[thirteen: You continue to surprise me Sweetheart]

The black sky gradually turned into dim grey and the illumination of stars got languidly lusterless. Millions of stars in the ebony sky started hiding their brightness and got slowly dissipate, as if someone was going to coming. Divergent birds were gently flying in manifest sky and their dulcet dawn chorus was easily audible. The first orange hued rays appeared on the skyline, which went through the clouds and the prodigious sky was easily visible. The sun came out of its abode across the brilliant orange horizon and glimmered in the sky. The sparkling sun started slowly rising up the scarlet skyline, which clearly differentiated the sky and the land. But among them was one star, one that was glimmering through the orange hues with no sign of leaving. Gael awoke to the morning sun, a smile littering her face as she stared up to look at the star - a gleeful look in her eye as she gasps and nudges Lucy.

"Lucy! Lucy, wake up! Look!" Lucy wakes immediately as Gael nudges her, her eyes darting to what Gael was pointing at as she smiles.

"The Blue Star!" She shouts happily as she looks around her eyes lighting up as she sees two sleeping figures curled up together on a hill a little while away. "Everybody!"

"What? What is it?" Reepicheep asks as he wakes up, his eyes immediately darting to the blue sapphire in the sky with a smile before he starting pushing at Eustace trying to wake him.

"Everybody, wake up! It's the Blue Star!" Lucy screamed as one of Edmund's eyes darted open from the hill, looking from his sleeping wife in his arms to the sky as he nudged her awake.

"Come on love, time to wake up." He whispered softly in her ear as Genevieve squirmed in his arms, her eyes fluttering open - immediately glancing at the sapphire in the sky with a wishful smile.

"Woah!"

The Dawn Treader was a sail, their destination clear to them as they followed the blue star in the sky so that they could venture forward. Eustace flew alongside the ship, Ron and Reepicheep both holding on tight to their friend with wistful smiles on their faces - Ron letting go momentarily as he held his arms out side as they flew through the clouds.

"You continue to surprise me Sweetheart." Ron whispered in the dragon's ear as they flew further into the sky - Ron not realising how deeply he had affected Eustace with his words.

It was true that the feelings between them were mutual.

Lucy and Genevieve look out at the water at the back of the ship - their eyes widening gleefully as they spot a water spirit who was waving at them from the water as they went past. Lucy chuckles before they look closer at the spirit and see it shaking its head, the happy atmosphere dispersing as tension builds up as if it is warning them to go no further and the two frown as they share a look and go back inside.

Genevieve knew things would only falter from there.

"The wind has left us." Drinian stated, the sound of the crew moving oars below ground becoming a ruckus as the ship barely moved forward - the lack of wind affecting them desperately.

"So how do we get to Ramandu's Island now then?" Edmund asked and Drinian only shrugged as he looked across the deck before meeting the King's eye again.

"My guess is something doesn't want us to get there." He states before he turns and walks away, eyeing two members of the crew who were scowling at Eustace from the deck.

"If I get any hungrier, I'm gonna eat that dragon!" One screamed and Ron only scoffed as he stroked Eustace's scales, his eyes glaring to the crew members with anger true within them.

"Pick on someone your own size." He screams down to them, Reepicheep planting himself on Ron's shoulder as he looks to Eustace.

"Don't worry, Eustace, they'll have to deal with us first." He starts before Eustace immediately darts down, Ron and Reepicheep holding on tightly to his scales at the sudden movement. "Ah! Careful!"

"If we don't find land by tonight, they may well eat that dragon." Drinian states before everything changed.

There was yelling, the yelling of the crew as they tried to hold on to anything as the ship hit something - or someone as they rode forward. Genevieve immediately fell into Edmund who held onto her tight as the ship steadied itself - Genevieve and Edmund immediately rushing to the side of the deck with wide smiles.

"What did we hit?" Caspian asked Drinian who only shrugged.

"Eustace, that's brilliant." Edmund shouted as the whole crew ran to the edge of the edge, smiles on their faces as they cheer for the dragon who was pulling the ship forward by his tail.

"Go on sweetcheeks!" Ron shouts gleefully as he hugs the dragons back, the dragon trying his best to smile in this form as Ron does so - feeling contempt that he had done something right.

"Onward, ho!" Reepicheep shouts as he runs across Eustace's tail and back onto the ship, leaving the teenage boy and the dragon alone.

Caspian picks one of the three narnian swords they had collected whilst he, Edmund and Genevieve sat in the map room - contemplating their next steps. Frustrated, Caspian sighs before placing it back on his desk with a defeated look before eyeing the young couple with a conflicted look.

"We can't be sure the other lords even made it to Ramandu's Island." He states and Genevieve sighs as she walks over and sits on the edge of the desk as she smiles comfortingly at the King.

"We must have hope Casp." She said and Caspian only scoffed as he ran his hands down his face.

"Where has hope got us before?"

"I think you forget that without hope we are all destined for death - Aslan wouldn't just be leading us on, he would have stepped in if something happened or we were going in the wrong way." Genevieve counters as she shares a look with Edmund who nods as he looks to Caspian.

"She's right Caspian."

"Then let us pray that they are all safe at Ramandu's island and that our answers lie there." Caspian exasperates as he slumps in his chair - a momentary silence between the three.

"Where did you get it?" Genevieve speaks up, her eyes darting to Caspian who only raises an eyebrow.

"The charm bracelet?"

"Yeah." She answered as Caspian motioned for her to sit down in the chair opposite, which she did as he sighed and looked at her.

"We went to Cair Paravel after you all left - rebuilt it to what it once was in the golden age. Trumpkin is currently there as Lord Regent looking after it." Caspian started and Edmund's eyebrows raised at that, a smirk playing on his lips.

"Never saw Trumpkin as one to accept that offer." He said and Caspian only smiled.

"Well when there's an offer of good food and a castle to live in, Trumpkin isn't one to turn down the offer."

"What about the bracelet?" Genevieve brought the topic back as Edmund sat on the edge of the desk, interested in the conversation.

"Trumpkin and I were searching the grounds of the ruins when we came across your treasure chamber - door unlocked with a pin." He started and Edmund immediately nudged Genevieve, remembering the day she opened the door with it. "When we walked in we saw piles of clothes, all of yours I assume from when we saw you last but the weird thing is that there was a note on a pink dress."

"A note?" Genevieve asked in confusion as she thought back to that day - knowing there must have been some significance. "Why was there a note on my dress?"

"I don't know but it was addressed to me." Caspian stated and Edmund and Genevieve both shared a confused look as they urged the king to continue.

"What did it say?"

"It told me to give it back to its rightful owner, then all that is wrong will be put right again." He whispered, as if he were afraid to say the words. "Hence why I gave it to Edmund for you."

"But why did I need it back?" She exasperated in confusion and Caspian only shrugged.

"I don't know Genevieve, but clearly Aslan does."

Genevieve sighed as she got up and left the room, her eyes darting to the charms on her wrist as she fiddled with them in confusion.

What did it mean?
