Chapter Thirteen
Celesti's POV
"Les, time to get up. We're home." I opened my eyes and saw Rogue looking at me, the paleness from his face gone.
"Aw man...I was enjoying my nap!" I covered my mouth with my hand to hide a yawn, "How are you feeling?"
"I actually didn't get sick. As for you, you can nap more when you're at your home." He let go of me and got up from his seat, "Will you be able to walk?"
"Yup! Some rest will help me. Any word from anyone in the guild?" I got up and tossed my backpack onto my shoulders, trying to keep a brave face on to ensure that the Master wouldn't get furious at me any more than he was.
I got pulled back suddenly, back into Rogue's arms. I was about to gasp, but was stopped by Rogue's left hand going over my mouth. He whispered to me, "There's Master Jiemma. I forgot he went to a meeting of all of the guild masters."
I looked out the window we were near and I saw the Master of Sabertooth, wearing his typical frown. He seemed in his usual foul mood because he muttered to himself, "Why can't I skip this meeting?"
I looked at Rogue's hand and saw darkness radiating out of it. He wrapped his right arm around my torso before he dived into the train car, and into the ground. He finally took his hand off of my mouth, so I gasped as he was carrying me to who knows where! His left arm scooped my legs off the ground, and all I could do was wrap my arms around his neck. Why does he like holding me like this? What is he trying to prove?
A few short moments later, we appeared above ground once more, back in my apartment. He walked over to my couch and sat down, never letting go of me. I sat up in his lap and looked at him in awe, "That was an awesome escape plan! But warn me next time when you want to escape like that!"
"I will, Les. On the brighter side, you're not going to get caught by the Master."
"True, but now what do we do?" I quickly moved away from Rogue, not because I was afraid, but because I had to sneeze.
Rogue smiled at me, "You're going to rest, alright? I'll use the lacrima communication device in the complex to call Sora over."
I got up and went into my bedroom, looking forward to some rest. I turned around and smiled at Rogue, "Thank you for taking care of me. I'll be in here if you need anything."
"Alright. I'll be back in a few." I heard my door open and shut as I closed my bedroom door. My bed never looked so comforting as it did in that moment! I quickly changed into a nightgown and let my hair down. Look, beauty is somewhat important, but health overall comes first!
I got underneath my covers and closed my eyes, in preparation for a nap. I was calming myself down by meditating when I heard the door to my apartment slam open! I jumped up out of bed and got ready to fight whoever it was that snapped me out of my trance! I opened my bedroom door and came face to face with the same person that served me at the guild. He waved at me and smiled, "Sorry for scaring you, milady! I didn't expect your door to be wide open like that! I had to get my bag through somehow."
I sighed out of relief as I knew I was safe and sound, "You're fine. You're Sora, aren't you?"
"Yup! I'm one of Sabertooth's so called 'chefs'. Master Jiemma doesn't believe in healing, so I had to get a different job at the guild. Don't worry, everyone except Jiemma and his daughter know my real role. What seems to be bothering you today?"
"I think I got a cold for being out in wintry conditions for a long time without any warmth on my last mission. I would have been in major trouble if Rogue didn't come save me. Speaking of...where is he?"
"Oh, he's at the guild, giving Rufus a piece of his mind." Sora chuckled as he led me over to my bed. I sat on my bed, my face heating up more as he started to gather materials from his bag. Of course, he had to turn around and see me blushing like a fool, and this caused him to laugh even more. Sora smiled as he put a glass and a bottle full of blue liquid on my nightstand, "Don't worry. Rogue is just overreacting because it's near dragon mating season and he thinks he found his mate."
"Rufus said that to me as well. Am I in danger?"
"No, not yet. But you might want to make sure that you don't get accidentally marked. Anyhow, the Master usually sends most of the female members on a mission, but he forgot to do that this time." Sora poured some blue liquid into the cup and handed it to me, "Drink up. I've got a plan to try and protect you and Yukino."
I drank the liquid and it felt like one of Madam Pomfrey's potions, the heat of it making me feel warmer. I put the glass down and smiled at Sora, "Thank you so much. But what exactly is your plan?"
"To send you two to Akane Beach Resort for a photoshoot with Sorcerer's Weekly! They were wanting to interview some Sabertooth members, and the Master said I could choose the members to go as he walked out, so I chose the two of you. You seem super close to Rogue, and I know Sting looks at Yukino with hearts in his eyes."
"When will we be going there? How long will we be there?"
"About a week at the most. You two will be heading out in a few days, after the Master approves of these choices. This will give you plenty of time to heal up. With that medicine, you should be feeling better by tomorrow morning."
"Will the Master let me go?"
Sora frowned as he started to pack up his things, "Who knows? He keeps trying to get one of the dragon slayers to date his daughter, but it never works. Those two never showed much interest in her beyond being her friend. He'll be blinded by the prospect of having the only female member around during that time be his daughter, so he'll agree." His bag snapped close as he turned to me, "Do you have any questions for me, milady?"
"No. Thank you, Sora. Also, feel free to call me Celesti. Milady makes me feel old, too prim and proper."
"I'll make sure to remember that, Celesti. Keep resting for today and stay warm, alright?" Sora turned around and paused mid-step, "Will you be alright being here by yourself for a bit?"
"Yup! Thank you for everything! I'll be napping anyways."
Sora waved at me as he turned back around, "Good. Please let me know if you need anything else."
I heard the door shut and sighed to myself, not believing what the healer had just told me. Yet, I couldn't afford to dwell on it for long because the medicine was making me feel sleepy. I pulled the covers up to my shoulders and closed my eyes, sleep overcoming me. I just hoped that there wouldn't be another jump scare like that to wake me up.
_____________
Celesti's POV
I woke up to the sun's rays shining into my window due to me forgetting to close my curtains. I blinked a few times to allow my eyes to adjust to the room and saw a vase full of red and gold roses on my nightstand. I took a deep breath of air in and smelt the sweetness of them, and was grateful and flattered at this gesture. Though, I already had a feeling of who the culprit was.
I tried to stretch and felt something curl around my arm. I looked and saw a cat wearing a pink frog suit, and I knew that my thought was right. I wrapped my other arm around Frosch as I turned away from the sun and whispered, "Sorry. I want to face away from the sun so I can rest some more."
Frosch opened its eyes and embraced my neck, "Lesti! You're okay!"
"Of course I am. I'm just a little ill, that's all. Sora came and took care of me, so I'll be better in the morning. Did my stirring wake you up?"
"Nope! I was just daydreaming!"
I sat up in bed and placed the cute Exceed in my lap, "You sure about that, buddy? You seemed like you were napping on me."
"Okay...so I was. Please don't tell Rogue that, or else he'll get mad at me! He told me to watch you until he got back."
"Back from where? Was he the one behind these flowers?"
"I don't know, but maybe somewhere with food? He did bring me over with those flowers."
I blushed when I looked at them, knowing that my thought was correct, "That's so sweet of him! He didn't have to do that!"
Frosch looked up at me and smiled, "He even asked Rufus advice on it, after he was done giving Rufus a piece of his mind. Oh! Speaking of..." Frosch jumped off my bed and started to run towards the living room area.
"Wait for me!" I got out of bed and followed the frog-cat creature. It was easy to catch Frosch because it was looking at something on the table. I looked at the pile of items on my table and saw an all too familiar cherry wand. I grabbed it and pointed it up in the air, "Yes! I'm back!"
Frosch smiled as it sprouted wings to get to my level, "Rogue also grabbed your bow and arrow too, but he took those somewhere else."
"Why is he taking care of me like this, Frosch? Would you know?" I sat down on my couch and looked outside, seeing the radiant sunset. I placed my wand next to me, knowing that it wouldn't give me the answers I was looking for.
Frosch flew over and sat on my lap, which caused me to peel my eyes away from the sunset, "I think I do."
"Would you care to enlighten me?"
"He loves you like he loves me! I was actually daydreaming somewhat, and I saw the two of you hugging me." My face heated up at this, not because of the sickness either. Frosch saw this and flew out of my lap to pick up something.
The pink frog-cat went back to the table to pick up an all too familiar black cloak. Frosch then flew back to me and draped it around my shoulders, "Does this make you feel better, Lesti?"
I wrapped it around my shoulders and smiled at Frosch, "Yes. Thank you for taking care of me as well. Can I actually tell you something that Rogue said to me?"
"Of course! Wait, let me do something first!" Frosch fasended Rogue's cape around my neck by tying it. I couldn't help but laugh at the cuteness of this moment. Frosch then sat back down on my lap and beamed up at me, "Now you can speak!"
"Rogue is actually jealous of you because of how much time you and I spend together."
Frosch's mouth hung open, but then the Exceed started to giggle a bit, "That's really funny! Can the three of us all spend time together soon, when you're better?"
I yawned and smiled down at the cute Exceed, "Yes. I like the sound of that." I laid my head down on the other side of the couch and wrapped Rogue's cloak to keep me warm. My right arm was wrapped around Frosch, but when I looked, the Exceed wasn't there anymore! I sat back up and saw a...ghost. With my blanket on it!
The blanket ghost mumbled, "I have your blanket, Lesti. Let me put it on you, and you'll be comfier out here!" Well, I found Frosch. I started to get up, but was quickly pushed back down by Frosch, "I'll tuck you in, don't worry!"
I couldn't help but laugh, "Thank you, Froschie. Do you mind if I call you that?"
Frosch looked up at me and nodded, "Yes! Do you have a nickname for Rogue yet?"
"No, but when I'm better, and he isn't around, we'll think of one together. Does that sound good?"
"Aye!" The little creature then curled up near my torso, so I wrapped my arm around it. It felt like I had a pet of my own. I really need to work on getting one of these for me. Though, I doubt Frosch would mind if I watched it.
I closed my eyes, feeling at peace with life. Maybe being sick in Sabertooth isn't that bad. I can get used to treatment like this.
