five; living their best lives
SHAWN MENDES
—
My hand patted Emilia's head as I patiently waited for Serenity to walk through my door. We agreed to go out tonight and not during the day because apparently she wanted to rest. Three little knocks at my door made me stand up, rubbed my hands on my knees trying to hide the fact that I was nervous.
"Hey." I said opening the door, my breath hitched as I saw her.
She blushed. "Hi, Shawn." She answered walking in my apartment, her heels clicked on the floor.
I shook my head and turned around. She was wearing a white dress that was fitting her perfectly. Her hair were falling down her shoulders, they were lightly curled, she was wearing any makeup...she looked simply beautiful.
I cleared my throat. "You look amazing, Ren." And suddenly I felt shitty, she looked so damn good compared to me.
Her cheeks flushed a little as she rolled her eyes. "Thank you, I appreciate."
I arched an eyebrow. "So how do I look?" I spun in myself as she laughed.
"You look great." She answered truthfully. "Alright, where's Emilia?"
I grabbed her wrist and brought her closer. I could swear I heard her breath hitches. "Did you come for me or her?"
"Both." She replied wrapping her arms around me. I was pretty sure, she could feel my heart beats faster at the contact. "Let's go?"
I nodded. "Let's go." I answered.
She kissed my kitten's head one last time before jogging to me. Her side nudged mine as we walked outside. New York City at night was incredibly beautiful, lights everywhere, enormous crowd outside every of them coming from a different country.
"Where to?" I queried as she smirked.
"Somewhere perfect for that type of night." She smiled widely as I let out a chuckle.
I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and brought her closer to me as we walked in the city. "You know...I should be the one taking you somewhere."
She laughed. "Yeah, right but you don't know nothing here. If I'm going to Canada one day, I will call you." She winked making my heart go crazy.
Her heels clicked on the floor as we walked through New York City, my arm still around her and my smile still on my face. Serenity dragged me into a building bonded with people.
"What are we doing here?" I asked looking around.
She giggled letting me look around a second then stepped in front of me. "Come on, I'm going to show you something cool." She grabbed my hand and led me. "So...Since you're living in New York City, you have to come here once in your life. Welcome to the whispering gallery in grand central terminal, my friend!"
"That looks fantastic!" I remarked as she nodded. "But, whats so important here?"
"Follow me." She stared walking and right now I wished she would take my hand in hers. "So, you're going to go in that corner and you don't move alright?"
"What kind of shit is that?" I giggled as she hit my arm.
"Shut up!" She told me earning another giggle from me. "Just go in that fucking corner and wait."
I rolled my eyes. "Yes ma'am."
She hummed proudly. "Alright, see you in a few."
I made my way to that corner and positioned myself waiting for Serenity. People didn't even bother to look at me like it was something normal. Was I missing something?
"Shawn?" I turned my head hoping to see Ren but nothing. "You hear me? Talk in the corner!"
I frowned and moved my mouth closer to the corner and cleared my throat. "Serenity?" I queried as I heard her squealing. "Where are you?"
"I'm on the other side!" She answered. "That's great, uh?"
I laughed. "It is so cool. That's why it's called the whispering gallery?" I asked
She hummed. I could hear her like she was next to me. "Exactly! You never came here?"
"Never. That's pretty cool. I can hear you even with all the noise." I replied.

Both of sitting in a random restaurant, we decided to walk in cause the front looked cozy. Her hair were now in a messy ponytail but she still managed to look amazingly good.
"I hope that place is good." She spoke as I chuckled and hummed. "I never came here."
"Me neither." I replied waiting for the waiter to bring our food. "Thank you for tonight, it was really cool."
She shrugged her shoulders. "I had fun. I really like you." She told me. "I'm a very shy person but somewhat you made me step out of my zone."
I rested my head in the palm of my hand. "You came at me first." I pointed.
The waiter put down our foods as we thanked him, Serenity waited for him to leave so she could talk. "I know! Something was telling me to talk to you so that's what I did."
I hummed taking a bite of my hamburger, we soon both made a disgusted face. I peeked at Serenity who had the same face as me, we both interrupted in laughter as she spilled the food.
"Sorry but that hamburger is disgusting." She whispered bringing her face closer to mine. All I could is her lips moving close to mine. "Wanna get out of here and I could show you my cook skills?"
I locked my hands behind my head and smirked. "Sure. I will pay."
"I can't let you do that..." She started but I put my finger on her lips so she could stop talking.
"I will pay, okay?" She groaned but agreed. "You will pay when we will go that movie date."
She blushed. "Sure, sure." She said before standing up. "You coming or not?"
I shook my head and took off my ring. "Sit back down." I looked around seeing that the restaurant was kind of full, I smirked to myself and cleared my throat. "You trust me?"
She sighed. "Of course, I do." She answered. "But what are you doing with your ring?"
"It's my grandpa's and there's his ring on it." I answered before kneeling down. "Just say yes, alright?"
"Shaw-" She got cut off by gasps coming from the restaurant.
"Serenity, will you marry me?" I asked as everyone begged Ren to say yes. She looked so embarrassed, her cheeks were dark red, she was hiding her face in her hand as I held the ring.
"Say yes or I'll for you!" Someone screamed as Serenity laughed and nodded.
I stood up taking her in my arms. "We won't have to pay." I whispered in her kissing her cheek.
"A kiss! A kiss! A kiss!" A man yelled in the audience as we both shook our heads.
I put the ring around her finger and hugged her again. "Sorry but ma'am is kind of shy in public!" I yelled as everyone laughed.
Serenity's face was hiding in my chest as she chuckled, the restaurant offered her to pay since we got "engaged". As soon as we were away from the restaurant, the girl exploded and couldn't stop laughing.
"Oh my god, that was epic!" She let out a loud laugh as I chuckled along with her. "Thank you for one of the best night ever."
"Your very welcome, honey." I replied with a charming smile. "I'm kind of hungry tho."
She took my hand in hers for the million times today and started to walk fast. "Come on, I'll cook you something."
