Force Sight - part 4
Alright, the chapter you've all been waiting for - Force Sight, part 4!! Let the chapter COMMENCE!!!
Hera was in the cockpit when the door opened behind her. She didn't bother to turn around; she knew who it was.
(Dramatic first paragraph, hm?)
Kanan came and sat in the co-pilots seat and Ezra sat behind him. Hera sat up and turned to them.
"Everything go good?" She asked. Kanan turned to Ezra and lifted his brow, indicating for him to answer. Ezra tried to ignore him, but it didn't work. Sighing, he turned his left leg, showing it to Hera. Her eyes widened.
"Great Force, what happened?" She immediately jumped off her chair and went to Ezra's side. While she was examining the wrapping around his leg Ezra rubbed his head sheepishly.
"So, we went to the market place, buuut I guess the stormtroopers went first because they kind of met us there. Then there was this big battle, blah blah blah, Tourin blows up one of there speeders, but he forget to tell us, and I was kinda close to it, so the explosion blew me away, then a piece of shrapnel hit me in the leg, I wrapped it up, we sent the bucket heads packing, only one of our people died. Sorry?" He said, at the look of disgust on Hera's face.
"'Blah blah blah'?, really Ezra? You know that's not a complete report. What's got you in a frazzle?"
"Sabine," Kan replies from the corner. Ezra blushed and looked down. Hera nodded knowingly.
"Oh I see. She's fine Ezra. She's doing a lot better. Since I need to rewrap your leg anyway, why don't we go down there now?" Ezra shook his head.
"Yes please!" He replied. Hera shook her head smiling and held her hand out. Ezra grabbed it eagerly and jumped up. Then he took off, hobbling down the hall. He kept bumping into things and he bumped in the door to his shared room. Zeb came out frowning but smiled when he saw Ezra.
"Hey kid, I see you made it back alive." Ezra grinned.
"I'm going to see Sabine; you wanna come?" Zeb's eyes widened, and he nodded his head. The two raced/hobbled down the hall.
Hera smiled. She felt a hand slip into hers, and she squeezed it.
"How's she doing?" Kanan murmured. Hera turned to him.
"She's good, love. But there is one thing." Kanan raised his brow. He wasn't sure if he liked the confusion he felt coming from Hera.
Hera sighed, her brow furrowed.
"I was talking to Sabine, and she asked me when she became blinded. I told her immediately-as soon as the bolt hit. But then she said that when she first woke up, she could see, but it was from a different angle. She wasn't looking out from her body, but rather at her body. Do you know anything about that Kanan?"
Kanan used his free hand to rub his beard. He replied to Hera only after thinking long and hard.
"Well, what I do know is that Sabine wasn't struck with just any bolt; it was a force bolt. Part of Bendu himself was in that bolt. I'm not sure if he hit her on purpose though, or if he could actually direct his bolts," Kanan fell silent again. Hera couldn't take it, she had to interrupt.
"Kanan," She turned to him and grabbed his other hand. He turned his head towards her.
"Will," She almost couldn't form the words. Kanan gently squeezed her hands, and she exhaled, lips turned slightly up.
"Will she be blind forever?" Kanan sighed. He hated making Hera sad, but he knew he couldn't lie to her. He let go of her hands and pulled her into a hug.
"I don't know for sure Hera, but it's a good guess to say, yes, she's probably going to be blind forever." He held her close as he felt her shoulders shaking. Even he, the Jedi master, let some tears through. He knew how difficult this was going to be, especially for Sabine, with her love for art.
After a moment he heard steps coming down the hall, but he didn't let go of Hera. He waited until she heard them, and she let go. Quickly, she dried her tears. Then she squeezed Kanan's hand, her way of saying 'thank you', and she went and sat in her pilots seat.
Kanan walked out of the cockpit and shut the door behind him. He sensed it was Zeb coming down the hall.
"How are they?" He asked quietly. Zeb replied, "Well Sabine was asleep when we got there, so the kid was bummed out, but we wrapped him up and now he's asleep as well."
Kanan nodded. "Good, sleep is what they both need right now. Ezra will be up, probably tomorrow at the latest. He'll be fine." Kanan turned to go into his room, but Zeb grabbed his shoulder.
"And Sabine, Kanan?" Kanan exhaled. He replied, "You and I both know, Zeb." Kanan felt the disappointment coming from the Lasat.
"How's Hera taking it?" He asked.
"Like Hera takes everything." Kanan responded. Zeb then understood why his shirt was wet.
"I would leave her alone if I were you," Kanan added. Zeb nodded, and the two parted ways.

Ezra groaned as he sat up. His leg hurt, but it wasn't nearly as bad as earlier. He pulled back the sheets and rolled his leg in its side.
"Phew," He exhaled. It was definitely better. He bent his leg, up and down, and determined he could walk. The long scrape would leave a scar but it would go away in some years.
Ezra peered around the corner where the med droid usually was, and grinned when he saw it was turned off. He gingerly crawled out of bed, putting all his pressure on his un-injured right leg first, then slowly putting pressure on his left. He could put about three quarters of his body weight on it, so that was good.
He looked up and saw Sabine sleeping in the bed next to him, so he hobbled over to her and sat at the edge of it.
"Hm," he thought aloud. "Should I let you sleep, or wake you up?" He gazed at her, thinking, putting himself in her shoes. He became so lost in thought he didn't realize when Sabine naturally woke up.
Yawning, Sabine stretched her arms over her head. She blinked, then frowned.
'Why can't I see-' she thought, and then she remembered. Exhaling greatly, she let her arms fall ungracefully back to her sides. Then she heard breathing that meant she was not alone.
Heart beating wildly, she didn't know what to do. She debated on pretending she was asleep, but then remembered she had already yawned and stretched. So she did plan B.
Slowly, she started moving her hands. Then she felt on the left side of her bed a depression.
Someone was sitting on her bed.
She quickly withdrew her arms, terrified. Then she heard,
"Sabine! Your awake! Awesome." It was Ezra. Sabine sighed, relieved.
"Ezra Bridger, you nearly gave me a heart attack! I had no idea who was in here with me." Ezra gulped.
"Oh I'm sorry Sabine, I didn't think about that!" Sabine rolled her eyes, smiling.
"It's ok Ezra. What are you doing here?"
"Oh, you know," he said, not wanting any pity from the Mandalorion. "Just checking on you, seeing how you are. Oh, so how are you?" Sabine rolled her eyes again. Boys.
"I'm doing fine, thank you Ezra." He frowned.
"No Sabine, how are you really doing? I was with Kanan when he was first blinded; I know your not 'fine'." Sabine bit her lip.
"Well then, you must know it all, huh, seeing as you watched one person go through it. Ok course I'm not fine Ezra! I'm blind! Completely! I'll never be able to paint again. Never shoot a blaster again. Never," she sniffed. "Never see you guys again." Ezra looked at her, saw her tears falling. Knowing that, again, there was nothing for him to do.
He squeezed his eyes shut against his own tears. He grabbed her hand to comfort her.
Then Sabine screamed, and Ezra jumped and fell off the bed.
"Sabine!" He cried from the floor and got up as quickly as possible. She was sitting up, panting, staring in the direction of his voice.
"Ezra," she whispered.
"Sabine are you ok?" He said alarmed. She nodded weakly.
"Im fine, well I think so. Ezra, what did you just do?" He gulped.
"I, uh, grabbed your hand?" He replied, hopping she wasn't about to take his head off.
Sabine took her sightless eyes off him for a moment to think. And then things began falling into place.
"Sabine, talk to me, your seriously worr-" "Ezra was that the first time you grabbed my hand since I've been here?" 'Oh no. I'm dead,' Ezra thought.
"Well, I sort of maybe kinda could have maybe touchedyourhandwhenyoufirstwokeup, hee hee." Sabine stared at him wide eyed.
"Ezra, oh my Force, does this mean what I think it does?" Ezra was literally already half dead on the inside.
"Please don't kill me Sabine, I'm sorry, I'll never do it again-" "NO!" She yelled at him. Even though she was blind, Ezra saw glee all over her face. Complete befuddled, he titled his head.
"Ezra," Sabine began, voice quivering. "Grab my hand."
"What?!" He replied. Maybe he shouldn't have tried to wake her up.
"Grab my hand Ezra," she repeated. So, hands shaking, Ezra slowly reached out, putting his hand forward while tilting his head back, eyes starting to shut, praying he wasn't about to die.
He grabbed her hand.
And she screamed. Again.
But this time, when Ezra went to let go, he found that he couldn't, because she was squeezing his hand so hard.
"Ezra!" She yelled.
"What What Sabine?!" He wailed, his hand really starting to hurt.
"Ezra," this time she whispered it. Leaning closer, very carefully, Ezra whispered back, "What is it Sabine?"
Eyes shining, she said, "I can see."
