Tyke walked downstairs smelling his mother food before he could see it making his stomach growl. He opened the fridge grabbing a water then sitting at the island waiting for his mother to turn around. 

"Good morning son." Tyke stepfather, Johnny, spoke patting his back. 

"Good morning." Tyke pulled out his phone seeing Maicee haven't texted him since yesterday. 

They were beefing and he knew unless he texted first, he wouldn't be hearing from her but he was over it at this given moment. 

"Good morning baby." Tyke mother, Eva, said coming to kiss him on his forehead.

"Morning ma." 

"You have mail." She pointed to the stack of college letters.

"I already decided on where I'm going." 

"Oh, really?" Johnny looked up from his phone. "When were you going to tell us?" 

"I forgot to, I haven't seen y'all in a few days." He spoke as Eva put his breakfast in his face. "Thank you."

"So where?" 

"Franklin."

"Why there?"

"Because it's close to home, they a D1 school, and my brothers going." 

"And what about your education?" Johnny asked.

"Franklin a good school." Tyke raised his eyebrows. "They offer multiple sport majors too, so it's a win win."

"If that's what's going to make you happy baby, then we support you." Eva smiled.

"Why you saying it like that?" He scrunched his face up. "Like Franklin beneath us or something?"

"I just thought football was going to be a highschool activity. You can be so much but you want to be a statistic. Sports and entertainment isn't the only way to make money, you can be bigger."

"I'm not doing this to make money, football is the only thing in my life that bring me comfort. Whether I get into the NFL or not, football will always be in my life."

"It's not a career baby. It's something to do when you have downtime, instead of football we should've put you in something else maybe the debate club."

"I did plenty of clubs and if you came around more you would know that. I was in the debate club my freshmen year, also did basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and track. I was in the animal rights club, the honors society, I'm in the student council. I'm a athlete, not a dummy."

With that Tyke stood up not bothering to finish his food, he was annoyed and needed to get ready for school. 

Deciding he didn't care about today, he just wore a jogger sweatsuit. It was a bit windy outside anyway.

He grabbed his bag not bothering to say bye to his parents, he got in his car warming it up. Scrolling through Instagram he clicked on Maicee story, she was on there answering questions. He skipped through all the boring questions but stopped when he saw somebody ask her was she single.

"This bitch." He shook his head putting down his phone pulling out the driveway.

His school was a twenty minute drive which usually winded up being forty minutes because he always picked Maicee up but not today.

As he was driving, he saw his mother was calling. He answered even though he didn't want to.

"Wassup?"

"Act like you know your mother calling." 

"Wassup?" He repeated.

"We're going to Miami, we'll be back next Tuesday."

"Already knew that."

"Aight, well I love you baby. We can talk when you get back." 

"Yeah, you too." He hung up. 

He stopped to get breakfast then went to school, the first period bell just rung when he made inside. The hallways was still filled up with kids as he walked by speaking to whoever spoke to them. 

He went to his locker as he started eating his food real quick. 

"Why you eating like that?" Keygan said walking to him with Ezra next to him. 

"Cause I got Murray and she gon be bitching if I bring food in her class." 

"You single?" Ezra asked.

"Yeah brah, I'm over this shit. She love putting on for social media so now Imma make her eat her words."

"Understood, y'all relationship y'all relationship so when shit his social media it's different."

"Exactly, she probably asked herself that shit anyway." 

"Females definitely do that shit for attention." Keygan laughed.

"I'm finna have a party." Tyke said scratching his head. 

"Why?" 

"Because my mother made me mad so I'm finna make her madder."

"Your life just revolving around petty shit." Keygan chuckled.

"Y'all wanna dip til lunch?" Tyke asked. "Or shit the rest of the day?" 

"I'm down, fuck school today." Ezra shrugged.

"I gotta go get Flaire then." Keygan said.

"Nigga, you gotta ask her to wipe your ass too?" Tyke asked making Ezra laugh. 

"Just cause y'all beefing with y'all girls don't mean I gotta be depressed with y'all asses." Keygan chuckled texting Flaire.

"You beefing with Haven?" Tyke asked.

"We not beefing but she been acting weird, I don't know wassup but Imma ask Dev if I could take her on a date. Maybe we just haven't been us cause we haven't saw much of each other lately."

"Flaire gon meet me at the car, we all riding together?" 

"Might as well, I gotta come back to drop Haven off."

They walked out the school not bothering to look back at the security guard who was looking at them, they all walked to Tyke car. 

"I'm finna hit up Blaire." Tyke said texting him.

"Nigga couldn't wait til football season to start smoking again." Ezra laughed watching Flaire walk to the car. 

"I should make her ass drive." 

"Fuck no." Ezra and Keygan said making Tyke laugh.

"Twin they trying to play you like you can't drive." Tyke told her.

"I'll floor this bitch." She said getting in the car kissing Keygan just as his phone started ringing.

He took it out his bag seeing Sapphire was calling him on Instagram making him raise a eyebrow, he declined the call then texted her. She asked him what he doing and if he wanted to pull up making him scrunch his face up.

"Baby, take a picture with me."

"My hair ugly baby." Flaire pouted still posing. 

Keygan grabbed her neck kissing her, he made sure the picture was good then sent it to Sapphire. He typed out do you want us to pull up as Sapphire replied with laughing emojies assuming it was Flaire.

"Baby." He called out making Flaire look up from her phone as he showed her the conversation.

"Weirdo bitch." She said reading the conversation. "Block her."

Keygan went to her page blocking her without no question, he had zero interest in Sapphire so it wasn't a problem to block her. He already didn't follow her. 

"Tyke, why Eva tell me to keep a eye on you today?" Flaire asked.

"Cause she a fucking bitch. I told her I'm going to Franklin and this dummy tryna talk down on me like her or her dumb ass husband went to college. She talking bout I don't gotta be like every nigga in the hood who only make money from entertainment."

"Football been your life, why she trying to act like it hasn't?" Flaire asked confused.

"Nah, my mother tried that shit a few months ago. Talking bout look at Devon, he made it there then got hurt and didn't have a back up plan. Like brah Devon walked away not the other way." Ezra said.

"It just kill me people act like sports not a career. I bet you when I make it to the NFL, she gon try to be at every press conference expecting me to thank her and shit." Tyke said.

"Like dude father from Meet the Browns." Keygan chuckled.

"Why we here?" Flaire asked as they pulled up to Blaire hood. "Nevermind."

"Look at y'all dweebs." Blaire said making them laugh. "Skipping school and shit."

"Hey twinnn! Let me hug you." Flaire smiled getting out the car to hug him. 

"You being extra, fuck outta here." He chuckled hugging her back. 

"Aye bro, I'm finna have a party next week, you gon slide through?" Tyke asked giving him money.

"Hell yeah nigga, I ain't missing no party by you." Blaire chuckled. "I gotta go handle some business, I'll fuck with y'all. Be safe out here."

"You too my handsome twin, proud of you, love youuu." She smiled dragging out making him look at her blankly.

"You really being extra." He scrunched his face up making her laugh. "I love you too." 

"Why you being annoying?" Ezra looked at her as they pulled off. 

"He gave Brat a ring so I keep messing with him." She smiled.

"Give a bitch a ring, your relationship go down." Tyke said. "Y'all broke up when Keygan got you that ugly ass ring."

"My ring is very cute." Flaire gasped looking at him. 

"And nigga that breakup don't count if we got back together."

"Yeah, after seventy bitches and one nigga later." 

"Seventy?" Flaire asked.

"Don't let his instigating ass hype you up." Keygan looked at her. 

"He is instigating." Ezra laughed. "And she really thinking about that shit too, Tyke really a dick sucker yo."

"Yeah cause we going to talk." Flaire looked at him one last time then looked into her phone.

"This nigga man." Keygan shook his head.

Regina heard the last bell making her smile, her man was waiting outside and she couldn't wait to see him although she just spent the night there a day ago. 

"So you don't talk to us anymore?" Aliyah asked as her and Brooke walked up to her. 

"We're just in two different places in life. I'm not on the same level as you guys anymore and I think y'all can do better without me." Regina smiled. 

"Let's be honest, we should've never been friends with you. We only was your friend because you were fucking Ezra, now without him what are you?" Brooke looked at her.

"Happy." Regina smiled as she closed her locker door. "Thank you guys for understanding, happy living."

Brooke took the top off her lemonade throwing it on her making Regina gasp as they walked away, she shook her head running into the bathroom grabbing napkins. She started wiping herself just as her phone started ringing.

"You wouldn't believe what just happened to me." She chuckled. "I will tell you in the car, I'm coming now." 

"Alright baby." 

Regina hung back up starting to feel sticky, she wiped her hands off just when Maicee and Haven came into the bathroom. She looked up and smiled looking at both. 

"Hey Haven and Maicee." 

"I do not like you, like at all." Maicee scrunched her face up going to use the bathroom. 

"Hey." Haven said dryly. "You spilled something?"

"Actually, my old friends threw a drink on me." She chuckled. "I actually wanted to talk to you."

"Okay?" Haven questioned.

"I know I made your life Hell and nothing I can say can and will make up for it. If there was a way I could make up for it I would. I hated my life and I hated that your family got my dad killed so I hated you and I wish I would've just talked to someone instead of taking it out on you. You're truly an amazing and beautiful person."

Haven was slightly shocked, she never expected this. 

"You make Ezra so happy and I used to hate it but now I look at y'all and feel so happy for him. You belong to him and he obviously belong to you. I've went through some personal things that I'm not too comfortable with letting anyone else know yet but maybe we can start to at least be cordial or even build up to it. I just wanted to apologize."

For some reason her apology made her upset. 

Who is she to tell her that they belong together as if they needed her blessing? 

"Yaknow you hated me for what my family did to your father but it should've been vise versa."

"What do you mean?"

"Your father killed my mom and blamed my dad, I should've been the one to pull your hair, make you feel like shit and abuse you." Haven said stepping closer to her as Regina eyes start wateringin confusion. "My parents loved me and the only parent you thought loved you tried to give it all away just to be my stepdad. Once again, everyone in your life chooses me." 

Maicee was now out the bathroom stall looking and shocked, she knew Haven had been feeling a little way about Regina more than usual but she didn't think it was like this.

Haven obviously wasn't herself.

"I hated my life." She mocked Regina. "I hate your life too and knowing everything you went through makes me laugh. You was literal nothing to your mom, she had entertainment torturing you. You wanted to fight me so bad when you should've been fighting her and them men off you." 

"Haven." Maicee called out. 

She knew Haven was hurt about the news about her father but she was doing exactly what Regina did when she found out about her loss. They were both hurt and chose the wrong way to deal with it.

"I just hope you didn't think you were going to apologize and we were going to start speaking? Look at you crying in the bathroom like I used to. You know what they say about them tables." Haven chuckled. "Save the tears for somebody that care and that's not Ezra or me. See you later Reg, thanks for your blessing of my relationship clown."

Maicee looked at Regina a little longer feeling a bit bad for her while Haven smirked. Maicee just walked out the bathroom, something in her was feeling weird.

Where did her sweet friend go?

Regina continued letting tears go down her face, she just walked out the bathroom going to her boyfriend car. He was standing there on his phone, he glanced up doing a double take immediately coming to her.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

"I-" Was all Regina got out before she started crying into his abdomen. 

She couldn't believe her father was the one who hurt her the most. She thought he would've did anything to fight for her, she was confused and hurt. 

But more hurt by Ezra, she wished he at least gave her a heads up before he told all of her business. She understood why he told her but she would've appreciated a warning to avoid Haven.

"C'mon let's go in the house." Don said helping her into the car.

Indigo walked into Sevyn room as multiple memories of them came to her head. All the times they would sneak her up here cause she was scared to meet his parents, how much they play fought, how he would talk to her when he thought she was sleep. 

The balloons in his room from his memorial were starting to deflate, she touched them seeing the life was out of them. 

She walked to his closet as the ballon followed her making her look at it and smile. 

"Hi baby." She mumbled with her voice cracking a bit as she touched the balloon. "I miss you too baby."

She wiped her face staring at the balloon while tears streamed down her face.

She didn't understand how she still managed to make tears, it's been three weeks and she honestly was tired of being sad and crying but she didn't know how to not be. 

"Hey Indi." Desean sadly smiled at her looking at the balloon. "I see he said hey to you too, huh?" 

"He misses us." Indigo wiped her tears which was pointless. "He um- I miss him."

"I gotta feeling he miss you more than anything." Desean smiled seeing the balloon was literally following her. "He wants us to know he crossed over and he's at peace."

"I just hopes he's at a place where I'll get to see him again." 

"You will, he'll make sure of it." Desean smiled. "I just wished I would've saw how much you loved my son when he was here, I gave you so much Hell and you're here more than any of his friends and family. He may have not defended you all the time when I said slick shit in front of you but he always checked me when you were gone."

"Sevyn was so protective over me. He would get so mad if I argued with anyone." Indigo smiled. "When I told him I fought Haven he was so mad and I know he wanted to say so much but because she's my sister he just told me to apologize. And God forbid if I fought and there was even a tiny scratch on me it was going to be a different story." 

"He came to me and said pops all respect but next time you say something to my girl that make her feel a way we gon go to the gym and box it out for thirty seconds." Desean chuckled. "He actually thought he was doing something too."

"And he was!" Indigo laughed. "No offense but you didn't want any smoke with my man."

Sandra walked in the room looking at Desean and Indigo with a faint smile on her face, Sevyn would've loved this. 

"What's all this laughter going on without me?" She smiled coming in the room. 

"You see Sevyn still following her around?" Desean asked pointing to the balloon. 

"Oh, you don't see mommy here son?" She chuckled with her eyes watering. "Hi mommy baby."

"You know he'll trade me for you any day." Indigo smiled.

"Both of my boys were momma boys." She shook her head. "Are you staying?"

"I actually came to invite y'all to dinner, Genesis wanted us to have a dinner."

"Oh, that'll be lovely." She smiled. "I need to get out this house, I've been seeing the same walls everyday."

"I'll be in here when you guys are ready."

Indigo watched them walked out then kissed the balloon feeling silly but she hoped somehow he felt it. She walked into his closet putting the hoodie she had on back in the closet and taking a different one. 

These days she didn't know what her clothes were, she wore Sevyn clothes 24/7. Even his crocs and slides which were five sizes too big but she didn't care. 

"I love you baby."

Just as she said that, her phone started ringing. She looked at the group FaceTime answering, she figured Genesis was trying to round everyone up for dinner. 

"Where are y'all?" She asked.

"Tyke house, what's wrong sissy?" Flaire asked.

"I'm bout to be on my way home, waiting on Sevyn parents."

"I'm at Maicee house." Haven spoke. 

"A warehouse exploded." Genesis said with tears in her eyes. "Devon united responded and there's a bunch of John Does firefighters that need to be identified. I'm going to the hospital now."

"On my way!" Flaire hung up. 

"I'm closest, I'll be there." Haven hung up. 

"Do you need me to come get you?" Genesis asked.

"I'm fine, go." Indigo said as she hung up doing a quick prayer for all the firefighters. 

She went to Sevyn's parents room knocking on the door as she waited for them to tell her to come in. She saw they were getting dressed making her smile. 

"Um, we're going to need to reschedule. There's been a bad fire and we don't know where's Devon. I have to get to the hospital."

"Oh come on, we'll go to-"

"I can't ask you to do that." Indigo said. "I know it'll bring up some unwanted feelings."

"Baby, my only two kids died them unwanted feelings will be with me as long as I'm on this Earth." She smiled touching her shoulder. "I'm okay baby, I promise."

"Come on, I'll drive." Desean told them as they all rushed to the hospital. 

After parking they rushed into the packed ER, there were plenty of cops and other first responders. Indigo didn't even know where to start, she was going to walk to the receptionist but stopped seeing Genesis talking with another fire fighter, Dominique. 

"We all entered the building, I don't know what the fuck caused the fire to spread so quickly. Martin felt through the roof and we were all trying to go get him when the explosion hit. It sent us flying." She said with tears in her eyes. "I saw Bunky die before I passed out. I don't know where the rest of my brothers are."

"Let me take her." Sandra said grabbing Alana out Genesis hand as she wiped her tears. "Go find out some information, I'll sit right here with Alana. Don't worry."

Genesis and Indigo went further into the hospital checking every room, Indigo saw a tattooed hand making her stop. She looked at the stretcher seeing Milly, she immediately ran to him. 

"Milly!" 

"Indi." He said weakly. "Where my brother? Where Dev?"

"They don't know yet, worry about yourself right now. They're going to be good." Indigo held his hand just as he closed his eyes.

"He's losing blood!" The nurse yelled. 

"We have to get him to surgery immediately! Go go!" The doctor yelled as they rushed out the room while Indigo tried to get herself together.

"Let's see where everybody else at." 

"Jack!" Genesis yelled spotting another firefighter. 

"Aww, Genesis. I tried Genesis." Jack cried out. "Devon ran into the building and never came out, he ordered for everybody else to leave. Genesis I tried to get him, I promise you Genesis."

"Come here sissy." Flaire said as she held Genesis up who felt like she was going to faint. 

"We need a wheelchair!" Tyke yelled. "She four months pregnant and it's high risk!" 

"Genesis, I'm sorry I tried to get him but the fire happened too fast." Jack continued crying out. "He told me he had to go after Martin so I just followed him. I should've stopped him Genesis."

"It's okay, Jack." Haven grabbed his hand. "Nobody could stop Devon, it's okay. You're okay." 

"Where the fuck is Martin?!" They heard real loud making all of them look. 

"Devon!" Genesis called out standing up.

"Baby, I'm here." He immediately ran to her. "Give me a chair or a wheelchair for my wife ASAP! She pregnant!" 

The nurses ran over there handing him a wheelchair as she sat trying to stop her heart palpiations. She thought she would have to bury her husband and she couldn't handle it. 

"Listen to my voice mamas, I'm here baby. I'll never leave you, our sisters, or kids." He grabbed her face calming her down from her panic attack. "I have to go and round up my men. I'll be back in a few minutes."

"Cap, where Bunky?" Jack asked.

"He didn't make it man." Devon shook his head. "I just have to spot Milly, Martin, Dom, and Jose."

"Milly's in surgery, Dom and Jose is in the waiting room talking to family members." Indigo told him. "Martin is the only one missing." 

"Damn!" He yelled rushing to another room. 

Indigo prayed nothing happened to neither Milly or Martin.

Hours passed by and Martin was still missing but Milly was out of surgery and in recovery doing well. The fire was finally put out a hour and thirty minutes ago and now they were doing damage control. 

If they couldn't find Martin, he would be pronounced dead. 

"They found seven more firefighters!" A nurse announced. "EMTs are bringing them now, two minutes out!" 

Nurses and doctors started moving around setting up again for the worst. Devon stood up awaiting for all the ambulance, he started hearing sirens making him go by the ambulance bay. 

He watched every ambulance go by not seeing Martin making his eyes tear up. Martin would be the third one he lost, he was hurt for Indigo. He didn't even want to tell her.

"Aye Devon, there's a firefighter in the ICU asking for you." A nurse said.

"That's Milly, he gon wanna know about Martin. Just make sure nobody tell him before me."

"Indigo, you wanna come with me to see Milly?" 

"Yeah." 

They went to the elevator watching it go to the ICU floor, they washed their hands and sanitized themselves before walking into the room. 

"Oh shit! Boy we been looking for your ass!" Devon smiled rushing to Martin. 

"Where my brother?" Martin asked.

"Right down the hall from you, he had a brain bleed. They repaired it, he good."

"What about Bunky? And Gorge?" 

"Gone." 

"Damn man." He shook his head putting his head down then a thought came to his head. "Come here." 

Indigo made eye contact with him then slowly made her way to him as he reached out for her to lay down. 

"I see you shaking, I'm good. A rebar went through my shoulder, I'll be out of here tomorrow. You not losing anyone else. I promise you that."

Indigo nodded her head as tears came to her eyes, the last guy who told her he'll never leave left hours later.

"Let me go tell everybody you good." Devon said. "Good job, boy y'all did a good ass job." 

Martin just nodded his head as he looked down at Indigo. 

"Man, I'm mad Devon was talking about how he made dinner for everybody. We thought it was a little ass fire, I think somebody set us up man."

"A lot of yall do, they were talking about an investigation."

"You saw Milly yet?" 

"He's sleeping, they don't expect him to wake until tomorrow."

"Can you call my sister and tell her I'm good, she probably freaking out."

"Okay, no problem." Indigo said pulling out her phone but stopping. "I'm really glad you're still here with me. I wouldn't have been able to be any stronger."

"No more heartbreaks." He looked at her. "I'm here forever."
