From Dragons to Wolves

Hello readers! Man, it's been a while since I got a chance to sit down and update this chat book. To tell you the truth, it feels like I'm so busy I can barely keep my head above water, but I am still trying my best to keep up on Wattpad. It was so exciting to finish Sly a few weeks ago, and now I'm working on the ending to Giving Blood At The Danton Bakery. I know it's been slower than you guys want for updates. Trust me, it's been slower than I wanted it to be too. But I am glad to say I'm working on it as we speak, and Theo and Bea can finally have a happy ending. And after all that? My only project updating on Wattpad will be Camp Wannalove which you can find the first chapter of right now. It will be nice to have just one project to focus on for once haha.

So, what's been keeping me so busy? Let's start with Dirty Lying Dragons. This book deal has been a dream. And I've grown so much as a writer just by going through all these changes and new experiences. From working with editors, to release day, to learning marketing, to attending author signings, it's been a whirlwind year for me. Dirty Lying Faeries is selling well, I'm happy to report. And Dirty Lying Dragons comes out in a week! How exciting is that? I know I for one am bursting at the seams waiting for the readers to have the print version in their hands. But it is a lot of work, so that's a big part of what has been taking my time. But now that Dragons is hitting stores, I'm editing Dirty Lying Wolves and making it the best it can be for its 2024 release. Wolves is a little bigger than Faeries and Dragons, so I'll be working hard to trim the excess and polish the important parts. Content editing, the first round of edits in which you fix the overarching story, is the hardest for me to do for whatever reason, so this one in particular being as big as it is will surely kick my butt.

In other news of things that are taking up my time, I do have a son with more energy than I can contend with and right now he's on summer break. But with fall will come school, and he'll be happily bouncing around the playground with his friends so I can get some much-needed work time in. I also need to keep working on new projects so when my three-book deal is finished, I can pitch new books with my agent to hopefully keep publishing works. I have a couple things in the works right now, and I hope to be able to self publish one of them and pitch the other to my agent. It's been challenging to fit time in my days for these, but slowly they are coming together.

One thing of note, I did pitch Dirty Lying Sirens to Wattpad Books, and sometime this fall they will have their meeting to decide on if they would want to pick it up or not. If Sirens joins the ranks of the other three books and gets picked up for publishing, I'll be working on the next book in the series which will be Dirty Lying Demons. I have the loose plot, but if I hear back on Sirens I'll be putting more of my time toward this book since I'll need it if they finish Sirens and want more.

So, with all these projects in my lap and summer break on top of me, I guess I've been struggling to keep up with it all. I am happy to report that I'm writing this very update from my laptop on vacation, so I'm going to do my best to relax, unwind, and be able to come back for fall with plenty of energy to work. One thing I'm a bit sad about is that the notifications are beginning to be so much for me to keep up with that I'm missing comments and things here on Wattpad. I never in a million years thought I'd have so many notifications I couldn't keep up with them all, but here we are I guess. With that being said, PLEASE feel free to DM me if you want to make sure I see a comment or if you just want to say something to me. I never mind at all.

A few other places I've been active: I have a Tiktok under faeriesandcream but my name is also displayed on my profile page so I'll be easy to find. I also recently started a facebook readers group where I'm making sure I post something every few days, including sneak peeks and book recs. That one is named Sabrina's Dirty Lying Readers but if you can't find the group, you can probably find it easier if you go to my author page called Sabrina Blackburry Fantasy Author. And if Instagram is more your speed, I'm on there too and I have someone helping me to remember to post and get content on there weekly. That one is under sabrinablackburry on IG.

Whew! That was a lot to say. I guess I haven't been able to catch up on here in a while, but I'm always so glad to hear from you guys and I'm open to DMs on any platform you can find me on. Wish me luck on Dragons release day on the 8th, and I hope to catch up with you all again soon.

Stay safe, be kind,

~Sabrina
