Haiku's

MARKS

The marks on my skin

They have healed and disappeared

Yet, I still feel them

WEDDING VOWS

I.

Your vows were spoken

Vows are easily broken

A marriage takes work

II.

You hurt my mother

And you hurt the family

Now I can't trust you

A MOTHER TO MYSELF

I.

Suffocating pain

My mother forces me out

But I'm still inside

II.

A mistake she said

As I was brought into light

All alone at heart

WANDERLUST

I.

Earth sick I travel

Through the currents of the sea

Wading in water

II.

Stopping on the shore

As my ship quickly crashes

I take what I need

III.

This is my new land

As I claim it I feel safe

No one will find me

IV.

But there are others

Creatures I have never seen

And they are watching

V.

I share my journey

Yet they don't understand me

Different language

VI.

I draw a picture

Use images to convey

Teach them of my ways

VII.

Earth sick they travel

Brave the large and tossing sea

Find themselves like me

VIII.

Stopping on the shore

Laying claim to their new land

But others are there

IX.

Wanderlust is grave

If you're searching for something

You may not find it

X.

Find rest in your bed

Find comfort in your own home

Some aren't as lucky

I'M A ROBOT

I.

I'm sorry you hurt

I wish I could extinguish

All of your heartache

II.

But I'm a robot

I cannot do what I want

I hurt everyone

III.

I wish I was more

Than these ropes and bungee chords

And balls of wire

IV.

But I'm a machine

And I can't feel anything

So, please don't hate me

V.

If I had a heart

I would self-destruct because

Robots cannot love

VI.

You are beautiful

Yet I'm a chunk of metal

I'd only crush you

VII.

I don't want to dim

All of the beauty within

Your angelic soul

VIII.

Dear, please believe me

This vice is a part of me

You deserve better

AGELESS

I.

Love, red as fine wine

Pure and ageless, forever

You are worth the stars

II.

I could drink you in

Soak myself inside of you

Let you fill me up

THERE IS HOPE

There is hope, always

Even when you're stuck in doubt

Think of better days

ARTIST, INSOMNIAC

I.

When I am up at night

With my lights on in my room

I create my dreams

II.

Unable to sleep

This is how I find solace

Quiet all my thoughts

GUNS

I.

Guns are nothing but

A weapon to hurt others

Too many are bought

II.

Why do we act like

If we buy more we'll be safe

When hate births more hate

III.

Too many people

And senseless acts of violence

Exist in this world

IV.

What about our kids

Our future generation

What would they have learned?

V.

We need to teach love

We need to extend our hearts

Too many lives lost

VI.

Let love conquer all

Let love be our guiding light

Let love heal our hearts

LITTLE BIRD

I.

Little bird flying

Into the azure sunlight

Soaring through the clouds

II.

Bird, what do you see?

Do you see beauty or pain?

When you fly above

III.

How do you see earth?

Through your small and wandering eyes

Are you also sad?

IV.

When we fail ourselves

When we hurt the world where we

Live and love and breathe

V.

Little bird flying

Into the azure sunlight

Soaring through the clouds

VI.

Bird, what do you see?

Do you see beauty or pain?

When you fly above

BEN

I.

Losing you was hard

But finding me was harder

You were poisonous

II.

Ben, you controlled me

Took from me what was not yours

Made me your victim

III.

I can't sleep at night

Afraid of hands gripping throat

Wishing I was dead

EARTH-CHILD

I.

I'm a tree-hugger

I'm a vegan, earth-child

And I am aware

II.

I feed my brain with

Knowledge, Consciousness, and Truth

I am wide-awake

III.

I'm an animal

I graze, I bathe, I am alive

Nature needs our care

FOREST FIRES

I.

You don't taste the fire

In your lungs like that birch tree

Who breathes through its leaves

II.

Who grasps with its roots

That must burn; stationary

Standing in that field

III.

So why ignite it

Why cause it to burn like that

Like it is nothing

IV.

When that tree is air

It provides your oxygen

Allows you to breathe

V.

Shades you from the heat

Lets others take root in it

Gives animals homes

VI.

Must you murder it?

Stick your blade in its warm flesh

Carve your initials

VII.

You don't ask its name

Allow it to feel comfort

You burn it instead

AUTHENTIC

Open your mouth wide

Say how you feel now, say it!

Rise up, speak your truth

YOU'RE DIFFERENT, BUT THE SAME

No one is like you

But know that you are the same

You're never alone

FROST-COVERED POND

I.

The water is cold

As it sits inside the pond

Frozen until spring

II.

When the sun returns

Ice will thaw and it will flow

Glisten upon the stones

III.

Heat will draw them in

Make them come and swim again

Until winter comes

INFATUATION

I.

Lay with me again

Lay with me upon the grass

Wrapped inside the vines

II.

Sit with me again

Sit with me until the day

The day you are mine

THINGS WERE EASIER

I.

Once upon a time

I was younger, I was small

Things were easier

II.

And then I grew up

I ceased in believing in

Things that were easy

LET IT BLOOM

I.

If a flower blooms

Let it grow as it sees fit

Don't stifle its course

II.

Like the mortal heart

You must never force its beat

Allow it to be

HAIKU

I.

Ink on the paper

I wrote out this short poem

Like a song it sings

II.

Is my voice for me

A projection of my thoughts

In a quiet verse

IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES

I want you to know

You are precious beyond words

Please remember that

MY KITTEN

I.

You were my best friend

Helped to rid me of shadows

The ones that brought pain

II.

Nuzzled me at night

Played with me when I felt down

Purred in my warm ear
