SHAWN MENDES
"I have learned that friendship isn't about who you've known for the longest, it's about who came and never left."
—
One year that I'm sharing my life with Serenity. It's been amazing, of course we had our ups and downs but, it's like we instantly clicked.
You know they said that God made us with four arms, four legs. But, he found it weird so he separated us and, the other part of our body was actually our soulmate.
Serenity was my soulmate.
Tonight, I decided to make my girlfriend meets my best friends. We haven't been in Toronto a lot, we would just come for see my family then drive back to New York. And luckily, she agreed to see my childhood friends.
My friends weren't that complicated. Well, they were Canadians, nice and kind. Serenity was way more shy than them but, I definitely knew she was going to take on her.
"I really want them me to like me." Mumbled Serenity grabbing my hand.
I chuckled, kissing her cheek softly. "They will like you, for sure." I whispered in her ear. "I just know they will."
"But, what if they don't?" She replied back. "How do I know if they like me?"
I rolled my eyes. "Babe, don't worry." I said as we walked into the bar.
I was used to come to this bar since I was nineteen, except that it's the first time for Serenity. It was a cozy and lovely bar in downtown Toronto, way too busy but enjoyable.
We, soon, spotted my best friends drinking and laughing. I offered her reassuring smile to Serenity as she squeezed my hand, walking behind me.
"Look who it is!" Yelled Brian. "The New York guy." He laughed as I chuckled, hugging him.
I wrapped my arm around Serenity's neck. "Hey guys, so it's Serenity."
Matt hummed, smiling. "Nice to meet you, Shawn can't stop talking about you."
Serenity laughed, looking up at me. "In good, I hope."
"Of course." I murmured leaving a soft kiss on her temple.
Five minutes later, she already kind of knew everyone. Matt, Jon, Brian and Lola were here. I met Brian back in kindergarten but, I started being friends with the others in high school and we never left each other.
"I'm going for drinks." Exclaimed Jon. "You guys want something?" He queried.
I nodded. "Raymond Massey for my girl and a Rev for me, thank you man."
Serenity leaned into me. "What is a Raymond Massey?"
I giggled. "You will love it. It's a combination of whiskey, ginger syrup, and champagne."
"Oh." She whispered. "Sounds good."
Brian smirked. "So, tell me about Serenity!" He smiled to her.
I sent him a glare. "It's not a police questioning." I told him
"I mean..." He started. "If she's it, I need to know her right?"
I was about to answer but, Serenity put her hand on my knee in attempt to calm me. "It's okay, I can answer Shawn."
I sighed. "Alright, no weird questions Bri." I warned him.
He hummed, sipping on his beer. "Why are you here?"
"Well, it's important for Shawn." She told him. "And for me, what if I'm really it? I need to know you guys. My kids will probably be friends with yours." She grinned.
"How did you meet Shawnie boy?" He pointed at me.
She smiled cheekily. "In a library. We kinda had our first date here." She chuckled. "He played me guitar and, we drank wine together. Then, he continued to show up."
The boys and Lola looked at us in awe. "That's cute." Said Matt, smiling. "There you go, birds love." Interrupted Jon, giving us our drinks.
"Big question, did you meet his family?" Asked Lola. "Cause, we all know Shawn doesn't show his girlfriends to his precious family." She added.
I cleared my throat. "Actually she did." I told them. "She met Aaliyah back in New York, before we even got together and, she met the rest four months ago."
They all let out a breath as Ren kept a smile on her face. "What about you? Did he met your family?"
"Yes, my mom."
As soon as she pronounced those words, I knew someone was going to ask about her dad. I knew it didn't make her uncomfortable talking about it, but I was.
Lola coughed. "What about your dad?"
I closed my eyes. "Lola..." I warned her.
"Um, he's dead." Murmured Serenity. "But, don't worry you didn't know guys." My Serenity was too nice.
I inhaled and, looked at her. "What about we go back home, eh?"
She agreed, nodding her head. "Let me go to the bathroom and, we can leave." She spoke, pecking my lips.
I waited for her to leave and, looked straight at Lola. "What the fuck is wrong with you, Lola?" I asked angrily.
"What!" She exclaimed. "I'm just trying to know the chick, I mean it looks serious."
Matt shook his head. "You always ask the wrong questions, man."
"She's probably uncomfortable." Pointed out Jon.
"Probably." I talked back.
Brian hummed. "I like her, to be honest."
Serenity came back still with a smile on her face like, nothing happened. She sat back next to me, putting her hand over my thigh.
"Alright guys, it was so cool to meet you." She spoke. "I hope I'll see you soon!" She added, waving at them.
Brian laughed as she waved. "Ma'am, we don't wave here. Come give me a hug!" He exclaimed. Serenity chuckled out loud while walking to the guys, her tiny arms wrapped around them as she gave them a squeeze. "Alright, now its a proper goodbye."
"See you soon, guys and Lola." I said hugging them quickly.

We walked into my apartment, a little tired but good. Ren and I took off our shoes and, almost ran to the bedroom where we both laid on the mattress.
"Was it okay?" She whispered. Her tone soft.
I hummed, watching the ceiling. "Perfect baby, they loved you. Again, I'm sorry for Lola."
She shook her head. "Don't be." She told me. "She's probably a little jealous because I got to be part of the group and, I'm a girl."
"Yeah, you're probably right."
"Well, yes." She laughed before kissing my cheek. "I love you, you know that?"
I nodded, closing my eyes. Her fingers ran through my hair. "Were you serious when you talked about our babies being friends with Brian's?"
"Of course."
"You want kids with me?" I mumbled, excitement rushing through my veins at the thought of having kids with her.
She smiled down at me. "Yeah, I do." She replied. "But, now it's not the time to talk about babies. It's time to sleep."
I whined. "Alright." I mumbled. "Goodnight, Ren."
"Goodnight, love." She whispered, kissing my lips and tangling our legs.
