Annabeth
I sat at the dinner table with Percy and my girls, smiling and laughing about a dumb joke Percy just told.
"Mommy look!" Cathryn said. I looked over to see her sticking out her tongue, which was bright blue from the mashed potatoes on her plate. She giggled when she saw Rj doing the same, with the same blue tongue. I mimicked their actions and so did Percy.
I looked over at my husband and smiled. "It's good to be back." I sighed.
"What do you mean?" He asked, confused.
"I missed you guys. Thank you for finding me."
"We haven't." He replied, bluntly. "We're still looking."
"But, I'm here. How?"
"Annababe?" I startled at the name. And the voice. It wasn't Percy's. The scene faded as I snapped back to reality. "Are you listening to me?" Luke said, anger tinging his voice.
"I- I'm sorry. I'm tired. It's hard to focus."
"I'm sure. You're daydreaming again, aren't you?"
"N-no." I lied, hoping he wouldn't pick up on the fear in my voice. That would give me away instantly.
"I'll let it go this time. Next time you won't be so lucky." He said after a pause. He smiled, something that looked unnatural on his face, causing the scar on his cheek to curl in a disturbing manner. "Eat your food so we can go watch a movie. Won't that be a treat?"
I smiled back and said, "It will. We haven't had a movie night in a few weeks. Will you get out the fuzzy blanket? So we can cuddle?" I added fake enthusiasm, hoping to mask my fear.
"Of course, darling. Anything for my Annababe."
I finished my food, listening and participating in the conversation he was having with me. I kept a smile on my face, and whenever he asked me why, I simply said it was because we get to cuddle after we finish dinner. "I miss your warmth. Can't we just go watch it now?" I asked at one point, emitting a small chuckle from him.
"We have to finish eating my dear. You're almost done. Just eat your mushrooms and we can."
I hate mushrooms. I had been avoiding them because I can't eat them without making a face and that was a punishable offence to him. I have to like everything he cooks for me and I have to eat it all. I tried my best to eat them without making a noticeable face. I sighed as I swallowed the last mushroom with a sip of wine. He hadn't noticed my discomfort. I was safe for now.
He picked up my plate and took it to the sink, my chore for tonight. I sat at the table waiting for him to come back to untie my ankle. He treated me just the same as before, but this time, I have a restraint on one piece of furniture in every room. This one was the dinning room chair. In the living room it was the sofa, and in the kitchen, it's a drawer below the sink. That's the only reason I'm allowed in the kitchen, is to do the dishes every other night.
He untied me, kissing my hand as he helped me up and out of my seat. Ever since the third night here, my hip has been in pain. He cut my side with a knife, causing damage to some nerves. No to mention the stitches hadn't healed properly. He saw me limping and I saw a flash of something in his eyes. It wasn't anger though, at least not towards me. It seemed like regret. He stopped and turned to me.
"Annababe, I'm so very sorry for doing that." He said, gesturing to my hip. "I was angry and I didn't know how to handle it."
I smiled and said, "It's okay. I forgave you for that a few weeks ago. I just never had the chance to tell you. Now that I think about it, I should've told you the moment I came to the decision."
"You don't have to do that for me. I don't deserve your forgiveness."
"Luke, I forgive you." I said.
"Thank you. Come on, let's watch Matilda." He said, beaming. He remembered my favorite movie. What does he want?
After the movie, he folded up the blanket and went to go put it in the closet. I watched him as he pulled out his keys. The third one is used for the closet. He opened the door and I tried to see behind him. I thought I saw something the last time we had movie night. It was the reason I asked for the blanket. Light reflected off something in the corner. I was right. I thought with triumph. I wasn't imagining. I sat back when he shut the door back, before he could see me watching. I pretended I was watching the end credits, looking for a name.
"Who did you see?" Luke asked, walking back in.
"Mrs. Honey. She looked like someone in the Grey's Anatomy episode you let me watch. The one with the sister? I think they're the same actress."
"I'll look it up for you later if you'd like."
"That would be nice, thank you." He smiled as he leaned down to untie me again. He helped me up and I turned to the kitchen.
"Not tonight my love. I'm tired and I don't wat to wait for you to get done."
"Are you sure? I'll have to get up early tomorrow to do them, you'll have to get up as well."
"It's okay darling. You can just do it tomorrow night."
I smiled and nodded. "Thank you." I said. In reality I was terrified. Tomorrow he might not be in such a good mood. I might get in trouble for not doing it tonight. I might even get in trouble for not telling him that I forgave him sooner. It's really hard to tell whether or not he's going to have two good days in a row and that was the scariest thing about him.
We headed to the bedroom, and I sighed in relief. This was the only room I didn't have to be chained up because it was uncomfortable for him to hold me.
My plan was in action.
Guys, that was a lot to write in an hour and a half. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did writing it.
