"So you finally decided to put that boy in the nuthouse. It was inevitable, really."
"What do you want, mother?" Jungkook asks through clenched teeth as he looks up from his work. "When are you going to go back to Busan and stop bothering me?"
"Am I bothering you son?" Ms. Jeon asks sitting down at the chair placed in front of Jungkook's desk.
"Very much so." He says before trying to focus on what he was doing again.
"How's Haeun? She's had her one month check up hasn't she?" His mother asks.
"No, and why do you care? Are you trying to get Haeun on your side now or something? Because that's not going to happen. She has a soul unlike you." Jungkook spits.
"You must think you know her." Ms. Jeon laughs. "One one-night-stand and you think you know a woman."
"I knew Haeun before, and she's not cold blooded like you." Jungkook says. "Now get out."
"I have people in the White Wings Institution that could give Taehyung a very hard time, Jungkook. So I wouldn't be so rude if I were you." She says standing up.
Jungkook stops doing his work and looks up at her. "What do you want? What do you want me to do to get you to leave me and Taehyung alone? It's actually kind of pathetic that you have nothing better to do than try to ruin our lives."
Ms. Jeon laughs. "And you still think any of this has to do with you or that boy? How many times do I have to tell you? It's about sacrifice, Jungkook. And you have yet to learn what it is to sacrifice something. So until you do, I'll never leave you alone."
"What is it that I'm supposed to sacrifice?" Jungkook asks standing up. "My happiness? The love of my life? What? I already lost the only two people I thought ever had my back in this world, you want me to lose my fiancé too?"
"You didn't lose me, Jungkook. You're just facing reality while you still want to be a child." Ms. Jeon says.
"I'm not a child anymore. But is it wrong to be hurt that my parents don't even love me? That you and my father only had me for this bullshit?" Jungkook asks waving his hand around. "I don't think it is, and I think if anything you're the one that needs to check into the fucking nuthouse! Because all you do is hurt innocent people that have done nothing to you!"
Ms. Jeon scoffs, being just as heartless and cold as she's ever been. "Grow up Jungkook. Stop living like life is a fairytale. What? You wanted to run away with your little whore boyfriend and get married and live happily ever after just the two of you, right? Well welcome to reality, son. There are no happy endings. I brought you into this world for a reason and I'll be goddamned if you didn't fulfill that purpose."
Jungkook is so angry he laughs a little hysterically. "You're insane."
"I knew you were going to be a disappointment from the beginning. We should have never had you." Ms. Jeon spits. "You ruin everything you touch, Jeon Jungkook. Even that boy."
"Shut the fuck up!" Jungkook snaps slamming his hands on his desk. "I don't fucking care! Alright! I knew you didn't like me~ I knew you didn't love me and I knew I was just another piece of the fucking puzzle, but I tried so hard! I tried so hard to be everything you wanted me to be! I lived for you for 18 fucking years! And now here I am! Living for you again! Why can't I just live for me? Was 18 years not enough of a sacrifice for you!"
"No! It wasn't! You were useless then and you didn't matter until you turned 18. But then you ran off with that little faggot and ruined the whole thing!" His mother yells. "You missed your chance to be valuable to your family when you left!"
Jungkook falls silent as he stares ahead at his mother. "Mom~"
"Don't Mom me, I'm not your mother. I never wanted to be your mother. For nine months you were a burden to me and for 18 long years after you were too. And now, look at you." She says, practically fuming. "You're like an experiment gone all wrong."
"What are you talking about?" Jungkook asks, his walls getting knocked down one by one.
"We raised you to be selfish, and to be emotionless and cold. And for a while, thought we had succeeded. But when we got to Daegu everything changed." Ms. Jeon starts. "You started smiling and laughing and being more open to people. I should have snatched you out of that school the first day you came home and told me you made new friends. And that they made you happy. Like being happy was a priority. When it should have never been apart of your life to begin with."
"Y-You never wanted me to get better?" Jungkook asks, memories from the past coming back to him.
"I didn't care if you were depressed, Jungkook. I couldn't have cared less. As long as you knew what job you had to do and you got it done." She says. "Happiness isn't a priority in the business world."
Jungkook is in utter disbelief and shock as he stares at her.
"I almost died..." he says, trailing off. "I almost tried to...and you didn't even. Everything you said was a lie?"
"If you would've actually done it maybe everyone would have been better off." Ms. Jeon says insensitively.
"You really never cared about me?" Jungkook asks even though he truly didn't want to hear the answer.
"Stop thinking about yourself. It's nothing personal, Jungkook. Business is business. Especially this business. You have to to do what must be done in order to continue to thrive and conquer." She says.
Jungkook thinks back to all the times he's cried and let this woman comfort him thinking that she loved him and only wanted the best for him.
He thinks about his life before they came to Daegu and all he remembers is how unhappy he was. He was at his lowest point in life and he was only 17.
He remembers when he told his parents he was afraid he was going to kill himself and they actually pretended to care.
He stayed alive for them, because he couldn't leave his family. Because they loved him and needed him to stay alive.
Now he knows why they needed him to stay alive.
"I'm leaving." He says weakly before grabbing his phone and rounding his desk.
He felt all those feelings from his past resurfacing and all the things his parents said made since now.
He stops at the door and turns to his "mother", tears forming in his eyes.
"I hate you. I truly do."
He leaves the office and takes the elevator down, ignoring the looks he gets from the people in the lobby when they see the CEO of the place on the verge of tears.
But he can't bring himself to care.
He needed someone to talk to.
He wanted to talk to Jin, but then he remembers that Seokjin is one of the many people that hate him.
So is Namjoon.
And so is Hobi.
He didn't want to burden Yoongi and Jimin anymore with his problems, so he just went home.
After buying enough alcohol to last him a week he went home to wallow in his useless self pity.
His parent never loved him and probably never even saw him as a son.
His closet friends, the ones that made him really smile for the first time, hated him for hurting Taehyung.
Which he never seemed to stop doing. He's always hurting him and putting him in situations he doesn't deserve to be in.
Maybe if Jungkook would've just ended it all when he was 16 everyone's life would be better.
He would never had met Taehyung, never ruined the business, and most importantly, he would've only been a disappointment for 16 years instead of 22.
Even though he tried to hold it together,
It wasn't easy finding out that no one ever loved him growing up.
