Force Sight - part 6
Wow, didn't think this one-shot was going to be this long, sorry guys!! Hope you like long one-shots 😂😂
Anywho, part 6!!
"Awesome!" Ezra said excitedly. "What's the details?" Hera frowned at him.
"You know I only give the details in the briefing room, Ezra," Ezra nodded, knowing he was the one in the wrong. He grabbed Sabines hand and the six, including Chopper, walked to the briefing room.
Hera stood next to Kanan. She turned to him and they quickly wordlessly spoke. She nodded, and then sighed.
"We have been urgently called by Fulcrum to a mission. Apparently one of our high commanders, Fulcrum did not disclose its name, has been taken captive by the Empire and is being held captive on a Star Destroyer near Lothal. We need to infiltrate that Star Destroyer, find the commander, and rescue him off the ship." Ezra contemplated her words for a moment, then frowned and opened his mouth.
"I'm just calling the commander a 'him' for now, Ezra," She smiled as the teen snapped his mouth shut, proving she had guessed his question correctly.
Kanan took a step forward.
"Now," he began quietly. "There is something we need to discuss."
"Me," Sabine murmured from the corner. Ezra had let go of her hand, so she couldn't see anything, but she could feel the sudden awkwardness in the room. She loathed being the weak link. This was going to be really hard.
Kanan swallowed. He felt Hera squeeze his hand, and he squeezed back. For a moment he wanted to burst into tears. It was so unfair that they had to have this conversation. But he knew that wouldn't be a good thing to do, especially from him, so he dug deep, re-centered himself, and exhaled.
"Yes," he replied to Sabine, who then huddled further into herself. Ezra looked at her, confused.
"What the issue?" He said naively. "I'll just hold her hand, she shoots while I use my lightsaber. It'll be fine!" Sabine shook her head.
"Ezra, your forgetting one thing. I can only see through your eyes. I can't see on my own. So while you could be fighting a sith or inquisitor or something, you'll be looking at then, not around you to the stormtroopers or other enemies. I'll be useless if you get in a fight.
"And also, you will need both hands to properly defend yourself. You won't be able to do it with just one. It would be nearly impossible, even for you." Ezra cracked a smile at the sly compliment.
She sniffed. "So, I guess I'll just stay in the ship, and maybe Hera can go into the battle. That should work."
Hera thought about it, and it actually sounded like it would work.
"Do you mind, Sabine?" Hera asked her. Sabine hugged her knees.
"No, captain." Then she stood up and walked out of the room, to the astonishment of everyone in it.
"Sabine-" Hera called. She heard a sob, and then she heard Sabine running. Shaking her head, she turned to the others. She looked at Zeb.
"Zeb, when we get there, I want you to stay wherever it is we land the Ghost. It will be our only way out. We can't let anything happen to it." Zeb nodded, clearly distracted. Hera frowned deeply.
"Garazeb, did you hear me?" Zeb jumped at the tone of her voice, then nodded his head. He nodded again, and walked to his room, closing the door behind him.
Hera turned to her quiet Jedi Knight. Before she said anything he nodded.
"I got it," he said, and she nodded gratefully. Sometimes she really wished she wasn't such a natural leader, so she could just be a follower for once. Holding her temples where she felt a headache coming on, she left for the cockpit.
The men watched her leave, than Kanan sat down next to Ezra. The teen looked down at his hands, sighing. Neither master nor Apprentice said anything for a little bit. Kanan was waiting for when he knew Ezra would begin.
Ezra closed his eyes and shook his head. Kanan shrugged. Looks like he would get to start the conversation.
"How's your leg, Ezra?" The teen shrugged again.
"It's fine. Doesn't really hurt anymore." Kanan nodded. More silence. Then Kanan spoke.
"Hera wants you, her and I on the inside, working to get the commander out. We don't really have a plan yet,-"
"-so we'll follow our instincts and the force. I know Kanan, I've done this before. Let's just go and get it over with." He stood, but Kanan pulled him back down. He sat with a hard thump.
Ezra turned and glared at Kanan. He was not in the mood for this.
"What?" He asked. It came out rougher than he wanted it to, but he didn't apologize. He just wanted to get out of the room.
Kanan raised an eyebrow at Ezra's tone. He shook it aside though and spoke quietly.
"What's wrong?" He asked. Ezra shook his head vehemently.
"I'm fine Kanan," he replied through gritted teeth. If Kanan has eyes, they would've been rolling.
"Don't give me that Ezra. What's bothering you?" Ezra turned away.
Hera's voice came over the intercom. "We're in hyperspace guys. Get your stuff ready."
Ezra turned forward. Kanan felt so many emotions from him, strongest of which are confusion, relief, and anger. Kanan sighed as Ezra rushed from the room without a word. Ezra had two of the three emotions that would lead him to the dark side. He knew he would have to confront the boy about them, and it had to be done soon.
***
Ezra ran to the holding deck. He was really mad, but he wasn't sure why. He sat on one of the containers and took a deep breath. He crossed his legs and calmed down, centering himself. Closing his eyes, he attempted to at least settle his thoughts.
Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Ezra calmed himself, then began searching his feelings. He started with why he was so angry.
Was he angry at Kanan? He realized he was, but not much, and for no good reason, so he let go of that anger.
Did Hera do something? Well she banned Sabine from the mission. And then Ezra realized why he was angry.
It was Sabine. He wanted her to go on the mission. They would have to be together, literally Forced together. It was everything he had dreamed of, and it had almost happened. So close.
***
"So close," Ezra muttered aloud as Kanan sightlessly watched him from above. He was ever so slowly working his way into the teen's mind, being as inconspicuous as a Jedi master could, which was pretty inconspicuous.
Five minutes later he made it through Ezra's barricades, and what he felt almost made him take a step back. Kanan couldn't believe everything that was going on in Ezra's mind! He looked so peaceful on the outside, like he was sleeping, but that was certainly not the case for inside.
Kanan saw what Ezra had just evaluated about everything that had recently happened. He felt the confused gabble of emotions racing through Ezra's mind, and once again, Kanan didn't know how to help the teen. He was going through something Kanan himself had never gone through.
Well, Kanan internally amended, at least with the Force. He did understand how Ezra wanted to be with Sabine. He smiled as Hera came to mind.
Almost as if telepathy was at work Hera's voice suddenly came over the ships speakers.
"Alright, 5 minutes Ghost Crew, get ready!" Kanan sensed Ezra startle, and then jump up and run to his room. He felt his apprentice hurry to throw his gear together, and shook his head that Ezra hadn't already done that.
"He gets too caught up in his own emotions sometimes," Kanan muttered, walking away. Then he stopped. 'Sometimes I get too caught up in my emotions,' Kanan groaned at his thoughts.
"And you still wonder where he gets it from?" Kanan marched to the cockpit, deep in thought.
***
Sabine straddled her pillow harder and made no attempt to stem the flow of tears. She couldn't begin to wrap her mind around the fact that she would never go on a mission again. Never shoot up bucket heads. Never push Zeb around when he missed a shot.
She heard Hera over the intercom and sniffed.
"Pull up your big girl holster and put on your chest plate Sabine Wren, quite crying and start doing what you can." She inhaled shakily, and exhaled. Then she stood up and dumped the pillow, dried her eyes, and opened her door.
Nothing. She couldn't see a thing. Sighing, she closed her blind eyes and imagined what the hall looked like. Using that picture as a guide, she made it to the cockpit where everyone was gathered.
"Hey Sabs, how ya doing?" Ezra asked as she walked in. He immediately took her hand and she could suddenly see herself. She smiled and squeezed his hand, and he squeezed hers back.
"I'm fine, thanks Ezra." She replied. Ezra nodded, and then he looked to where Hera was seated.
"1 minute people...this could get hairy, but I was told the clearance codes would work,"
Kanan interrupted. "Aaaand how often have those sources been correct?"
Hera frowned deeply at him. "They'll work."
Kanan replies with a grin, "50% chance they work,"
"I'll go 43% chance," Zeb chuckled.
"43% Zeb?" Ezra asked, smiling. "No way. I bet 32%."
Sabine rolled her eyes. "Please men, let's be civil. If Hera trusts our man, I do too. 100% chance they work," she stated confidently.
Hera beamed. "Well, at least someone is on my side. No more guesses; we've arrived."
At that moment they pulled out of hyperspace, to see the great Star Destroyer. Sabine took a deep breath. This was about to get interesting.
Phew, 1660 words, that should hold you over until the next chapter. Hopefully. If this was any good, which I can't say, cause I'd be a little biased about it.
But heck, hope you enjoyed, and until next time Rebels!

P.S. Thank @Emeraldlight12! Wouldn't have done this without your reminder. Thanks for supporting this book!!!! Have a great day 👋
