Ch.3- New Friends/Old Friends
"Cy, what do you mean?" Buffy looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "You've been deathly afraid of going high on the swings, why now?"
"Nothing, just ignore it." Then a pastel-pink haired waitress walked up to our booth.
"Hi, I'm Carrie Jean, call me CJ. What would you guys like?" She looked like a senior. I recognize her voice, but she's not a rude voice. She's one of the drama students. I remember seeing the school musical, Curtains, and they had all of the cast come on stage and talk to the audience.
"Two orders of baby taters and three waters." Buffy spoke quickly with her lips in a straight line.
"Mine with lemon please." Andi said before CJ walked away with a tiny smile on her face. But that smile quickly turned into a frown when she saw Buffy's face. "What's wrong, Buffy?"
"That girl's name is too similar to TJ." Andi and I looked at each other before bursting in laughter. "What?"
"You're being really dramatic." Buffy through a sugar packet at me and rolled her eyes. "Anyways, anything new with you guys?"
"If there was anything new, we would've said it already." Buffy chuckled and bumped Andi with her shoulder. "But yeah, I started talking to Marty again."
"MARTY FROM THE PARTY!" Andi and I shouted. Buffy nods with a slight pink tint on her face. Wait... what.
"Buffy, are you, blushing~?" Andi started to inspect her face after I said that. Then Andi started teasing her about it too.
"I missed him guys." She has a sad glint in her eyes and she looked out the window. "He, u-uh, he has a girlfriend." She mumbled under her breath with a small sorrowful sigh.
"You like him, don't you?"
"Is it that obvious?" She muttered jokingly. She knows how obvious she's being, but Buffy needs to be dramatic. If Buffy wasn't being dramatic, then there must be something wrong. "I really want to see him again. I made the wrong choice in rejecting him."
"This just in: Buffy Driscoll admitted she was wrong." Not that voice. I don't want Buffy to get started again.
"TJ Kippen, always a pleasure." Then a familiar blonde walked right next to him.
"Amber?!" Andi jumped out of her seat.
"Andi?!" The two girls literally jumped into a hug. Wait, that's Amber. Jonah's ex. I forgot Andi and Amber had a good friendship until they lost touch. "Give me your number right now?" Andi already had her phone out, and Amber almost dropped hers with excitement. Once they were done, they hugged once more until TJ ushered her to get a table.
"Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffin." I didn't even realize my head was down when I heard that.
"Not So Scary Basketball Guy." I shifted my eyes over to him. He was wearing a basketball hoodie and shorts. He probably just got back from practice, but with Amber?
"So, how do you know Amber?" Andi asked, with a huge grin on her face.
"Well uh," he scratched the back of his neck, "she's my sister." Buffy groaned and rolled her eyes.
"Get out of here TJ, I just got food and I don't want to be sick."
"Oh Buffy, how you touch my heart." Being the sweetheart Buffy is, she flipped him off and then he stormed away towards his table which had Amber, and two other boys I couldn't recognize.
Once TJ left, CJ was standing there with a tray of baby taters and drinks. She placed the tray on the table. "Also, this meal was payed for by a certain blonde at that table." She pointed at Amber's table, but she wasn't pointing at Amber. She was pointing at TJ. But Buffy and Andi didn't notice that.
"Well, here's money for their meal." Andi gave CJ thirty dollars. "And here's an extra five dollars for a tip." CJ gave Andi a soft smile and walked away. Meanwhile, Buffy and I were staring at her while Andi was looking down at her water. She was also blushing, a lot.
"Andi has a crush." Buffy pokes her shoulder which makes Andi pout and cross her arms. But after two seconds, Andi drops her arms and fixes her flower crown.
"Guys, it's not CJ." Her eyes drift over to Amber's table.
"You..." Buffy pointed at Andi, "have a crush on TJ Kippen's sister. Does everyone here like the Kippen's except for me?"
"Buffy, Amber is sweet." But Buffy didn't answer. "Hello, earth to Buffy." Andi waved her hand in front of Buffy.
"Cy, why is TJ staring at you?" I sat straight up with my cheeks flushed. I slowly look behind me, and what do you know, TJ was staring right at me. And I looked right into his green eyes.
Unknown: i paid for your meal btw cccm:)
I let out a small giggle.
Cyrus: thank you, tj
TJ: no problemo
"Get off your phone, Cy." Buffy shouted while throwing a baby tater at me. That girl has problems with throwing stuff at people. "Marty is coming into town this weekend." Her face is brighter than a motherfrickin Christmas Tree.
"Are you going to hang out with him?" Marty and I aren't as close as everyone else but we are still friends. But we all know him as Marty From The Party. "Wait, shoot. My mom wants me home, I'll see you guys later." Andi grabs her bag, waved at Amber then leaves.
"$10 that they will date before Prom." Buffy held out her hand.
"Deal." I shook her hand and popped the last baby tater in my mouth. She picked up her helmet and stood up.
"I gotta go, Cy. See ya later." I waved goodbye. I stood up and stood there not moving. I wanted to leave, but I also want to go thank TJ for paying. I might as well, I mean, I can't just leave without thanking him.
I slowly walk over to his table and hesitantly tapped his shoulder. "U-uh, TJ..."
"TJ, is this that loser you were talking about?" And my heart dropped to the bottom of my stomach. "Go away kid, we don't associate with people like you." With the way he said it, I knew what he meant. The heart shattered. I looked down at my feet.
"What do you want?" TJ snapped at me. My head was still down but my eyes were looking at TJ, I don't know if he felt any guilt or regret. But he never stood up to his friend, and I thought maybe he wanted to be my friend. "If you're not going to say anything, go away!" He snaps once again. I didn't even bother speaking so I just ran to the door. I heard the conversation between his friends spark up again. Before I leave, I look at him once again. But what I didn't expect is for him to be staring right at me, with a tiny frown.
