Chapter 1
Kaneki's POV
I was starving, the sweet aroma of Hide's blood filled my nose and the air around us and I licked my lips hungrily as my body turned into a wild animal with out my consent.
"Stop it!" Touka's harsh voice sounded and I felt my lip split when she kicked me away from my best friend. I was beginning my transformation, still getting used to the way ghouls act and work, especially when they were hungry. I saw bits of white before my vision completely disappeared, leaving me falling into a pit of darkness and emptiness.
I gasped and snapped open my eyes as I sat up quickly and caught My reflection in a mirror. My black hair was frizzy as my one ghoul eye was activated and I had dried blood on my face and clothes and I gagged at the memory of probably killing Nishiki. I ripped off the jacket and shirt in a hurry and almost puked at the stench. How could ghouls eat humans... The dried blood smelled like mold.
"Get in the shower," Touka growled to me and I looked at her as she literally threw a towel and hit me in the face. I scrambled up and grabbed a fresh set of clothes as I ran out and slammed the bathroom door behind me, locking it easily and listening to the gentle click sound of it shutting in place with no way of getting in without a key to open in. I started the hot water as I stripped off the remaining of my clothes and sighed. They had a shower, a bathroom, and extra rooms for basically ghouls in need such as Hinami and her mother. Hinami was a nice girl and I've taught her how to read bigger words. I shimmied out of my boxers and kicked them towards the laundry basket and practically leaped into the shower to begin scrubbing off the blood. I sighed happily as I watched the remaining red from blood and brown from mud mix together and slip down the drain. I still didn't feel clean so I scrubbed my body and hair again and watched the soap bubbles now disappear as I turned off the water and carefully walked out. Steam clouded the mirror and I wipe it gently with my hand and looked at my reflection. The first thing I got on was my eye patch. I towel dried my wet hair and brushed it lazily as I slid on boxers, jeans, shoes, a short, and my jacket before walking out feeling more refreshed and relaxed. I huffed as my stomach growled and I walked downstairs and got a cup of coffee from Yoshimura as Kaya mopped the floor and Enji cleaned tables.
"You ok now?" Yoshimura smiled at me and I nodded at the old man.
"Don't flip out at your friend again," Kaya murmured.
"Hide," I whispered and remembered the drastic events of trying to ear him.
"Where is he?!" I gasped and stood up.
"Upstairs, don't worry he's fine," Enji smiled at me and I ran up, leaving my half cup of coffee on the table. I opened the door and smiled as Hide was sitting up and looked at a book. He looked up at me and his orange locks bounced slightly and I felt lost in a trance whenever I saw him. I've loved him for so long but I didn't know if he felt the same.
"You're ok," I walked towards him and sat on the bed.
"Of course!" He laughed and set the book down.
"Hey Kaneki... I think we need to talk," his jokingly kiddish face got serious and I gulped.
"What is it Hide?" I whispered, lost for words.
