Merlin

So, I'm curious. What are the powers you got?

That's easy. For one, gravity manipulation. The enhanced senses are just annoying, and I awaken any dormant genes for magic. Raven and Exodus were the only ones affected, cause they hang around me enough for it to work.

Makes sense. Continue?

I'll just pick up after school. Nothing interesting happened that day anyway. Nothing interesting happens during school. Like, ever.

As Raven and Exodus came over to my house a lot, no one was surprised when I grabbed both of them by their wrists, practically dragging them along behind me.

"Woah, calm down Sabanthia," Raven squacked, practically running to keep up with me.

"Come on!" I said impatiently. "Mom said bring you over, and by stars I'm bringing you over!"

"She'd better explain that cut that keeps randomly opening and dripping blood everywhere," Exodus said calmly.

"She will. Until then, accept the fact I fell off my bed and cut my face open." I sighed, feeling blood slide down my face. I dropped Exodus's wrist, as he was trotting alongside me fine, and wiped the blood off my face before it dropped onto my shirt. Exodus helpfully handed me a tissue.

Seriously, that kid has eternal tissues on him. I have yet to see him run out of them. I have no idea where he puts them all too.

Did you bother asking?

Nope. Kinda didn't want to.

"Thanks Exodus."

"You're welcome. If you don't stop moving, we're going to go past your house."

I skidded to a stop, while he smirked at me. "Exodus!"

"At least I didn't let you run past it," he pointed out smugly.

I glared at him for a half second, the tissue still pressed to my face somewhat blocking him from view. "I hate you."

"Of course you do," he replied, smirking. "We going inside, or just standing here?"

"Going inside!" I shouted, dragging Raven behind me as I marched up to my house, opening the door without any ceremony, even though I had to let go of Raven's wrist to unlock and open the door.

"Oh, good you're home," my mom said, looking over at me. There was another woman in front of her, with black hair with strange white tips. A massive navy blue wolf stood next to her, staring cooly at me and my friends as we came in. "This is Ms. Merlin."

"Merlin, what kind of name is that?" I blurted before I could stop myself.

"One easier to remember then Emryn," someone else said, a note of amusement evident. The person in question looked like a mini version of the woman, massive lighter blue wolf and all. She flicked her hair over her shoulder, offering her hand to me. "Emryn Merlin. I usually go by Merlin though. Mom does to, but we add the Ms part when both of us are in the same room."

"Alright, Ravenna, Exodus, Sabanthia, Merlin, could you come here? We need to have a chat."

"When my parents say that, I get worried. Hearing it in this situation just reminds me we get answers," Exodus commented, sitting next to me, with Raven on my other side. Merlin, the older Merlin, and my mom sat across from us.

"Alright, I guess we'll begin with the Merlin's, as they're here," Mom said, nodding to the two Merlins. "Ravenna, this part involves you."

"You're a Le Fay, correct?" The older Merlin asked.

"Yeah, what's that have to do with anything?" Raven replied.

"You're a descendant of Morgan Le Fay," The younger Merlin explained. "Mom and I are from the Merlin line, so we are descendants of the wizard himself."

"They're just myths, right?" Exodus asked, looking like someone had just told him the world was going to drop out from underneath him.

Merlin didn't say anything, just held up her right hand, and looking Exodus in the eye, slowly pulled off her glove. I gaped as a hand with only four fingers was revealed. There wasn't a stub or anything where the pinky probably should've been, there just wasn't any place for one, like the smaller fifth finger had never existed. Her hand was also almost clear, her fingers tipped with blue.

So, is that like, a Merlin thing?

Yeah, in the old myths, he's a half demon. The figuring is that it skipped a generation, and so all of his descendants are stuck with the physical changes. It doesn't fade through the generations though. Merlins are stuck with it forever. All children of camelot have clear hands though.

Ouch. Continue?

"Um..." Exodus said, looking rather faint.

"If you pass out, I promise a slow death," I threatened him.

"You're mean," he complained.

"It worked, didn't it?"

"I hate you."

"Ahem," Merlin coughed. "Anyway, the four fingers is a trait specific to Merlin descendants, but the clear hand thing is a general trait of direct descendants. Raven, your hands are slightly lighter than the rest of your skin, no matter what, right?"

"Yeah, always wondered why that was."

"Well, it's cause you're not a direct descendant, but are still technically a descendant."

"Sabanthia, I meant to warn you. One of the innate powers amoung hosts is to awaken the inactive bloodlines in people with enough exposure. Raven, Exodus, you two will probably be the only one affected because of your closeness to Sabanthia," My mom warned. "In addition, both of you have inactive bloodlines. Exodus, I belive you have twin cousins around your age?"

"Yeah, but I don't see what this all has to do with Merlin's lack of a finger."

"It means that you'll probably have to seek out your cousins for training, and Raven, you'll need to train with us when and if this happens. Luckily, we have a Le Fay in our reigon." Merlin said, sliding her glove back on.

Okay, I'm pausing you here, cause I can't afford to let you go into lecturing mode right now, the battery is low, and it'll die if you keep talking for too much longer.

Fine. Next time I'll continue this lecture, as you call it.
