Chapter One

"Please just five more minutes." I mumbled turning to the other side.

"You said that five minutes ago." My sister said pulling my cover off of me letting the cold air take over.

I sighed opening my eyes sitting on my bed for two more minutes staring out of space, I got up and yawned fixing my boob that came out the tank top. I stretched going to do my morning routine as usual.

"I need y'all to come straight home., we need to have a family meeting." My oldest sister Genesis said feeding her three month old baby, Alana.

"Why? I have cheer leading practice." My little sister Indigo whined.

"I'm sure you can miss one practice." My big sister Flaire added.

"I'm sure nobody was talking to you, Fire." She rolled her eyes.

"But I said something anyway, Purple." She retorted back as I shook my head eating my cereal.

"Where's Devin? Is he taking us to school?" I asked my Genesis.

"Um, no he got called into work. Y'all have to catch the bus or walk." Genesis said.

"Bus? Walk? What is that?" Flaire asked holding her heart.

"You act like you too good to get on the bus sis." Indigo commented.

"I am sis." She stared at her blankly.,

I put my bowl in the sink letting their voices fade behind me as I went to get my pink MCM bookbag, slipping on my black ugg slippers. I walked downstairs telling Genesis I was leaving and kissing my niece on her cheek.

"Don't forget to come straight after school, we have some things to discuss." Genesis looked at us.

"We did something?" Indigo asked.

"No, we just have to talk about some things." Genesis confirmed before picking up Alana and walking out the kitchen.

"Once of y'all probably did something, dick heads." Flaire frowned.

"Yeah because you do nothing wrong, dick eater." Indigo rolled her eyes.

"I'm leaving out." I informed them.

"So?" Flaire added.

"Why you always got to say something? Can't wait til somebody beat you up."

"And I still won't change." She shrugged. I walked out the kitchen not wanting to hear them argue any more.

We were all so close in age so we clashed heads a lot. Genesis was the eldest at 23 then it was Flaire being 18, I was next at 17 and lastly was Indigo being 16. Flaire bumped heads with us most of the time because she was so opinionated and liked to argue.

As soon as I walked out, the bus was coming down the street. I began speed walking making it behind the line of people, I put in my headphones getting on the bus staying in the front as everybody migrated to the back as if it were second nature.

After the eight minute bus ride I walked into school going to my locker then going straight to class picking a seat in the middle of the class. The bell rung but I was the only one early as always, I started taking my stuff out as people filled the class.

I accidentally dropped my pencil and just as I was bending to pick it up, somebody kicked it sending it across the room. I didn't even have to look up to know who did it, I sighed sitting back up not even bothering to get it.

"You shouldn't leave your stuff around like that or something might happen to it." Brooke smiled walking towards the back with her friends.

"This yours?" Tyke asked looking down at me while holding my pencil, I grabbed it from his hand placing it on my desk.

"Thank you." I mumbled looking straight ahead at the board.

"No problem ma."

"Ew Tyke you you know some diseases can be touch contact." I heard Regina say earning a few laughs.

"Y'all irritating as hell." Kevon spoke from the back of the class asked clearly not amused.

"Mind ya business." Brooke winked at him smiling.

"We was waiting for you by the stairs this morning, where were you?" One of my best friends Sapphire asked linking arms with me as I finished putting my stuff in my locker.

"I had to catch the bus this morning."

"You could of caught a ride with Keygen and I."

"No thank you." I smiled walking in the cafeteria. "Where's the twins?"

"Stop!" I heard yelling and laughing.

"There goes your answer." Sasa pointed to where the twins were sitting down laughing with some people.

I walked over there just as the other people over there was leaving, I sighed in relief and sat down drinking my flavored water listening to the twins talk about people as usual. I never participated in their talks but I listened.

Let me break this down, I have three friends, Sapphire, Maicee and Mackenzie. I used to be closer with Sapphire more than anybody but since she got a boyfriend we've been fading but we basically shared the same personality. We were both quiet and we minded our business, she just was more social and low-key stupid.

The twins on the other hand were always fighting but they shared different personalities. Maicee, who I was growing closer with lately, didn't like anybody, she didn't like to argue and she's mean as hell. She's always brutally honest and doesn't care if she hurts your feelings or not. She said what she said to whoever and whenever.

Mackenzie was the ho of the group and that's why she was always fighting, she would take somebody boyfriend just to prove to you she can take him then drop him. She was always loud, yelling and cursing, being around her for a long time would give you a headache.

But they were the only females I trust besides my sisters, they've been my friends for more than ten years now. I wouldn't trade them in for the world.

"We got practice today?" Mai asked.

"No I have to go straight home."

"Why?" Mac asked.

"I don't know, Genesis just mentioned she had to talk to us so we have to be home."

"Y'all going to Tyke party?" Sasa asked.

"You know I'm finna be there, I need some new ho's. My old ones catching feelings." Mac shook her head.

"I don't even wanna see him." Mai rolled her eyes. "When is it?"

"Tonight, you coming Ven?" Sasa turned her attention to me.

"No."

"You never go out with us to a party, come out this one time please." Mai smiled grabbing my arm.

"I have to ask my sister."

"If she say yes let us know so we can pick a outfit for you." Mac mumbled going down her Instagram timeline.

"What's wrong with the way I dress?" I asked slightly offended.

"It's nothing to be offended about, you can dress but you never been to a party before so I don't want you looking like.." She stopped to motion her hand in an up and down motion. "This."

"And what is this?"

"What she's trying to say is that you dress comfortable." Mai spoke.

"But we dress similar." Sasa raised a eyebrow.

"Yeah but Ven is like the definition of tomboy. She's always wearing sneakers, sweatpants, never getting her nails, hair, eyebrows, etc done." Mac said.

"This party we just want you to come out your shell and show people it's more to you." Mai finished.

"We didn't offend you, did we? If we did, we didn't mean to."

"It's okay." I looked around the cafeteria slightly offended and insecure.

"So let us know if you could come or not." Sasa said smiling as the bell rung.

"Alright." I mumbled grabbing my things from the lunch table.

Since I had a free period I was taking my time walking the halls, something I usually did. I went to the stairwell so I can get to my locker but I was met with a gang of boys from the football team.

They all stopped talking once I opened the door, I was going to turn back around but there was no point now, they've all seen me. I put my head down and ignored their stares letting my feet guide me.

I hate walking past a lot of boys, it made me uncomfortable. I could feel my anxiety kicking in.

"Wassup Ven?" I heard making me look up to see Keygen talking to me.

"Hi Key." I mumbled barely audible.

"You skipping class?"

I shook my head almost immediately " I don't have a class this period."

"So then chill out with us." Tyke spoke.

"Um.." I trailed off not knowing how to say no.

It was around 7 boys and I was the only girl, this looked bad and in this school people ran their mouth too much and I didn't want the unwanted attention.

"You know you like my little sis, I got you." Keygen smiled.

"Okay." I sat down listening to their conversation.

"Man this bout to be the wildest party I ever had, I got my connects handing out bucket loads of drugs and liquor." Tyke geeked.

"I'm surprised fine ass Tisha even letting you have a party after last year." Keygen shook his head.

"What happened last year?" I asked curious making them all snap their head in my direction.

"Where's your life? I had everybody at my shit. Fat bitches, ugly bitches, black ass hell bitches, albino bitches, cockeyed bitches, any type of bitches." Tyke exclaimed making them laugh.

"I'm not the party type." I mumbled.

"I had them types there too, goth bitches, suicide bitches, white bitches, bitches that eat cats and dogs, bitches that was on their period, even bitches who had kids." He yelled making me laugh.

"So you not boming tonight B?" One of them asked.

"I'm thinking about it, maybe."

"Don't know if I should be offended or if I should be honored." Tyke dramatically said.

"Heaven?" A boy next to me asked making me turn towards him seeing he was reading my name off my binder.

"Hay-ven" I pronounced it for him.

"That's dope and unheard of, I'm pretty sure you know my name though."

"Nigga you ain't known." Tyke yelled out making them laugh.

"Ven, what's his name?" Keygen asked.

"I don't know." I muttered confused when they started laughing.

"Don't think I introduced y'all. He Adonis, Dell, Bison, Sevyn, Trey, Nate, you know me and Tyke." Keygen pointed at each of them. "This Haven y'all."

They all said wassup and greeted me then continued talking while I just listened occasionally laughing because they were so funny.

"Maicee coming?" Tyke asked me.

"She might but I'm not 100 percent sure."

"Convince her for me, be like Tyke was all talking about you and shit." He said making me laugh because he was so serious.

I was about to say something when the door opened making me mentally roll my eyes preparing to get up and leave. I put my books in my lap and began to scoot closer to the railing.

"Shouldn't y'all be in class?" Brooke asked smiling.

"Could say the same thing about you." Nate looked at her.

"I have some boy that think he got a chance doing my work for me, don't worry about me baby boy." She smiled leaning against the wall.

"So Tyke anything crazy this year?" One of Brooke friends, Aaliyah, asked.

"Right because last year was something crazy." Her other friend, Regina, asked.

"You never told me what happened." I mumbled to Keygen instantly regretting it as all the attention went to me.

"Is that Pissy?" Brooke asked smiling.

"Pissy? Why you calling her that?" Adonis asked.

"She used to smell like pee." Brooke explained smirking.

"But she don't now so fuck outta here with that shit." Keygen said.

"So Pissy are you becoming like your sister and doing the crew?" Regina asked.

"Sister?" Nate asked.

"Flaire." Aaliyah smirked.

"What Flaire? Flaire Caldwell? Fine ass Flaire?" Trey asked smiling big.

"Yeah, that's her sister. I guess it's true what they say, it runs in the family. I just hope y'all don't end up like your mother." Brooke smiled touching the end of my hair.

"You out of line Brooke." Tyke shook his head.

"And wouldn't even be saying that shit if Flaire was right here." Keygen added.

I stood up running up the stairs letting their voices fade as I left them behind. I went into the nearest bathroom and sat on the floor burying my face into my knees letting the tears fall down.

I didn't understand why they don't like me, I mind my business and stay out the way. I don't even talk to anybody besides my sisters and my group of friends.

I hated being picked on and I hated myself for not having the courage to stand up for myself. I sighed watching my phone ring until it stopped. I sat back and just thought about everything Brooke and her friends said to me.

I kept letting her words get to me as they played over and over in my head. I always found myself crying then walking out like nothing ever happened. I was a master at it now.

"Where's Flaire?" Genesis asked.

"Somewhere sucking dick." Indigo mumbled.

"What?"

"I said I don't know but I want to ask a question, it's this party-"

"No." Genesis cut her off.

"You didn't even let me finish my sentence, I just-"

"Every week you or Flaire going to a party, y'all need to sit y'all little hot asses down."

"I'm on the cheer leading team, I have to go to every party. You was my age once, stop being lame."

"Alright you can go."

"For real? Thank-"

"Only if Ven go." She said making both of us quickly look at her.

"What? Little miss perfect at a party? That'll be the day." Flaire laughed sitting next to us.

"I hope its a day when you stop being a ho." Indigo stared at her blankly.

"Why are you always talking Aqua? Mind your business stupid ass."

"Ven is my business dumb bitch."

"Really? Can y'all chill?" Genesis jumped in before they can start as usual.

"What did you wanna talk about?" I asked.

"So I'm going back to work and I hired a nanny for La, I'm not going to be around a lot neither is Devin since you know his promotion."

"Okay." Indigo said.

"We had to come straight home for this?" Flaire added.

"You got a smart ass mouth." Genesis shook her head.

"That she use to suck dick." Indigo mumbled and I tucked my lips in to keep from laughing.

"The important part that I wanted to talk y'all was dad been hitting me up and he wants to see us."

"I don't have a dad, I simply have a sperm donor. Fuck that man." Indigo said.

"Indi I think-"

"Fuck what you think too, y'all can go see that man and try to pretend to be a happy family but me? I'll wait until he on his deathbed so I could pull the damn plug." She stood up and stormed upstairs.

"Well that was-" Flaire trailed off then busted out laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world. "Whew, she so dramatic."

"You are so immature, go out to y'all party. Get on my damn nerves." She rolled her eyes leaving out the living room.

I shook my head texting the group chat telling them I was going, they texted back almost immediately and talked about being on their way. It was only 4 something and the party started around 9 so I was going to take a nap until it was time to get ready.

"That hurts." I moved Maicee hand from my eyebrow as she attempted to arch them.

"I'm almost finish, wait." She began plucking them again then stopped and smiled.

"Now they look like eyebrows instead of those bushes." Mac smiled.

"Keygen told us what happened, are you okay?" Sasa asked studying me.

"I'm fine, I just have to stop letting people get to me."

"You want me to beat her up?" Mai asked raising a eyebrow.

"Again." Mac added laughing.

"No, that won't be necessary."

"Well, she better not say shit to you at this party or I'm going to punch her in her mouth." Mai informed.

"Are you drinking?" Mac asked.

"I'm not 21." I looked at her.

"And weed is illegal, what's your point?" Sasa added.

"We won't peer pressure you but liquor courage does exist." Mac said.

"If I like how it taste I will try it." I muttered after thinking about it.

"Okay, our ride outside and we're the perfect amount of late. Let's go." Sasa smiled.

I looked over my outfit and smiled somewhat satisfied with my new look. I had on a matching set from FashionNova which included purple biker shorts with a purple long sleeve crop top, I paired it with my multicolored Jordan 1s. Maicee glued a 22 inch body wig on my head as she crimped it then Mac did my lashes.

"You look so different, are you comfortable?" Genesis asked.

"Yes, I'm just not used to the lashes but I guess I'll get used to it."

"Well, you look beautiful either way, don't forget that." She spoke making me smile and nod.

"Thank you sissy." I smiled hugging her. "I'm going now."

"Be safe, don't drink unless it's yours, don't go no where upstairs or in quiet places by yourself and do not go off with nobody you don't know. Love you, if you need me call me."

"Love you more and I will."

We got into the car as they was making conversation with the man driving, they began smoking making me cough as I caught contact from the hot box session.

"Oh this my shit, record me." Mackenzie yelled handing me her phone to record her on snap while she rapped and smoked the blunt.

"I'll text you." Mac told the boy once we got to Tyke house.

"Which one is that?" SaSa asked making me chuckle.

"The nigga I be using for rides and food sometimes." Mac shrugged.

"He was cute though." I spoke.

"He single, you want em? Cause I damn sure don't." Mac asked.

"No sir." I shook my head making all them laugh.

I felt the base of the music as soon as we started going up the stairs as I tried to recognize the song that was playing. It was Future x Wicked, I mumbled along to the lyrics as we walked in the house.

"Ooh I think I see my fix for the night." Mac smiled going towards some dark skin boy.

"Wassup sisters? Girlfriend?" Keygen smiled kissing Sasa.

"Hey Key." Mai hugged him then he hugged me.

"You ard?" He whispered in my ear.

"Fine." I nodded for reassurance.

"Aight good, Sasa c'mere." He smiled grabbing her hand.

"And then there was two." Mai shook her head. "Let's go get something to drink."

I nodded my head as she grabbed my hand pushing past people taking us to a gorgeous kitchen. I looked around at the few people there and looked at her digging through a cooler.

"What's that?" I asked pointing to a bottle that said Taylor Port.

"You not ready for this." She laughed shaking her head going through it some more. "Alright this seems reasonable."

"MD 20/20?" I read the bottle.

"Mad dog. It ain't as strong as Taylor Port but it'll have you lit."

I took a small sip and it tasted exactly like juice making me smile because I didn't want anything strong. Maicee clapped in satisfaction as I drunk some more, I smiled nodding my head to the music.

"Wassup CeCe?" Tyke smirked walking towards her with two more boys.

"Save it Tyke." She held up her hand making him laugh.

"You know what it is CeCe." He smirked putting his arm over her shoulder.

"Wassup ma? Why I don't know you?" A boy asked looking at me.

"Because she ain't out here like these bitches." Mai answered.

"That's Ven? Oh wassup?" Tyke hugged me.

"Smack that smirk right off ya face." Mai glared at him.

"Anyways wassup? You beautiful as hell, what's your name?"

"Haven."

"That's cool I'm Kilo, how old you is?"

"17."

"Huh? I can't hear you. We gotta go upstairs so I could hear you better."

"No thank you." I mumbled remembering what Genesis warned.

"Aight fuck outta here then, booty as hell." He said making my eyes widen.

What did I do? I was just beautiful to him and now he's disrespecting me. I was confused on another level.

"Why you disrespecting her? Watch your mouth." Maicee looked at him.

"That's some bitch shit you just did." The other boy he was with shook his head walking away.

"Come on Ven." Mai shook her head pulling my hand while I drank my beverage.

We sat on the couch and she started smoking with some people while I looked around seeing various people. I soon started to feel different, laughing and smiling.

"Dance with me." Mai smiled pulling me off the couch.

Charly Black x BIKE BACK came on and a bunch of girls ran to the floor. I watched them moving they butts while laughing, only around 6 had it correctly.

"Come out ya shell and let's put them to shame." Mai told me in my ear making me nod my head.

I put my hands on my knees and starting moving to the beat, noticing Maicee next to me doing the same with her tongue out making me laugh. She was so ghetto.

By time the song went off we was laughing, I stood up pulling my shorts down noticing we were in the middle of the circle. I grabbed Maicee hand and got out of the circle going back to the kitchen to get another drink.

"That's like your fourth cup, you better chill." She laughed.

"That's my best friends, I peeped y'all out there." Sasa smiled.

"Bitch bye, go finish being under Key dirty ass. I ain't see you or Mac ugly ass throughout the whole damn party." Mai waved her off.

"Shut up, I like being under my boyfriend." She smiled.

"Yeah whatever, you see Mac?"

"Yeah, she was rolling up outside."

"Alright, I'm coming. Come on Ven."

"I'll come find y'all." I smiled drinking the MD 20/20.

"I'll just stay with you." Mai spoke.

"It's fine, I'll just sit in the kitchen then come out. I won't go no where else." I spoke.

"Alright." They walked out while I started swaying to the music.

Before Mai walked out, she stopped at some boy and nodded towards me as he nodded his head still smoking his blunt.

It was like 7 people in the kitchen, one specific boy I made eye contact. He had some pretty golden brown eyes with specs of green in them, he had a full shape up beard with a red kiss tattoo on his neck.

Ezra Simmons.

Ezra was the wide receiver and football captain for our school team. Girls always flocked to him but he personally never gave anyone the time of day or that's what he made it seem like.

He was looking good with his red and white supreme shirt, balmain jeans and grey foams. The shirt was hugging him showing off his cocky built, he wasn't exactly what you called skinny. He had a stomach but he made it work and he was still fine as ever.

I looked away from him as a gang of females started to be under him, I chuckled jumping up to sit on the counter. I looked around spotting the boy Adonis walking towards me.

"Hay...ven right?" He asked scratching his head.

"Correct." I smiled.

"Aight that's dope, you enjoying yaself?"

"Yeah, I'm a bit tipsy and hot but other than that I'm fine." I smiled pinching my thumb and pointer finger together.

"You more than a bit tipsy, you driving?" He asked grabbing my cup.

"No, we got a ride." I snatched it back. "You never told me what happened last year."

"Last year they started playing Lil Boosie x Set it Off and hella fights broke out that the floor caved in." He informed making my eyes go wide.

"As in this floor?" I pointed making him laugh.

"Yeah, Tyke must of had to do a lot to convince his mother to have another one. I would've said hell naw."

I laughed nodding my head while drinking again until I heard my song, he pulled me off the counter and we went into the living room. He put his arm over my shoulder and we swayed back and forth hyped while rapping the lyrics as some people shook their dreads.

"Who the fuck is you? I don't know nigga. Know nigga pull up on ya block, we gon blow nigga. Run nigga, run from the po nigga." We all yelled acapella while the DJ stopped the music then began playing again.

I was starting to get hot so Adonis and I went outside where a whole bunch of people was out here smoking and laughing. I spotted the girls with some boys and walked over there, Mac was about to say something then stopped once she noticed it was me.

"Can't be walking up on black people like that gurlll." She dramatically stated making me laugh.

"I'll remember that."

"You having fun? Shit I know you is, you could barely stand up without swaying." Mai laughed.

"Shut up, I feel good."

"Hey y'all." Brooke smiled coming over with Regina and Aaliyah behind.

"Wassup B, Li and Reg?" Tyke nodded.

"It's lit as fuck." Aaliyah smiled after .

"If this bitch smile get any wider, we'll be looking at the sunset up close." Mai mumbled.

"Bitch teeth look like they finding Nemo." Mac added.

"They all the way up!" Sasa joined in as the four of us cracked up.

"Heaven? Is that you? Look at you, looking like something. I almost didn't recognize you." Brooke smiled.

"You pretty worried about somebody who never was, never been and never will be worried about you." Mac glared.

"Nobody was talking to you." Aaliyah added.

"Alright but she said something. Problem?" Mai jumped in sizing her up.

"Girl please go head and while you at it, tell Tyke to stop cheating on you. I got to say his dick is addicting so I understand why you could be stupid for our nigga."

"Girl you ain't know? Tyke for the team. We could make arrangements on the days you could get him and let's co-share our nigga." Mai smiled.

"Talk ya shit." Tyke smirked drinking from his cup putting his arm around Mai.

"Why are you even entertaining this sis? All these bitches sidelines." Regina laughed.

"To who? Where you going babe?" Sasa asked looking at Key.

"No where baby." He smirked grabbing her by her waist.

"Awww." I smiled laughing.

"Shut up pissy." Brooke snapped.

"You should never be this mad." Mai laughed.

"Step ya cookies up for they crumble ma." Mac laughed.

"I gotta use that one." Mai looked at her twin.

"Anyways Tyke, we'll catch up with y'all later." Aaliyah smiled hugging him.

"Catch up with that toothpaste ma, ya teeth looking a little Sunnyside up." Mai laughed.

"Fucking scrabble eggs and shit." Sasa added.

"No like she had multiple bags of hot Cheetos before she came." Mac slapped Adonis arm laughing.

"Y'all real life childish." Tyke shook his head as they walked away.

"Oh y'all we talking bout his female dog, y'all know he don't play with her." Mai threw her hands up in surrender.

"You know that ain't my bitch, you the only one with the key to my heart." He touched her face smiling.

"Don't play your fucking self!" Mac and Mai both yelled in unison then busted out laughing.

"Really annoying." Tyke smacked his teeth.

"So how ya first party sis?" Keygan smirked.
