The next morning, classes went on as they normally did. After classes were over, team RWBY, got their alternate clothes on. Y/N stood outside like he always does, until Ruby opened the door. Y/N came in to see them. Ruby then hopped on her bed. Weiss was on her bed as well.

"I bet it's kinda weird to see us in normal clothes, huh?" Ruby asked.

"I mean, kinda." Y/N Said.

"I thought that class would never end." Blake said, breaking the small talk.

"Alright, Guys! Today's the day. The investigation begins!" Ruby jumped off her bed and did a funny pose. Y/N laughed.

"Yeah!" He cheered.

"Thank you, thank you." Ruby bowed.

"I'm glad we're taking this so seriously." Weiss said.

"Hey, we got a plan. That's.... moderately serious." Yang added.

"Right. Everyone remember their roles?" Ruby asked her teammates.

"You and I will head to the CCT and check the Schnee records for any other dust robberies. Seeing that I'm in the family, it shouldn't be a problem." Weiss said to Ruby.

"The white fang has regular faction meetings to hand out orders and recruit new members. If I can get in, I can hopefully find out what they're planning." Blake said.

"I have an old friend on the shady side of town that typically knows everything going on in Vale. Getting information outta him shouldn't be too hard." Yang Said.

"Great! We'll meet up tonight to gather what we found. Let's do this!" Ruby cheered.

"Yeah!" Sun said, hanging from the window.

"Sun?!" Blake was stunned.

"How did you get up there?" Y/N asked.

"It's easy. I do it all the time." Sun said.

"HOL UP..." Y/N said.

"You do WHAT?!" Weiss asked.

"I climb trees all the time." He hopped in the room.

"So are we finally getting back at that Torchwick guy?"

"WE, are going to investigate the situation... as a team." Blake said.

"Sorry, Sun. We don't wanna get friends involved." Ruby said.

"You should always get friends involved. That's why I brought Neptune." Sun said pointing outside. Everyone stuck their heads out of the window to see Neptune hugging the wall on the ledge.

"How... did you get up here?" Y/N asked.

"I have my ways. I don't believe we've met. I'm Neptune." He said.

"Y/N, pleasure to meet you." Y/N greeted him.

"Seriously can I come in, I'm Like, really high up right now." Neptune Said, looking down. They let Neptune in the dorm and explained everything to him and Sun.

"Alright, I'll go with Weiss. Sun, you can go with Blake. Neptune, you can go with Yang since she doesn't have a partner. Everyone good?" Ruby asked.

"Actually, Ruby. Why don't you go with Yang? After all, she is your sister." Weiss offered

"Who would go with you?" Ruby asked.

"Uh, I guess Neptune could come with me." Weiss said.

"You just want alone time with him, don't you." Y/N snickered.

"Shut up." Weiss whispered to Y/N.

"Pshh, nah!" Ruby laughed.

"What about me?" Y/N asked. Everyone looked at him.

"Uhh... right. You kind of have a choice here. You can either go with me, Yang, or Blake. What do you choose?" Ruby asked.

"I'll go with you. I can't go to the Faunus meeting, and I don't trust shady places." Y/N Said.

"Then it's settled. Let's go, Weiss." Ruby dragged Weiss out of the door. Y/N followed behind.

"But...! But....!" Weiss was dragged.

Outside, the three students were walking towards the transit tower.

"Ooh Wow! I forgot how big the transit tower is up close!" Ruby marveled at the large building.

"That is a large building." Y/N said, looking at the top of it.

"You two should see the one at Atlas." Weiss said.

"That was the first one, right?" Ruby asked.

"Correct. Atlas created the cross continental transit system to allow the four kingdoms to communicate with one another. It was their gift to the world after the Great War." Weiss stated.

"Ooh, look at me, my name is Weiss, I know facts. I'm rich." Ruby laughed. Y/N laughed along with her.

"Okay, that was actually really funny, Ruby. Good one." He laughed. He gave her a high five. Weiss looked angry.

"Don't be pests. Besides, the only reason we're here, is because you like the tower so much. We could have easily made a call from the library." Weiss said.

"Yeah, but, it feels good outside." Y/N Said.

"The tower is so cool! I'm gonna take a picture." Ruby pulls out her scroll and then she fumbles a bit, dropping it on the ground, several feet away.

"Oh." A girl picked it up.

"You dropped this." She held it out.

"Penny? Is that you?" Y/N asked.

"Penny?" Ruby looked at her.

"Uhhh."

"Where have you been? We haven't seen you since the night at the docks." Ruby said.

"I'm sorry, I think you're confused." She hiccuped, throwing the scroll into the air. Y/N caught it and handed it back to Ruby.

"Thanks, Y/N." She turned back to Penny.

"Uhh, I've got to go." She turned and ran off.

"What was that all about?" Weiss asked.

"I dunno, Weiss." Y/N Said.

"I'm gonna find out. You go make your call. I'll meet up with you later." Ruby said, running after Penny.

"I guess I'll go as well. Sorry, Weiss!" Y/N Said, running after Ruby. Ruby caught up to Penny as well as Y/N.

"Penny! Where have you been? It's been weeks!" Ruby asked.

"There seems to be a misunderstanding." Penny continued to walk.

"What?! Penny, is everything okay? Penny please stop!" Ruby grabbed her arm.

"Look, I don't know what's wrong but you have to listen to me. Those guys we fought at the docks. We think they're up to something big. Something bad. I need you to tell me what happened to you that night. Please. As a friend." Ruby pleaded to Penny. Penny sighed and got close to Ruby.

"It isn't safe to talk here". She whispered.

"Can Y/N come, too?" Ruby asked.

"That is fine." Penny Said.

An hour later, Penny, Y/N, and Ruby were walking down the streets of Vale.

"I wish I could help you, Ruby, but I don't know anything about those men." Penny explained.

"Well, what happened to you that night? We were all together, then you just disappeared." Y/N asked.

"Were you kidnapped?" Ruby followed with another question.

"Oh! No! Nothing like that!"

"Then where did you go?"

"I never been to another kingdom before. My father told me not to venture out too far, but you have to understand, my father loves me very much. He just worries a lot." Penny Said. Y/N looked down. He remembered his father before he came here. He remembered the fond memories he had with him. Y/N looked to the sky and smiled.

"Believe me, I know the feeling, but why didn't you let us know you were okay?" Ruby asked.

"I... was asked... not to talk you, or Weiss, or Blake, or Yang, or even Y/N. Anybody really."

"Was your dad really that upset?" Y/N asked

"It wasn't my father." Penny Said. Then they heard an announcement. They turned the corner to see a large group of people standing at a stage. There were 6 robots standing in front of 2 large boxes. A hologram of Ironwood stood, talking to the people. They listened in.

"-wouldn't you agree?" The hologram said. Everyone started clapping as the robots bowed.

"But, the kingdom of Atlas is a kingdom of innovation. Fine? That's not good enough, is it?" The boxes open to reveal different robots.

"Presenting, the Atlesian Knight!" Everyone clapped as the new robots put their feet down on the older models.

"Smarter, sleeker. And admittedly, a little less scary-"

"I don't like where this is going... this is leading to a direction I don't wanna go in." Y/N said to himself.

"-but they won't be alone. Now, the Atlesian military always support the idea of removing men from the dangers of the battlefield. However, there are still many situations that undoubtedly require a human touch."

"Ruby..." Penny Said to her.

"So, our kingdom's greatest minds, in cooperation with the Schnee Dust Company, are proud to introduce... THE ATLESIAN PALADIN!!" The hologram of Ironwood went away. It was replaced by a hologram of a giant manned mech.

"Holy Crap, What the heck?! They have Metal Gears here?! Oh my god... you've gotta be kidding me." Y/N Said. Ruby was bent over. She marveled at the giant mech.

"Uh.. Ruby. Remnant to Ruby." Y/N Said, waving his hand in front of her face.

"Ruby... maybe we should go somewhere else." Penny Said. She then noticed 2 guards. She started running.

"Penny?! Wait! Where are you going?!" Ruby ran after her. Y/N followed. They cut through some alleyways. Ruby then used her scythe to cut down a bunch of boxes to block the path of the guards. Afterwards, Ruby used her Semblance to grab Penny and speed through the alleyway. Y/N couldn't run that fast. Next thing he saw was Ruby in the road, about to get run over by a truck.

"RUBY!!!" Y/N ran towards her as fast as he could. He didn't want her to die, his best friend. Ruby looked up and saw the truck. The trucked honked its horn. Y/N was lucky enough to get there in time and pushed her out of the way onto the sidewalk. Then, Penny blocked the incoming truck for Y/N, saving his life. She stopped the truck in its tracks. Ruby and Y/N were dumbfounded. A little scared even. They just ignored the fact that their lives were saved. Penny started running again. Ruby followed. Y/N stayed behind, to think about the fact that he almost died, and he saved his best friend's life. He also tried to help the person in the truck. After a little while, He went back to see Ruby and Penny.

"I'm not a real girl." Penny Said, showing her hands. Her hands had robotic, and metallic parts to it.

"Oh..." Ruby and Y/N both Said.

"Penny.. I don't understand." Ruby said.

"Most girls are born. I was made. I am the first synthetic person capable of generating an aura. I'm not real." Penny Said with a sad tone.

"I believe you're real." Y/N Said.

"Of course you are.. just because you got nuts and bolts and not squishy guts, doesn't makes you any less real than me and Y/N." Ruby explained.

"I don't... you're taking this extraordinarily well." Penny Said

"You're not like those things we saw back there. You've got a heart, Penny." Y/N Said. Penny hugged the both of them and then stuffed them in a dumpster to hide them from the guards. The guards ended up taking her home.

"Ruby... this is where I belong.. in the trash. This is my home." Y/N laughed. Ruby giggled along.

The evening went on as Ruby and Y/N were chatting in the alleyway.

"Hey, Y/N..."

"Yeah?"

"I wanted to thank you, for saving me.. from the truck. I would have probably died from it if it weren't for you. It means a lot to me that you'd risk your life to save me." Ruby looked down with a red tint to her face.

"Well, when I came to beacon I swore an oath to protect my teammates, whatever the cost. Even though you're my leader, you're no different, Ruby. You're my best friend. I would never let you die." Y/N Said, happily. Ruby hugged him. Y/N was kinda shocked by this. He hugged back. After a couple seconds they let go. He ruffled her hair a little bit.

"I'm just glad you didn't die either. Thank goodness Penny saved your skin there, am I right?" Ruby asked.

"Totally. I have been in a car accident before, but, never hit by one. I want to continue that way." Y/N laughed. Ruby laughed along. Out of nowhere the scrolls rang. Ruby picked it up.

"Hello-"

"HEEEEELLLLLPPP!!" Even Y/N could hear Sun's voice from her scroll. He talked about there being a giant mech on the loose with Torchwick, piloting it.

"Oh god... well, time to kill a Metal Gear. Anybody have a rocket launcher? Or another Metal Gear?" Y/N was talking to himself.

"I'm not gonna miss this!" Ruby ran off. Y/N followed. Y/N ran to the bottom of a bunch of roads to a freeway with Ruby. The rest of the team members were fighting the mech on the roads until it came to the ground as well. Everyone followed. Sun and Neptune were gone. The mech came close.

"Freezer burn!" Ruby yelled. Weiss created a large pool of ice around the mech and yang punched it with fire, creating a mist. The mech started using thermal imaging laser trackers to track the team.

"Operation: Blind Eye!" Ruby ordered. Y/N snuck behind the mech, through the mist without being detected. Y/N jumped on the back and started stabbing the back of the mech, opening holes. He jumped off of it, doing a backflip, landing it.

"Now!" Ruby said.

"Hmph, JACKPOT!" Y/N yelled with a smile, firing a bullet into the open hole in the back. It cut through several wires, damaging the mech a lot. Torchwick grabbed Y/N from behind and threw him at Yang, causing the two to fly back a couple feet on impact.

"Checkmate!" Ruby said. Blake and Weiss ran at the mech, slashing at its legs. Weiss disabled the thermal imaging laser trackers on the mech. Then it fired missiles at them. They dodged most of them until Weiss got hit. She then gave Blake a time based powerup where she cut all the missiles down.

"Ladybug!" Ruby yelled. Blake and Ruby went back and forth, sending slashes at the legs of the mech. Then, they cut off one of its arms. Yang then ran at it, jumping to the top. She put shotgun shots into it. Then, Torchwick sent the mech backwards into three large, concrete columns. Breaking two of them. Yang got punched through the third one.

"Oh, she dead!" Y/N yelled.

"Yang!!" Blake yelled as well.

"Don't worry. With every hit she grows stronger. She uses that energy to fight back. That's what makes her special!" Ruby said. Yang got up. She was pissed beyond belief. The mech tried to punch her but she blocked it easily. She then punched the arm right off of the mech itself.

"Daaaaaannggg! You go, Yang!" Y/N cheered. Yang was kicked away.

"Bumblebee!" Ruby yelled. Blake threw her blade at Yang. She caught it and started running in a circle, gaining momentum.

"We have to slow that thing down!" Y/N Said.

"How do we do that!?" Weiss asked.

"Ice flower!" Ruby and Weiss teamed up to create ice bullets that created ice shards on impact. It slowed the mech down to a halt. Yang was going really fast now. She then ran right at Torchwick's mech and punched the entire thing clean off, turning it to scrap metal pieces, everywhere. Torchwick stumbled out of there and dusted his clothes off.

"Ah.. and I just got this thing cleaned." Roman complained. Yang shot a shell at Roman. Then a girl that looked like she came out of a Neapolitan ice cream sandwich showed up with a pink umbrella, blocking the shot.

"Ladies, ice queen, alien."

"Hey!!" Y/N and Weiss said.

"It's been a pleasure. Neo if you'd please." Roman Said. The girl did a pose as Yang ran up and punched them. It turned into glass and shattered.

"Whoa... that's cool." Y/N Said.

"Whew. We did it." He added.

"Yeah." Ruby cheered.

"Let's go back." Weiss said.

"Where is Neptune and Sun?" Blake asked.

"I think they went to a noodle shop." Y/N Said. Everyone then went back to beacon, and to bed.
