Chapter 3-Annabeth

I pulled into the parking lot of Hermes's office. It wasn't long after I walked in that I heard my name, along with other cuss words and something about that low life, blue collar life guard at the public pool. I opened the door and Luke turned around instantly.

"Annabeth! I knew you would come. I knew you would come to your senses. You were pretty drunk last night." I stared at him. Drunk? I swore never to drink alcohol when my stepmother got drunk and tried to pour spiders in my bed. Yeah, that was fun. NOT!

"I don't drink, dumb ass."

"Excuse me?" Hermes asked

"I called him a dumb ass. He knows I don't drink. Last night he called me a crazy bitch." He stared at me like I had just explained his life.

"I understand. Carry on."

"Luke, all that was true. Not a drop of alcohol on my breath. I have the scares to prove the things I said." Once again, Hermes intervened.

"He has yet to explain what you did to make him go bat shit crazy, Annabeth. Would care to share some of your scars to help me understand?" I knew he knew what I was talking about. I was the one who called him when Luke locked me in the basement. He convinced Luke to let me out. He didn't, however, know about the scars on my back. I lifted my shirt revealing the letters Luke had written on my back.

*AN: I LOST THE NOTEBOOK I USED FOR THIS STORY!!!!!!!! Now, I'm winging it.*

* UPDATE: I found the notebook, but I'm leaving this. It's better than what I have writen down. LOL*

"That settles it." He said.

"What? That settles what?"

"I'm not going to take his side. He is my son, but it is obvious that he is not capable of handling life outside of the cell he built around himself. I will make sure that he is put into a cell that is way more sturdy and more protected." I stared at him dumbfounded. He was going to send his own flesh and blood to jail. No regret or remorse. Wow.

We waited for the police to arrive, which, to say the least, was awkward. Very awkward. When the did show up, Luke went out without much of a fight. He just hung his head and walked out, turning only once to me.

"I will make sure you never backstab anyone else, Annabeth. You can count on that." Then he walked out. He said not a word to his father. I watched the car pull away, knowing that Luke would be out of my life for a while. A small part of me, however, knew that he won't be gone forever. He'll come back. He always does.
