(Hey guys, Kept You Waiting, Huh? Sorry it took a while to do this one. I hope you enjoy. thanks for all of the reads and votes. I'm glad people are liking this story. That's what I like about writing stories. It's the people's enjoyment. It means a lot to me. And with that, LETS GET GOIN!)

Ruby and Y/N got up and looked around. She was nowhere to be seen. Ironwood looked at them.

"What happened here?" He asked.

"I saw a girl on the rooftops sneak into the tower and so I asked Y/N to come with me to investigate. We ended up finding her and fought her a little bit. She must've ran off." Ruby explained.

"She's gone, right?"

"Seems so." Y/N said, spinning then holstering his revolver.

"Look, both of you, go back to your dorms and get some rest. We'll call you tomorrow and you can explain what happened in more detail." Ironwood said.

"Yes, sir." The kids agreed.

The dance ended up canceling, everyone went back to their dorms, and went to bed. While everyone else was asleep, Ruby and Y/N couldn't help but think about what happened earlier with the mysterious woman in the communication tower.

"Psst! Y/N! You awake?" Ruby whisper yelled from her bed, to Y/N, who was awake in his sleeping bag.

"Yep."

"Still thinking about that person?"

"Yep."

"Yeah, me too..."
...

...

...

"Yep." Y/N sighed.

"Hopefully we're not in trouble when they call us up there."

"We're probably not in trouble. 'Ol Woody Iron might be questioning me more, but you're definitely not at fault here, Ruby."

"Woody Iron?" She started to giggle a little.

"I'm probably gonna call Ironwood that from now on. It sounds funny to me."

"That is funny."

"Either way, we're gonna be fine. Don't worry about it, Rubes."

"R-Rubes?"

"I don't know. I just thought about it."

"You know, you can talk to me about anything, right?" Ruby asked, referencing the rough 'family' discussion during the dance.

"Yeah... I just don't feel ready yet, I guess. Thanks though."

"Oh, okay. I'm here if you need me. We should get some rest."

"Alright. Night, Ruby."

"Night, Y/N." They both drifted to sleep.

(TIME SKIP, BROUGHT TO YOU BY BaccaGod7 please read this person's story. They are honesty great. Far better than mine.)

The next morning, Ruby and Y/N were called to Ozpin's office.

"Wake up. It's time to go." Y/N said to Ruby, who was still sleeping. He was already fully dressed. Everyone else was already down at the mess hall, eating breakfast.

"Five more minutes...." Ruby whined, snuggle deeper into her pillow. Y/N booped her nose.

"We gotta go see Ozpin. He called us to his office."

"Tell him we'll be there five minutes late."

"Ugh." Y/N sighed. He thought for a while, until... he had an idea. An awful idea. Y/N had a wonderful, Awful idea.

"I guess I'll eat these strawberries myself." Y/N said walking to the door. Ruby's eyes shot open and all there was, was a blur of red into the bathroom and then back out. There Ruby was, all dressed and ready to go.

"Hey!! There's no strawberries here!" Ruby pouted.

"Ha! Gotcha! That always works."

"You're making it up to me by buying me cookies later." She pointed at Y/N.

"Alright, alright." He chuckled, putting his hands up in defense. They both walked over to the elevator to Ozpin's office. Y/N pressed the button. They went up. On the third floor, someone came on. They 'accidentally' pressed all of the buttons to the other floors and then hopped off on the fourth floor. (What a meanie am I right?) Ruby sighed and pouted. Y/N just patted her on the back to make her feel better. After a (Hell of a) long wait, they finally reached the top. They heard people talking. The doors didn't open.

"Come in." Ozpin said. The doors opened, finally. In the office, stood Ozpin, Irony Guy, and Mrs. Goodwitch.

(I'm probably going to just give Ironwood bad nicknames from now on. I think it's funny.)

"Sorry it took so long. It took a little while to get 'little miss sleepy' here, out of bed." Y/N said.

"And someone came in on the third floor, pressed all of the buttons, and then left on the fourth floor..... it wasn't me." Ruby added. She and Y/N walked forward.

"Thank you for coming, both of you. How are you two feeling?" Ozpin asked calmly.

"I'm kinda hungry. What's for breakfast today?" Y/N held his stomach. Ruby elbowed him in the side.

"Oh! I'm fine could have used more sleep though." He corrected himself.

"And you, Miss Rose?"

"Okay, I guess. I'd feel better if my bad guy catching record wasn't oh for three." She giggled. Everyone gave her a quiet, but stern look. Ruby scratched the back of her head.

"Okay, so that's the tone we were going for, got it..."

"Ruby, Y/N, I feel that it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you two did last night is exactly what being huntresses and huntsmen are all about. You recognized a threat, you took action, and you did the very best you could."

"Thank you, sir." Ruby said.

"Yeah. Thanks, sir." Y/N added.

"Now, the General here has already informed us of the events that happened last night, but now that you've rested, we were wondering if you have anything else to add?" Ozpin asked.

"Was anyone else with her? Did she look familiar to you at all?" Glynda started questioning the two.

"I.... ah.... I.. I don't know. She was wearing a mask. She never said anything to me. I know she fought with glass. I don't think that was her Semblance though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked." Ruby explained.

"Hmmm. Her weapons seemed to be a mixture of a bow and arrow mixed with blades of some kind." Y/N added.

"That sounds like the woman I fought the night we met Ruby." Glynda Said, trying to remember that moment.

"You fought her before?" Y/N asked, looking at Ruby.

"Yeah. Remember when I told you about the time I stopped a dust shop robbery? She was there and attacked me and Mrs. Goodwitch helped me out." Ruby explained to Y/N.

"Ah, okay."

"Embedding dust into clothing is an age old technique. It could have been anyone." Ironwooder said to Ozpin.

"Wait." Ruby said. The adults turned around to Ruby.

"You think this girl is connected to Roman Torchwick and the White Fang?" She asked.

"It's possible, but we still lack the required evidence to link the two together." Ozpin said.

"Actually...I think I remember her saying something about a hideout or something in the southeast, just outside the kingdom." Y/N said. He hid the fact that he and the team went out on their own mission and gained evidence that ended up with them fighting a giant Metal Ge.... I mean Atlesian Paladin. Ozpin smiled.

"Interesting."

"I thought you said the intruder never..."

"Thank you for your cooperation, Ruby, Y/N. Why don't you go spend some time with your team. You have a big day ahead of you."

"Anytime." "Yep." The younger students started to walk towards the elevator.

"Please try and be... discrete about this matter."

"Yes, sir." They Said in unison. They went to the elevator and went down. It wasn't as long of a ride down.

"Good job keeping our secret mission a secret, Y/N." Ruby said.

"I didn't want that conversation to go any longer. They were intimidating me..." Y/N said back. When they reached the bottom, they went to their dorm. Y/N opened the door for Ruby.

"Thank you—" Ruby was about to finish until Yang, Blake, and Weiss blocked the door.

"WHAT HAPPENED?!" Yang asked, very curiously.

"Umm well uh.. heheh.." Ruby giggled a little.

*(Small time skip, as Y/N and Ruby explained everything to the rest of the team.)*

"That was a risky move." Weiss said with her arms crossed.

"No. I think you handled it well." Blake disagreed.

"I hope so... Y/N did keep our secret mission a secret. So thanks to him for that." Ruby said. Y/N did a thumbs up. Yang put her hand on Ruby's shoulder.

"I'm sure everything will be alright, Ruby. Oh, I know what will cheer you up!" Yang said, happily walking over to a package. She picked up the cylindrical package.

"What's that?" Y/N asked.

"I don't know, yet. Dad sent it to us. That's why I wanted to open it together." Yang Said to Ruby. Ruby was excited.

"Ooooh something from home!" She squealed and boosted herself onto Yang's back, reaching with all her might to grab the package. Yang popped open the package, and a gray cylinder came out. It started hopping and moving on the floor. Out of nowhere, it took the form of a dog. A corgi to be more specific. It barked twice. Everyone looked at it. Then, Yang and Ruby jumped up in happiness, Blake looked like she saw a ghost, and Weiss was just surprised. Y/N was surprised, yet ultimately confused.

"Zwei!" Ruby yelled in happiness.

"HE SENT A DOG?!" Blake asked, absolutely confused.

"IN THE MAIL?! Weiss added. Ruby held Zwei in her arm as he licked her face.

"IT'S A CUTE DOGGO! OH MY GOSH!" Y/N yelled in excitement.

"He does this stuff all the time." Yang Said.

"Your father or your dog?" Blake asked, hiding in Ruby's bed.

"Are you telling me...that this mangy, drooling mutt is going to wiv with us fowever? Oh yes he is. Yes he is." Weiss turned from angry to as if she owned a dog herself. Blake kept as far away from Zwei as possible.

"Please keep that thing away from my belongings." She said. The intercoms come on in the room.

"Will all first year students, please report to the amphitheater." Glynda Said on the intercom system.

"Well, we cant exactly leave him here while we're gone for a week." Weiss said.

"Wait, where are we going again?" Y/N asked, confused.

"We have to shadow a genuine huntsman or huntress for a week in a location. We kill Grimm, do research. Stuff like that." Ruby explained.

"Ah okay."

Yang looked in the package and pulled out a note.

"Oh, it's a letter."

"I gotta use the bathroom." Y/N said, getting up from his sleeping bag. He grabbed his phone and his scroll and went to the bathroom.

*(The smallest time skip because I'm lazy.)*

Everyone went to the amphitheater with their gear, ready. Ruby was carrying a large backpack. Glynda took the stage.

"Ozpin would say a few words before we begin."

Ozpin came on the stage and up to the microphone.

"Today, we stand together, united: Mistral, Atlas, Vacuo, Vale. The four kingdoms of Remnant. On this day, nearly 80 years ago, the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, of greed, and of oppression, a war that was about much more than where borders fell or who traded with who, but about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression, and as you are all well aware, that was something many could not stand for. As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their children after one of the core aspects of art itself: color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither would the generations to come. And it was a trend that is held to this very day. We encourage individuality, expressionism, and unity through diversity. As I have said, today we stand together, united. But this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why, today, while the rest of the world celebrates peace, huntsmen and huntresses work to uphold it. As first year students, you'll be tasked with shadowing a professional huntsman or huntress on a mission. Some of you may be taken out of the kingdom for several days. Others may work within the walls for the rest of the week. But no matter which path you choose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best." Ozpin left the stage. Everyone clapped loudly. Y/N was awestruck.

"Damn... what an amazing speech... people back on my world had nothing on this guy with their speeches." Y/N said To himself. He clapped along.

"This is perfect! All we have to do is shadow a huntsman working in the southeast." Ruby said cheerfully.

"Yeah. We'll follow them around by day and give'em the slip at night." Yang added.

"Let's check the 'search and destroy'" Weiss suggested. Everyone walked to the hologram panel.

"Ah there it is! Quadrant 5 needs Grimm cleared out." Ruby said.

The panel read:
'SEARCH AND DESTROY
HIGH GRIMM ACTIVITY

QUADRANT 5

MISSION START: ASAP'
_____________________________________________

"Well that is in the southeast." Blake said.

"Perfect!" Yang added. Ruby touched the panel, and then typed in her team name. She could only type in 'RWBY'.

"I'm Sorry, Y/N." She apologized since she couldn't put the first letter of his name in as well. She didn't want him to feel left out.

"Nah, don't worry about it." Y/N said. He didn't really care. The panel then read: 'MISSION UNAVAILABLE TO FIRST YEAR STUDENTS'.

"Wonderful." Weiss rolled her eyes.

"Any other ideas?" Blake asked. Ruby had an idea.

"We mail ourselves there..." She suggested.

"Yo. I'm in with that. That actually sounds fun. Cardboard box time." Y/N agreed.

"Am I right?" Ruby held her hand up. Y/N did a high five.

"Well, that's one option. We thought that the concentration of Grimm was too extreme for first year students. It seems that particular region is rather popular. In fact, I have the sneaking suspicion that you will make it there no matter what job you take." Ozpin came up.

"Whatever makes you say that?" Ruby asked.

"I'm still curious as to how you all found yourselves at the docks last semester. I'm interested to learn how you really learned about a hideout in the southeast. And I certainly wonder why witnesses reported seeing robots and rose petals in a dance club some time ago." Ozpin said.

".... I think he's on to us.. wanna book it?" Y/N whispered in to his team.

"I doubt I'll ever find the right answers I'm looking for. How about this. Instead of waiting for you all to break the rules, why don't we just bend them." Ozpin messed with his teacher device thing. A couple bleep bloops later and the panel was able to be activated again.

"We won't let you down." Y/N said.

"Thank you, Professor." Ruby added. Ozpin walked away. Ruby pressed the panel again to register the team name. It had 5 character slots. She smiled. She typed in 'RWBY_'. It was accepted.

Everyone walked outside to where the ships were about to send the students off to their missions. A student went by.

"Hey! Team CFVY is back!"

Blake went up to Velvet.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah I had Yatsuhashi on my back."

Y/N looked at the tall, muscular figure. He looked strong as heck.

"Your mission was supposed to end a week ago. What happened?" Weiss asked.

"Nothing happened. There were just... so many.." she walked away.

"We can do this. We've never back down before and we're not gonna start now. Besides it won't only be us fighting. There will be a genuine huntsman!" Ruby said happily.

"Yeah!" Yang added on.

Everyone then had a look of disgust, shock, and sadness on their faces. Y/N was happy.

"Why hello, girls! And Y/N! Who's ready to fight for their lives!" Ooblek said.

"This is gonna be great." Y/N said.

(Well that was it for this chapter. **Here's the plan. I have college classes starting up on the 19th and I wanna finish volume 2 before then. So, volume 3 might be a while to wait for since I'll only be doing bookwork on the weekends. ** But I hope everyone enjoyed this fun chapter. See ya next time!)
