caspian stated as she took her belongings with a smile.

"Peter's sword." Edmund pointed out happily as she looked at the sword in the case where Caspian walked over and removed it.

"Yes.I looked after as promised." Caspian stated before he held it before Edmund as if wanting him to take it. "Here. Hold it if you wish."

"No, it's yours. Peter has given it to you." Edmund said deflated and Genevieve just squeezed his hand.

"It's okay Ed." She whispered in his ear when Caspian turned away.

"I did save this for you though." Caspian said as he threw Edmund's electric torch over to him.

"Thanks." Edmund stated with a fake smile on his face before Genevieve kissed his cheek to cheer him up.

"At least it still works." She said and Edmund muttered whilst Ron just rolled his eyes.

"Barely."

They all stood around a table where a map of Narnia and the seas were drawn across it, Caspian looked at his friends and smiled down at the map as he pointed out specific details that had changed and what had occurred in their time apart.

"Since you've left, the Giants in the North had surrendered unconditionally. And we defeated the Calormen army of the great desert. There is peace across all of Narnia." Caspian stated and Edmund's eyes widened as he looked at the King.

"Peace?"

"For three years." Caspian confirmed and Edmund shared a surprise look with Genevieve who smiled.

"I was surprised too." She said before Lucy smirked at Caspian.

"And have you found yourself a queen in those three years?" Lucy asked and Caspian only looked away and bit his lip as he shook his head.

"Yes please tell us everything." Ron pleaded with his best friend but Caspian only chuckled.

"No. Not one to compare to your sister." Caspian said and Lucy looked sad for a moment but smiled anyway.

"Hang on, so there are no wars to fight and no one is in trouble...then, why are we here?" Edmund asked and Caspian only shrugged.

"That's a good question.I have been asking myself the same thing." Caspian said and Edmund nodded before looking at the map.

"So, where are we sailing?"

"To get back the throne from my uncle. He tried to kill my father's closest friends and most loyal supporters. The seven Lords of Telmar. They fled to the Lone Islands. No one has heard from them since." Caspian explained and Lucy's eyes furrowed

"So you think something has happened to them?" Lucy asked and Caspian only sent her a determined look.

"Well, if it has...It is my duty to find out." He said and Lucy and Ron both physically gulped.

"What lies east of the Lone Islands?" Edmund asked and Caspian only turned to Drinian, the captain, and urged him to answer.

"Uncharted waters. Things that you can barely imagine. Tales of sea serpents and worse." He said and Edmund and Genevieve both froze at that statement.

"Sea serpents?" They asked simultaneously before laughing together at their common thought.

"Alright captain, enough of your tall tales." Caspian joked and Ron only scoffed.

"No do go on, I love becoming terrified with stories of demons and sea serpents across a sea I am sailing." Ron stated sarcastically before everyone looked at him in confusion of his sudden change in mood. "Okay, I'm going now."

"Is he always like this?" Edmund asked Genevieve as Ron walked out and she only sighed.

"He's got a bit of an attitude, I think he's just emotionally deprived." Genevieve whispered back and Edmund nodded.

"He sounds like Peter on most days." Lucy commented.

And they all laughed at the young Queen's statement.
