[one: Genevieve]

King's Cross station had never been busier than it had been that Monday morning as the large masses of children flooded the platforms dressed in the light brown school uniforms as their small suitcases lugged behind them, holding the few items they could afford to carry to their newfound homes in the country. Among the many young children and their parents stood a young girl alongside her father would held a firm grip on her shoulder which sent a scorching pain down her arm but she refused to flinch. This girl was known by few as Genevieve Potter, the daughter of Captain John Potter a man who was very high up in the British army.

The girl was the visual embodiment of her late mother Elizabeth Potter, a beautiful young nurse who was loved by everyone around her. Her parents had met when they were young, her father had been harmed during the first war and her mother happened to be his personal nurse until they undoubtedly fell in love. Genevieve didn't know much in life, being only ten but what she did know was that nothing good ever lasted too long. Her mother passed when Genevieve was five, and her whole childhood took a turn for the worst and she hardly remembered what her life was before the pain.

"You are to be courteous, polite and act like a young lady for Marcus or there will be consequences." John Potter had said, a permanent scowl set on his features as he glared at his daughter, a dark tone in his voice.

Marcus Lee was the disciplined older brother of Elizabeth and although living his life away in the country, he was definitely harsher than Elizabeth had ever appeared. Marcus had been known to be the dark brother due to his strict and death defying nature and his permanent glare on his face. Genevieve was being forced to live with him in these circumstances and she knew her uncle would not be pleased, she wasn't either. Though she'd love the idea of being in the country, she knew she would be in harsher conditions than she currently was in London despite the effect of the war.

"Genevieve. You are to behave. Do you understand?" Her father sharply directed at her again, the force he held on her shoulder tightening as she let out a barely audible whine.

"Yes sir." She had whispered and her father let go of her shoulder before looking her in the eye and sighing.

"I know this is going to be hard for you and I know it'll be harder to be away from home but you need to try. I know I haven't been the greatest of fathers these last few years but I know you 'll be fine. Your mother, despite the circumstances, would be proud of you." He briefly said, a glimmer of his past self reflecting in his ears before if dissapeared and a scowl found its way back onto his face. "Now onto the train or it will leave without you."

Genevieve nodded and started to walk before she stopped, turned around and pulled her startled father into a hug. "I'm sorry pa, I'll miss you." She whispered, some tears already falling down her cheeks as she released herself from the hug.

"Goodbye Genevieve." Her father had quickly said before she turned around and got on the train.

Genevieve was then met with a field of emotions as she settled herself into a carriage and pulled her knees to her chest. She watched outside as a young boy shouted at what she assumed to be his older brother. She also caught the eyes of a young girl, maybe a couple years younger than her who was cuddling a teddy bear whilst holding her sisters hand. Genevieve sent the girl a small smile before she focused her attention on a book she had managed to hide from her father who would have found it highly inappropriate. She started reading about the laws of physics, a subject she prided herself in as she was extremely academic and she was proud of that.

The train horn went off and suddenly the train started swiftly forward and Genevieve sighed before continuing on with the book she was reading before there was a knock on the carriage and she looked up and saw the same little girl from earlier along with who she assumed was her family.

"Do you mind if we sit in here?" The older boy with blonde hair asked her. "All the other carriages are full."

"Be my guest." She whispered before she settled her eyes back on her book, silently smiling at herself as she read about Newtons laws. She didn't realize eyes were on her before she looked up and caught the eyes of a certain raven headed boy who was watching her with curiosity. She raised her eyebrow at him and he looked out the window and once again ignored her.

"How long do you think this war will last?" The youngest of the girls had asked and Genevieve wanted to roll her eyes at the question but decided not to just in case someone saw and got the wrong idea.

"It won't be too long Lu, we'll see mum and dad again soon." The older boy had replied and Genevieve half sighed at that as she closed her book and just stared out the window. She fiddled with the locket around her neck as she absentmindedly stared out the window, thinking of what her life would be like if her mother was still alive and how she would love to go back to her.

"So," She heard the older girl say after she tapped her on the shoulder and Genevieve cautiously turned around. "What's your name?"

"Genevieve," She stated after a slight hesitation. "Genevieve Potter."

"Nice to meet you Genevieve. I'm Peter," The older blonde boy said as he sent her a smile. "This is Susan, Lucy and Edmund." He said gesturing towards the two girls and the boy who was still staring out the window.

"Nice to meet you." She whispered as she stared down at her hands as the train pulled into the station. She grabbed her stuff before biding them all farewell as she exited the train.

She situated herself on a bench at the station as she waited for Marcus or his housekeeper to appear. She noticed that the four siblings she met on the train were one of the few left on the station and soon it was just herself and the small family of four left on the station. She saw the youngest, Lucy, beckon her over and she cautiously walked over and stood by them as they absentmindedly included her in their conversation.

"So Genevieve, how old are you?" Susan asked and Genevieve pulled a loose strand of her hair behind her ear before answering.

"I'm ten years old." She cautiously answered before looking from the floor to Susan who had a kind smile on her face.

"So's Edmund," Susan had said and Genevieve's eyes flicked to the raven haired boy who was glaring away from his siblings but his glare fell slightly when he caught the eyes of Genevieve but then intensified when Peter looked at him. Someone's having a bad day.

"So what's your fam-" Peter started but was cut off by the loud enraged voice of a middle aged man in his forties. Genevieve visibly flinched, knowing full well who the owner of that voice was.

"GENEVIEVE POTTER GET YOUR FILTHY ARSE OVER HERE!" Marcus' loud voiced filled the empty train station and Genevieve winced before giving a nod goodbye to the Pevensies as she walked over to her uncle who was smoking a cigar with a sneer on his face.

"Look at you, almost as disgusting as you were the last I saw you." He scowled and she looked at the floor, feeling the salty tears rush to her eyes. "You look as worthless as you did at poor Elizabeth's funeral."

"Don't talk about my mother." Genevieve whispered and then she felt the large force of a hand on her cheek before he grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the station to the carriage he had drawn.

"I believe your father didn't teach you any manners, we'll have to deal with that." Marcus smirked and Genevieve's look faltered and she looked out the windows where the Pevensie's were getting into a carriage. Suddenly she caught the  eye of a certain Raven-haired boy again and he just looked at her and she sent him a small smile. She was so sure he returned it but she didn't know as the carriage pulled forward and she prepared herself to never see them again, but she was sure she would meet them again.

But she was also sure she saw a lion on the way to her uncles house.

And that was clearly impossible.

Or so she thought.
