Blood Stains (Prologue)

Princess Occiden looked around and saw her mother, the widower Queen and Prince Erek, who she was supposed to marry. She didn't want to marry a prince, but she knew she couldn't become queen unless she did. So, she agreed to the arranged marriage, knowing Erek wouldn't last long. "Hello, mother!" She called, slipping her butterfly knives further down the sleeves of her long, red gown.

"Occiden! Are you really still walking around like that!" the Queen chided. "Have you no shame?"

Occiden looked at herself. "What's wrong, mother?"she asked.

"I told you to change out of that gown! It is stained and dirty!" Queen Ani said.

"Could you help me find another?" Occiden asked, a plan forming in her head.

"All you have to do is ask!" The Queen brushed by her whisking into Occiden's room.

Occiden followed, sliding the knives into her hands.

"What about this dress?" the Queen asked, holding up a pale blue dress with an illusion neckline and a puffy bottom.

"It's pretty," Occiden said. "But you know what would make it prettier?"

"What's that, Princess?" Queen Ani asked idly, turning the dress over in her hands and picking up a pair of white wedges.

Occiden smiled as she turned the knives over in her hands, sharp edge facing up. "If it was covered in red bloodstains. After all, red is such a pretty color."

"Wha-" the Queen was cut off as Occiden threw a knife across the room, slicing through the air. The knife pierced Ani's throat perfectly, spraying blood everywhere and leaving the Queen gasping for breath.

"Oh, mother. Shouldn't you have known not to have a daughter? After all, it was foretold that the widow Queen would have a murdering daughter. And how fitting is it that her first death would be that of her own mothers. Your blood is so pretty though. A beautiful crimson that sparkles with scarlet. I'm getting off track, aren't I?" Occiden said, shaking her head. "Well, goodbye, mother, the widow Queen Ani. I hope you will watch my life of murder." Occiden walked over to her mother and used the sharp edge of the knife to slice her mother's eyes out.

"Occiden, you will be the murder queen..." Ani said with her last breaths. "But it is foretold that the murder queen's child will overthrow her and become the queen of justice. So look out, Occiden." The Queen's breathing stopped as she died with a smile on her face. Occiden wiped her knives on the red dress she wore.

"Good thing I'm never having children, mother. The reign of the murder queen will last forever!"
