Episode 32~ A little bit of Lie doesn't hurt

Hi, guys. Look who is here... Long time

Next morning, Randhir woke up with a hammering head ache. He groaned holding his forehead as he propped up on the elbow. Then, he felt a weight sit at his feet and sudden piercing harsh sunlight flash before his face. He winced squeezing his eyes shut.

'Randhir-Beta.' Called Renuka in a soft voice. Randhir blinked his eyes and his mother's concerned face came into focus.

Renuka extended her hand and placed it on his shoulder, she moved her head slightly to her right and spoke, - 'How are you feeling, beta?' - She forwarded a glass of lemon juice to her son, - 'Here have this, beta. You will feel better.' She spoke softly. Randhir nodded and took the glass from her. Renuka watched him carefully as she fidgeted with her nails. Her mind contemplating if she should tell him about last night. After drinking, Randhir felt slightly better. He looked at his mother and frowned.

'What-happened?' He asked, his voice sounded hoarse. Renuka shifted in place, her eyes unmoved. She forced a smile but Randhir kept looking at her.

'You remember about last night?' She asked with uncertainty. Randhir looked away and focused his gaze on the open window as he tried to recollect about last night. Everything was clear in his memory till the part when he had started to drink and passed out. Judging by his looks, Renuka knew he couldn't recollect. She cleared her throat to get his attention and when he looked at her she narrated to him everything that happened last night.

Randhir was stunned by Kishore's stubbornness for getting Sanyukta divorced.

'Randhir, beta. I know what you might be thinking. But you shouldn't blame him. Unfortunately, you haven't given him any reason to think otherwise. He is a father after all and has only best intention in mind for his daughter,' - Renuka paused as Randhir looked away from her and back at the window, - 'Beta, I suggest you do something. Try talking to Sanyukta, sort things with her. If she accepts you back, then her father will too.' She advised him. Randhir looked back at her before shifting and moving the blanket away. Renuka watched as he climbed down the bed and walked towards the wardrobe. Renuka looked away and sighed.

Randhir kept pondering over Renuka's words as he picked the clothes from the cupboard. The word Divorce was not getting down well with him. What if Mr. Agarwal convinces or blackmails Sanyukta to divorce him? Then, Randhir convinced himself that this will never happen as Sanyukta will never divorce him. If she were to divorce him, she would have done that a long time ago.

At the office, Sanyukta was having a hard time focusing on her work. She kept fidgeting through files both hard and soft copy, but nothing was getting into her head. All she could think of was Randhir's confessions. Last night, in his drunk state he had confessed of still loving her. She knew drunk people don't lie. Sanyukta was surprised thinking she was surprised by his confession. Didn't she know it already that he loves her, always? Yet getting a confirmation from him made her feel better; made her feel much more secure.

Sanyukta sighed closing the file and leaned back against her chair. But what next? What should she do? Does she have it in her to give him yet another chance; give their love another chance? Does she have it in her to face yet another heartbreak? Can he be trusted again?

Sanyukta closed her eyes pinching the top of her nose.

'Sanyukta.'

She was startled by a sudden loud voice and quickly looked up. Ankit stormed into the cabin. She placed her palms on the handle of the chair and raised little from her seat. Ankit stood in front of the table, - 'Where is Gupta and Son's file?' He asked raising his eyebrow. Sanyukta nodded her head in a daze and began looking for the file among the stacks of files. After looking for a while she realized she had left it back at home.

'Bhai, I guess-I left it-'

Ankit rolled his eyes and looked back at her with authority, - 'Sanyukta, you have become very careless. Stop thinking about useless people and focus on your work.' He said annoyingly. Sanyukta frowned at him but doesn't bother to reply. She didn't think it would be wise to waste her time arguing with him. She simply picked up her handbag and walked past her brother. Ankit frowned as he watched her walk out of the cabin.

Randhir was reluctant as he entered the Agarwal mansion. He looked around as he walked inside the deserted looking hall. Suddenly, he heard a voice from upstairs and he looked up. Vidhushi stood at top of the stairways and kept eyeing him.

'I came to meet Parth.' Randhir said. Vidhushi climbed down and walked towards him.

'He is in his room.' She said and then pointed with her head towards the room under the stairway. He looked at her and nodded. He had taken a step when Vidhushi spoke,

- 'Sanyukta isn't at home.' Her voice was sharp. Randhir doesn't turn around nor replied but simply walked away. Vidhushi sighed shaking her head and turned around, walking towards the stairs.

The door to Parth's room was open and so Randhir stopped at the door and peeped inside. Parth was sitting in his wheelchair and with him was a man kneeling in front of him. He was holding his leg and helping him move it. Randhir realized he must be a physiotherapist. He felt happy knowing Sanyukta was taking so much care of their friend. Also, he felt guilty of not doing anything himself. Sanyukta proved to be better friend and lover than him. Randhir felt ashamed.

Parth felt someone at the door and looked up, he smiled upon seeing Randhir. Randhir forced a smile.

'Come in, Randhir.' He said, politely. Randhir nodded and entered the room. Parth had a small smile plastered on his face. Randhir sat on the bed beside him. They exchanged a small smile again.

A minute later, Parth broke the silence, - 'So, how are you feeling now?' He asked. Randhir felt embarrassed and so just gave a small nod. Parth nodded as well.

Randhir lowered his gaze and clasped his palms together.

'Thanks.' He replied fidgeting with his thumbs. Parth looked at him and smiled. He placed his hand over his. Randhir looked up.

'You should be thanking Sanyukta, not me.' - Parth replied, Randhir looked away, - 'And I guess you are embarrassed about last night.' He guessed. Randhir shook his head and tried acting cool by refusing but he couldn't hide it from Parth. He kept refusing but Parth's knowing smile made him confess the truth.

'I want Sanyukta back in my life, Parth.' He sounded slightly desperate.

'So, what is stopping you?' asked Parth causally. Randhir leaned little closer and narrated everything that his mother told him.

'You think Sanyukta will divorce you?' Parth asked. Randhir shook his head and added,

'But she might-under pressure of her father.'

Parth thought for a while. He knew that no matter who pressurizes Sanyukta, she will never divorce Randhir. Unless Randhir divorces her first. That too will never happen. But Parth wanted Randhir to stop taking Sanyukta and her love for granted and so, he decided to take matters in his own hands.

'Hmm, that is possible. Kishore Uncle is very, very adamant. I heard he has found a man for Sanyukta.' Parth said. Randhir was stunned by the information and Parth inwardly smiled.

'No,' - Randhir shook his head, - 'Sanyukta will never agree.' He tried sounding confident, but his voice wavered.

Parth shifted and pretended to look and sound grim, - 'I heard them talking this morning. Sanyukta said she will think about it. In fact, that man,' - Parth pretended to think hard, - 'He is arriving today, and Kishore Uncle is sending her to receive him at the airport.' He informed. Randhir fisted his fingers tightly. Parth grinned to himself. He recollected Kishore Uncle and Sanyukta talking at the dining table. He was talking about Sanyukta receiving a friend of his from the airport. Taking that information, Parth added some mirch masala and said to Randhir.

Randhir angrily got up from the bed, - 'I will see how this divorce happens. I will get back my Sanyukta back.' He said confidently. Parth leaned against his chair and placed his arms on the armrest of the chair.

'All the best, buddy.' He said and smirked watching Randhir angrily walk out of the room.
