Taehyung sat with the letter in his hand. It was midnight and he was unable to sleep. The only thing he kept doing was re-reading the letter again and again.

"He disappeared after that night and now suddenly sent me this letter," Taehyung muttered to himself.

He carefully folded the letter and walked near the window. The soft moonlight fell on him like a gentle spotlight. The cool air refreshing his mind.

He looked outside. The world seemed so still and calm but inside, his mind was full of thoughts.

Taehyung wrapped his arms around himself as the cold breeze blew close to him. After a few minutes, he turned away from the window and sat on the edge of his bed.

He was unsure of why Jungkook called him tomorrow, but one thing he was sure of was that he would be there. He was longing to see Jungkook for weeks and now he can't let this opportunity slide.

The night was long for Taehyung. He couldn't sleep at all. The only thing he did was walk back and forth in the room with the letter in his hands.

As soon as the morning came, Taehyung quickly dressed up to leave from there. The palace looked so calm and quiet in the morning, with just a few servants working.

Taehyung went towards the back gate of the palace. He stood a little far from there. His body shivered from the cold as he wrapped his arms around to warm himself.

Taehyung looked around to see Jungkook but he was nowhere to be seen but Taehyung was determined to stay there until Jungkook comes.

He stood there for thirty minutes until he saw a figure approaching him, the mist blocking his view.

Taehyung's eyes lit up when he saw that it was Jungkook. A small smile appeared on his face but he was fast enough to cover it.

Jungkook was dressed in all black. His hair falling on his eyes. Taehyung's heart raced, not just from the cold, but from the sight of Jungkook.

"You came?" Jungkook said as soon as he came near Taehyung, "I thought your royal ego wouldn't let you come."

Taehyung clutched on his clothes. He didn't expected Jungkook to talk this way. He couldn't utter a word, all he did was just stare at Jungkook's face.

"My ego?" Taehyung shot back, "Or was it your ego that kept you from coming here for weeks."

Jungkook laughed, "Your Highness, you should know by now that I only come when I want to and not when you expect me to," Jungkook said, bending down to Taehyung's level.

Taehyung's lips curled into a bitter smile, "Right," he said, "You only come when it suits you, but it was foolish of me to think that I mattered to you, and you will come on your own."

Jungkook huffed, "So now, why did I then even came here," he muttered.

"You said you wanted to freely roam outside," he suddenly said. Taehyung looked at him in surprise.

"Let's go," Jungkook said, extending his hand towards Taehyung.

"What? Go where?" Taehyung asked.

"Anywhere you want," Jungkook replied. His voice soft.

"Why do you want to take me out so suddenly?" Taehyung asked, his tone a bit surprised and confused.

Jungkook didn't replied and just stood there staring at him. Taehyung stared at Jungkook's extended hand for a moment. The sudden change in Jungkook's behaviour surprised him.

Taehyung stepped forward and held Jungkook's hand softly. The touch was electric, sending a shiver down his body.

"I don't trust you," Taehyung said looking at Jungkook, his fingers still intertwined with Jungkook's.

Jungkook chuckled, "But you still want to come with me, don't you?"

Taehyung broke eye contact and looked down. Jungkook started walking without any word, guiding Taehyung with him, their hands interlocked.

Taehyung followed him quietly. They walked towards the back gate of the palace. Something felt a bit off to Taehyung. He looked around.

"Why are there no guards here?" He said, surprised.

Jungkook had a smirk on his face. He didn't reply and just pulled Taehyung by his hand and started walking out from there.

Jungkook held Taehyung's hand as they walked along the quiet path. They both didn't said anything and just walked quietly. The early morning air was cool and fresh.

"Where are we going?" Taehyung finally asked, breaking the silence.

Jungkook glanced at Taehyung, "Where do you want to go?" he said.

Taehyung bit his lips. He had been living in this kingdom for years, and still, he was not aware of the places around him, "I don't know much outside the palace," he said slowly.

Jungkook nodded his head, "Then let me show you something special."

Jungkook changed the path and started walking towards a hill. They started walking up the hill. Taehyung couldn't help but admire each and every little thing around.

Soon, they reached the top of the hill. Jungkook stopped and pointed towards the horizon, "Look."

Taehyung turned his gaze and gasped softly. His eyes widened in surprise. The view was breathtaking. The valley below them stretched like a painting. The soft morning light began to spread and the golden rays falling on the hill.

"So beautiful," Taehyung said dreamily. His eyes struck on the view in front of him.

Taehyung took a long breath. It was so different from the palace- so open and free. He turned to Jungkook, a big smile adorning his face.

"I've never seen anything like this before," he said.

Jungkook chuckled, "It's just a sunrise."

"It feels peaceful," Taehyung said as he again turned to look at the view.

They stood there for a while, side by side, watching the sun slowly rise higher. Taehyung felt a sense of calmness that he hadn't felt in a long time.

Taehyung's eyes drifted towards his feet and caught the sight of wildflowers. Their bright colour stood out against the green grass.

Taehyung immediately crouched down and started collecting the flowers. He collected them carefully, one by one, and held them in one hand. He walked around to collect more varieties.

Jungkook watched him silently. The way Taehyung admired every little thing like he was seeing the world for the very first time made Jungkook surprise.

"What are you going to do with these flowers," Jungkook finally asked.

Taehyung stood up, holding the bouquet of flowers he had gathered, his eyes shining with excitement, "I don't know," he said, smiling, "Maybe something as a memory of this moment."

They walked around for a little longer. Taehyung still collecting the flowers here and there. Taehyung felt a sense of freedom that he couldn't feel in the palace.

"You are easily pleased," Jungkook chuckled when he saw Taehyung admiring the flowers.

"No, I just appreciate the little things," Taehyung said, smiling.

After a while, Jungkook decided to head back. They began walking down the hill. Taehyung knew that he would remember all these moments.

They both walked in the streets. Not many people were seen in the streets. There were just the vendors setting up their stalls. As they walked in the streets, Jungkook recognized a familiar face approaching him- it was Namjoon.

"Jungkook," Namjoon called as he reached near them.

Jungkook didn't reply and just stared at him, clearly not liking his presence at this time.

Namjoon glanced at Taehyung, "You are... busy," he said.

Jungkook's expression remained the same, "Yes, I am," he said.

Taehyung, who had been busy looking around, finally noticed someone's presence. He confusedly looked at Namjoon.

"I thought we talked about this," Namjoon said as he glanced at Taehyung.

Jungkook sighed, "I know what I am trying to do, Hyung," he replied.

Taehyung was so confused as he heard their conversation but he could sense the tension between them.

"Let's go," Jungkook said, glancing at Taehyung. They both walked away from there leaving Namjoon behind.

"Who was he?" Taehyung asked as soon as they came a little far from Namjoon.

"Hyung," Jungkook sighed. Taehyung, though confused, still nodded his head.

As they walked towards the palace, a question came into Jungkook's mind, he immediately stopped on his track and turned towards Taehyung.

"Won't people ask where you've been?" he asked curiously.

"I already told my head servant that I have to go out," Taehyung said, "She will cover for me so it won't be a problem."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, "You are well prepared," he said and again started walking towards the palace with Taehyung following him behind.

They both slowed down their steps as they reached near the palace. "Thank you for today," Taehyung muttered, "I enjoyed it and... did you?"

Jungkook stopped to look at Taehyung, "It doesn't matter... You enjoyed it, that's what matters," he said calmly but the emotions Taehyung felt in these words were indescribable.

Taehyung pressed his lips together to stop his smile but failed. "It does matter, maybe not to you but it matters to me," he whispered.

Before Jungkook could respond, Taehyung slowly took a step towards Jungkook and gently held Jungkook's hand.

"You don't always have to be so distant... not with me," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Jungkook looked down, his eyes struck on their intertwined hands. Neither of them spoke anything for some time. After a few minutes, Jungkook turned to face Taehyung, his eyes filled with emotions.

He gently pulled Taehyung closer, their hands interlocked. It wasn't much, but it felt more intimate than anything.

Both of them again stood silent, staring into each other's eyes. The world around them seemed to stand still.

Jungkook stepped back, breaking the moment. He looked at the palace gate and then at Taehyung, "You should leave."

Taehyung didn't wanted to go back to the place where he had no freedom. He always felt so free after coming out from the palace, but again, he always had to go because some things are not always in our control.

Taehyung bit his lips as he looked at the palace, "Yeah... I will have to," he mumbled. "Thank you for today," Taehyung said with a smile.

He looked at Jungkook for the last time before finally walking towards the palace. He turned around to wave at Jungkook as he reached the palace.

Jungkook chuckled seeing Taehyung waving like a kid, "Go inside," He whispered to himself, "Before I change my mind."

Jungkook stood there until Taehyung disappeared from his sight. "Why am I doing this?" was all that came in Jungkook's mind.
