Levi wasn't getting any better.

Even missions were beginning to be too much for him. It got to a point where Erwin forbade him to go on anymore missions.

All that did was piss Levi off.

Levi slammed a fist down on the wall, startling Alaina, who was getting ready for the long day ahead of her.

"Levi...?" Her voice was a whispered, scared of how irritated he looked.

"That damn Erwin," he mumbled heatedly, "Who the fuck does he think he is to take me off the battlefield when titans are still out there roaming?"

"Levi," she repeated, more firmly this time, "calm down."

He turned to glare at her. Alaina flinched, averting her blue eyes to the floor.

"Calm down?" he demanded, "Would you be calm if you couldn't fight anymore?"

"But it's for your own good," she defended, looking back up at him in desperation, "If you keep on like this, Levi... I'm afraid you'll get hurt."

He sighed through his nose, his eyes hard as ever, scrutinizing her form. "I'll be fine, Alaina," he replied after a few minutes, "I always am; you know that."

She nodded, pushing a strand of her dark hair behind her ear. "I suppose so, but still..."

"I can't just stay in this hellhole of a place doing nothing," Levi said, his voice softer than before.

Alaina could only close her eyes, contemplating whether she should speak with Erwin or not.

She decided to.

...

"Captain Waterson."

Erwin's tone sounded like he was surprised, but the look on his face told her he was feeling the opposite.

"I figured you would be here soon."

Alaina scowled, crossing her arms as she made her way in front of his desk. "You make it sound like you know me enough to guess my actions."

He smirked. "But, don't I? I told the Survey Corps' most stubborn and defiant captain's husband that he needs to rest; it was only a matter of time until you showed up to argue with me."

She clicked her tongue, frustrated with the commander. "Then I guess I don't have to explain myself."

"My decision will remain the same," he deadpanned, interlocking his fingers together, "Levi, is in no condition to be fighting."

"So you're a doctor now, Commander Erwin?"

He sighed, leaning back in his chair. "Captain Waterson, it's quite obvious how much everything has been affecting him."

She let out a low growl. "That's not your decision to make."

"Do you want to watch him crumble?"

His words took her aback, as she blinked, dumbfounded. "What do you--"

"You know it will happen eventually," he said, his face hard.

Alaina bit down on her bottom lip, drawing some blood. "If Levi wants to go out and fight, and think he should make that call."

...

"Alaina."

She turned towards Levi, as she slipped on a tee shirt. "Yes?"

"Erwin stuck me in your squad."

She gave him a small smile. "Do you not want to beat the titans anymore?"

He scoffed. "It's not that. I just didn't think he would put me under your care."

Alaina sighed, sitting down on the bed. "Sorry, Levi. I tried the best I could."

He sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her form to pull her close to him. "No, it's fine. Thank you for talking to him."

"It was pain in the ass, though," she replied, "You owe me."

"Whatever," he said, placing a his lips on top of her head.

Alaina hoped she wasn't wrong.

...

Next part is the last part. The title will come full circle.
