three.

It turned out that Jungkook didn't like alarms. Yoongi discovered this when he was woken the following morning ー not by the usual ill-chosen alarm, but instead by the screaming of the boy. These screams were soon followed by a thud, muting the default alarm that had been chosen for this morning. The older male sat there, trying to wake up enough to properly comprehend the situation in front of him.

Jungkook was sitting up in the bed, his shirt discarded somewhere during the night. As he panted, his stomach would suck in and then be pushed out, revealing nearly all of his ribs. Yoongi's phone was no longer where it sat to charge... which explained the thudding noise and the fact the screeching alarm was coming from the other end of the room. This might have worried the older male, but he was still too tired to function and therefore too tired to get worried.

In the end Jungkook had to grab the phone. He crawled out of the bed, creeping over to where the phone lay face down. After a brief Schrodinger's cat moment, Jungkook picked up the phone and stared at the (thankfully) not broken screen. The alarm warning lit it up, giving him the option to turn it off. Now calm and collected, the boy was able to click the button and not inflict further damage on the phone. But after he'd stopped the noise, he simply dumped it back down on the chair and wandered back over to the bed.

The younger sat on the edge of the bed and stretched his arms up high over his head, yawning widely. His wings outstretched behind him, almost brushing the wall as they did so. Yoongi found himself getting distracted by taking in the appearance of the boy. He was definitely skinny, as the signs of his ribs once again revealed, but the older was pretty sure it wasn't an unhealthy skinny. He put it down to his mutation ― most likely needing to be small and light to lift off the ground.

"I'm going to go have a shower." Yoongi told Jungkook, who turned his attention to him. His face was blank, as though he couldn't care less what the brunette did. "I'll be out soon and then we can have breakfast."

"Okay." Jungkook responded flatly. Yoongi gathered some clothes to change into afterwards and entered the bathroom, silently praying that Jungkook wouldn't cause too much destruction while he was gone. The worry encouraged him not to take too long in the shower and for once he didn't fall asleep in it. When he re-emerged, he was glad to see the younger boy still sitting on the bed. He had the blankets wrapped around him now. His eyelids were starting to droop as though he was falling back to sleep, but he quickly widened them when Yoongi walked in.

"Ready for breakfast? I don't have much, but I can probably whip something up." Yoongi asked as he chucked his pyjamas down on his makeshift bed ― aka a pile of blankets that he'd managed to find in the back of some of the cupboards. Jungkook shrugged as he pulled the blankets from him. He followed Yoongi out into the kitchen, goosebumps travelling up his bare arms. He probably should have gotten his shirt while he was in the bedroom, he thought as he stared at the bumps. "How does toast sound? Would you like toast for breakfast?"

"I don't care."

"Toast it is then. That shouldn't be too hard." The older male left Jungkook at the couch, going into the kitchen to make some toast and a coffee. The boy just sat down on the couch, crossing his legs as he looked down at his hands. His fingernails had grown during his neglect ― Namjoon had been too distracted by his other 'creations' to care for him personally ― and this had worked to his advantage. He now had a weapon for when they tried to get him again; even if they were small, he would scratch them until they stopped. He glanced up as Yoongi returned to him, wondering if he really could be trusted like he claimed. Jungkook doubted it; the last person who'd told him that was the orange haired assistant before he injected him with something that had knocked him out.

"Here's your toast." Yoongi said as he handed a plate with two slices of toast on them. The boy picked up the top piece, inspecting it before taking a bite. It was dry as he chewed it, made worse by his already dry mouth. He scrunched up his nose in distaste and placed the toast back down. "Don't you like it?"

"No. I'm thirsty; give me some of your drink." Jungkook ordered, holding his hand out. While unsure whether this was a good idea, the boy's insistence made Yoongi hand his mug over to him. The younger male took a sip before pulling a face and spitting the liquid back in the cup. The older male watched as he realised it was definitely not a good idea ― now he had no coffee to drink. "Are you trying to poison me?!"

"No, I was going to drink it myself... Why would I poison myself?"

"Why would you drink that willingly?! It's disgusting ― you're disgusting."

"Right... I'm just going to keep getting ready for work. You enjoy your toast."

"Here's my number in case anything happens or if you need me." Yoongi explained as he handed Jungkook a piece of paper with his numbers on it. The younger male read it and nodded, looking back up at him. Yoongi reached across and grabbed his cup of coffee. He took a sip, forgetting what had happened earlier, and grimaced when he realised he'd let it go cold. He spat his own mouthful back into the cup. He then placed the coffee back on the table. "I'll be back later this evening. Try not to get up to too much trouble, and don't leave the house."

"This is going to be boring."

"I know, I'm sorry. This weekend, we'll figure out a way for you to go outside, alright?"

"I don't care." Yoongi sighed as he watched Jungkook play with the piece of paper and sink lower in the chair.

"I've got to go. Bye." Jungkook didn't respond and Yoongi took that as his goodbye. He got up, grabbing his things and left the house.

"You never came last night. I ended up having to get a refund for the tickets I bought. And I had to eat a whole box of popcorn by myself ― and you know how much I hate popcorn." Hoseok complained when Yoongi entered the building.

"You could have just thrown it out..." The older male responded, although internally he was groaning because he had completely forgotten about Hoseok and their movie date. "But I'm sorry, Namjoon's problem took longer than I expected and by the time we'd finished I was so tired I forgot."

"Is Namjoon the latest boyfriend because..." Hoseok frowned at his friend, who was just realising how his excuse sounded. "That sounds sexual. Is it sexual? Was I stood up because you were busy helping your friend with his problem?"

"No! I mean, yeah, I was helping a friend with a problem but not in that way. It's just―" Yoongi was cut off by the shrill ringing of his phone. He quickly pulled it out of his pocket and saw his home phone as the caller ID. This only encouraged him to answer it even more quickly, wondering what Jungkook could have possibly done already. "Hello?"

"I'm bored." Hoseok watched as Yoongi sighed at whatever had been said, rolling his eyes.

"I said only in emergencies."

"No, you didn't; you said if I need you. I need you ― this is boring."

"Well, I don't know, put the TV on." Yoongi sighed again, making Hoseok amused even though he didn't know what was going on on the other end of the line. "You know the stick thing I was using last night? Grab that and press the red button― no, the red one, at the top. Yep, now you use the two longer buttons to change the channel and volume. Don't have it up too loud though; the neighbour doesn't leave the house because he's working on the manuscript and he's a little sensitive. If he thinks your TV's up too loud, he'll probably complain and we don't want that."

Yoongi made sure everything else was fine before hanging up, shoving his phone back in his pocket. He then smiled at Hoseok, looking rather tired.

"Who was that?"

"Just someone staying with me for a bit. He was bored, and didn't know how to use a remote."

"Is he the boyfriend with the problem?"

"What? No, he's just... Namjoon's cousin." This excuse seemed to satisfy the older male and he nodded. "Yeah, Namjoon needs someone to look after him while he does some work. I'm that someone."

"Does that mean all our future dates are cancelled now?" Hoseok looked disappointed ― because he was. He enjoyed hanging out with his friend; it was the part of the day he looked forward to most. Sometimes he even got to work early just so he could be there when Yoongi walked in the building.

"No, we can still hang out. Jungkook knows how to look after himself... to some degree."

"Good. Now, you've got work to do ― go do it and stop distracting me from my own." Yoongi raised his hands up in mild innocence, heading towards his office as the younger walked in the opposite direction to his desk. They both began their work for the day, much like everyone else in the building.

Yoongi received one other phone call from Jungkook that day. This one came at lunch, while he and Hoseok were sitting at the burger place.

"What is it now?" The older male asked when he answered the phone, struggling to slowly a large lump of burger in time for him to respond.

"Someone's here. I think they're after me." Jungkook hissed nervously into the phone. This instantly got Yoongi's attention, and worry. "They're knocking on the door and yelling. What if it's him?"

"Okay, don't worry. It's probably not him." Yoongi could sense his friend's curiosity growing but he ignored it. Jungkook was more important than Hoseok right now ― especially given he had the capability to destroy the interior of his house if he got nervous enough. "Just lay low for a bit and they should go away."

"They're saying they can hear me and that I should stop hiding."

"Okay, well have they seen you?"

"I don't think so." There was silence for a moment, saving for the loud background noises. "I'm scared. They're after me, Stupid; you said I could trust you!"

"You can. Hang on, I'll be there in a few minutes." Yoongi started pulling his coat on and getting up out of his seat. "When I come inside, I want you to wrap a blanket around yourself to make sure you're decent, okay? Make sure it covers everything, you understand?"

"You want me to hide my wings?"

"Yes. Alright, don't move. I'll be there soon." Yoongi then hung up again and sighed, looking apologetically down at Hoseok. "I'm going to have to go back home for a bit. Someone's at the door and Jungkook's freaking out."

"Alright. I'll pay and then we can get going."

"We?"

"Yeah, I'll give you a lift. That way you can talk to Jungkook on the drive there and keep him calm or whatever." The younger male shrugged and pulled his wallet out, grabbing the necessary amount of money before heading over to the cash register. He paid, as he said he would, and then the pair left. On the way back, Yoongi got another call from Jungkook.

"He's gotten angrier. He sounds like him when he got angry."

"It's not him, Kookie, I promise. Look, I'm headed to the car now; don't worry."

"Please don't hang up. I don't want him to get me."

"He's not going to get you and I won't hang up." Yoongi then covered the bottom of the phone with his hand. "I'm going to have to take you up on that offer, Hoseok."

The younger nodded and they headed to Hoseok's car. They then drove to Yoongi's place, while the older male continued to do his best to keep the boy as calm as he could over the phone. When they pulled up in front of the house and he hung up, Yoongi sighed.

"I knew he'd do something." He muttered as he recognised his neighbour abusing his door. He got out of the car, walking over to him. As he grew closer, he could hear the faint signs of the television. "Hey, what're you doing to my door?"

"Trying to get whoever's in there to turn the television down. It's distracting." The neighbour spat back, crossing his arms over his chest. He might have looked intimidating if it wasn't for the lanky appearance that could only be achieved through countless hours sitting down in front of a computer with a minimal diet.

"I have a kid in there. He probably just turned the volume up without meaning to; there's no need to scare him." Yoongi said as he unlocked the door. The sounds of the television grew louder. "Kookie! It's Yoongi. You can come out now!"

A few moments later Jungkook crept out into the front room with a blanket wrapped around his body. Yoongi smiled at him, walking closer to the frightened boy.

"See, not him. I told you it was safe here." Yoongi said as he wrapped an arm around the younger's shoulder, making sure the wings were kept down with that action. To his surprise, Jungkook moved closer to him as he stared at the neighbour warily. "He's not going to hurt you. It's alright."

"He sounded like he would."

"No, that's just because he's got nothing better to do than have a go at others." Yoongi then addressed his neighbour. "You can go now, I'll turn the television down."

As the neighbour stormed off, Yoongi continued to try and help Jungkook relaxed. He gave Hoseok a gesture, telling him to give him a couple of minutes, before taking the younger boy into the other room.

"I'm going to have to go back to work soon."

"No."

"I have to." Jungkook shook his head again, staring down at his hands. He dropped the blanket ― still only wearing Yoongi's boxers ― and folded his arms across his chest. "Kookie, I've got to go to work so I can be paid."

"He might come back."

"He won't. I promise; please, just let me go back to work."

"You can't."

"Kookie―"

"I'll come with you then. I'll keep my wings hidden, promise." The older male sighed as he looked down at the boy's hopefully face. He didn't want to say no; the boy had some puppy-eye sort of effect on him.

"None of my clothes are big enough to hide your wings."

"It's fine, I can press them down and then it'll be big enough. Look!" Jungkook ran off and grabbed one of Yoongi's biggest coats. He then returned, throwing it around his body. There was a slight mound on his back where his wings were, but it was only subtle. The only problem was the coat was too big for the tiny boy and made him look even smaller than he actually was. "See? You can't even see them."

"But you'd have to sit there for hours with your wings pressed down. Isn't that uncomfortable?"

"I'll be fine." Yoongi shook his head, deciding not to cave to the boy. "Please~?"

"No, not until we've got some better clothes for you and I know you'll behave." This made Jungkook push him as his temper turned.

"You― You― Stupid!" Jungkook then ran off into one of the other rooms. The brunette was hesitant to leave him there like that, but Hoseok was waiting and so was work. Turning the television off, he called out a goodbye that he, unsurprisingly, got no response to and walked out. Hoseok was patiently waiting in the car for him, playing a game on his phone that he exited out of once the older male entered the car.

"Everything alright?" He asked, noticing Yoongi's tired expression.

"Yeah, just Jungkook. He's a little shaken but now he's just taking it out on me..." He shook his head, chuckling lightly. "I'm almost afraid of what I might come home to."

Yoongi's worrying was in vain, as when he got home the place seemed to still be in one piece. He found Jungkook curled up on the lounge, a half-empty packet of biscuits lying beside him. The boy was asleep, but he woke up when a floorboard creaked up Yoongi's foot. He looked up at the older male and just sighed, pulling the biscuits closer to him and closing his eyes again.

He ignored Yoongi for the rest of the evening, including dinner. Instead of eating with the brunette, he chose to eat the rest of the biscuits on the couch.

I'm tired so I'm just going to use that as my excuse if I stuff this chapter up.
