Jungkook pulls away from the hug enough to look at Taehyung but still hold him closely.
"What?" He asks, he herd him clearly he was just caught off guard.
"Why do you love me?" Taehyung asks again, his gaze downward.
"Why are you asking me that all of a sudden?" Jungkook asks.
Taehyung shrugs. "Why aren't you answering?"
"I just wanted to know why you were asking. That's all." Jungkook says.
Taehyung nods. "I just don't know why you love me."
"There's so many reasons Tae, I love everything about you." Jungkook says smiling down at him.
"Everything?" Taehyung asks looking up at Jungkook.
"Every single thing." Jungkook says pressing their foreheads together. "I love the way you laugh, the way you cry, I love your voice, your touch, I even love the way you lie."
Taehyung cracks the smallest smile, letting his eyes fall shut.
"I do hate one thing though. I've hated since I met you." Jungkook says making Taehyung's smile drop.
He looks up with a small pout and Jungkook laughs a little.
"I hate that you can't see how perfect you are." Jungkook says making Taehyung blush and look down.
"I'm not~"
"The same reasons Byeol thought he was unlovable are the same reasons I love you, Tae. And I know you think I'm out of my mind, and I am. I'm so out of my mind in love with you, Kim Taehyung."
Taehyung hides his face in the crook of Jungkook's neck as he begins to tear up.
"I love you so much, Taehyung. I won't ever let anything happen to you. I won't let anyone take you away from me again." Jungkook says. "I promise."
"I love you too, Jungkook." Taehyung says back, hugging Jungkook around his neck.
Jungkook chuckles. "Come on, baby. It's been a really long day, we should get to bed."
"Jungkook." Taehyung says as he pulls away a little, Jungkook hums in response. "You know the people your mom hired, all that time ago?"
Jungkook nods, guilt taking over his features. "Yeah, I remember. Why?"
"I saw them today, well, I saw one of them today." Taehyung says fiddling with the hair at the nape of Jungkook's neck.
Jungkook's face drops. "What?"
"I saw one. I spoke to him." Taehyung says focusing his gaze on Jungkook's lips rather than his eyes.
"And?" He asks, his voice hardened with anger. "What'd he say?"
"He said he was hired by someone to protect us." Taehyung says looking up to see Jungkooks reaction. "And th-that they were just keeping an eye on us by working with your mom, making sure nothing happened to us."
"What are you talking about, Tae?" Jungkook asks with a deep frown.
"They're on our side~"
"You don't actually believe that bullshit do you?" He asks pulling away from the hug completely.
Taehyung crosses his arms and looks down at the ground. "I do."
"So you're telling me they kidnapped you to protect you? They gave you those scars to protect you?" Jungkook asks. "I don't want to hear that, Tae."
"But~"
"No, Taehyung. What the hell else did they say?" Jungkook asks walking away from him.
"I believe them. Jaewook said~"
"Who?" Jungkook asks walking upstairs, Taehyung following.
"The guy, he said he wouldn't have went through with it if he thought I wouldn't make it."
"Are you listening to yourself, Taehyung? Why would a stranger want to protect us? Who are we to them?" Jungkook asks turning to face the other.
"They're working for someone else who wants to keep us safe for some reason. They didn't tell me who but~"
"Don't believe such ridiculous things. I don't want you trusting him or anyone else. You trust me, I'll protect you. Don't rely on them for anything. Do you hear me?" Jungkook says sternly.
Taehyung looks down at the ground. "But~"
"No but's." Jungkook says. "You need to stop believing everything you hear, and stop believing that everyone is who they say they are. There isn't good in everything, not in this world."
"I'm not stupid, Jungkook. And there's good in everyone, my mother taught me that and I'm going to stand by it as long as I live." Taehyung says crossing his arms.
"Your mother's a fool." Jungkook mumbles continuing up the stairs.
Taehyung stops where he is. "My mother's a fool? And your mother's a fucking lunatic."
"At least she didn't teach me to be so naive." Jungkook says walking into the bedroom.
Taehyung follows. "How is it naive to think there's good in everyone?"
"Because it's not true! You of all people should know that!" Jungkook says, he wasn't angry at Taehyung he was just angry at the fact that he trusted so easily.
"And what's that supposed to mean?" Taehyung asks, his voice calm despite the anger in his eyes.
"Was there any good in your family at all? Your mother left and your father~"
"Of course there was good in them!" Taehyung shouts. "They made mistakes just like everyone makes mistakes! That's why there's forgiveness!"
"How could you forgive the woman who left you to die?" Jungkook asks making Taehyung fall silent.
"Sometimes, you just have to let go of the past." He says, tears welling in his eyes. "Sometimes you can't hold the past against someone. Holding grudges doesn't hurt anyone but yourself in the long run."
"And sometimes, Taehyung, you just have to hold people accountable for their mistakes. If you forgive everyone so easily what's the point in forgiving at all?"
Taehyung doesn't respond, he doesn't trust his voice to come out even.
"How could you forgive that man for almost taking you away from me? From our friends?" Jungkook asks. "You can't get through life believing everything you hear. You can't get through life thinking everyone has good in them deep inside. It's unrealistic and you'll just keep getting hurt. You can't get through life forgiving so easily."
"I never want to see the world like you see it." Taehyung says swallowing his tears. "So black and white, everything's either good or bad, wrong or right. How could you live like that?"
Jungkook sighs sinking down onto the bed.
"People may have hurt me and I may have forgiven them, but it wasn't easy. You think it was easy to forgive my mother for leaving me? Or to forgive my father? Bogum, Suho, and everyone else who's fucked me over in my life?" He continues. "Because it fucking wasn't. If I hadn't forgiven them I'd still be holding the same
grudges from when I was sixteen years old. I don't want to live like that, I won't."
Jungkook stares forward as if he's ignoring his words but he hears every one.
"I don't care how hard the world is on me, that's the way my mother taught me to see the world. I don't care if she sounds like a naive fool." Taehyung says. "I just wish you could see the world like I do just for a day."
Taehyung turns around to walk out of the door.
"I just want to protect you, Tae." Jungkook says, his voice so low he's practically talking to himself.
Taehyung ignores him and walks out of the room, going downstairs and laying down on the couch.
It's been the longest day of his life and hated to end it fighting with Jungkook, again.
Maybe Jungkook wanted the same as he did, for him to see the world for what it is for once, black and white and nothing in between.
Good or bad and nothing that's a little bit of both.
The world was a cruel place and maybe Jungkook just wanted to protect him from that.
