Fear of the Unknown
Laying under her warm duvet, Anastasiya sighed. She wasn't in the mood for preparing herself and starting the day. Elijah's death had rattled her to no return. She finally meets a man from her dreams and he's killed off by the villain-hero character. Her life had been turned into a sope opera the moment a vampire had stepped in it, and it had happened twice in two lifetimes. Anastasia felt a weird longing towards Elijah and the thought of him still alive, and something inside of her knew that wasn't the last time she'd see him. Her mind and heart were conflicted on whether to morn or wait it out until he showed up again.
Her mobile phone started to buzz against the grey nightstand, causing the platinum blonde to groan out a complaint. She rolled to the side, grabbed her phone, and snuggled back into the bed as she answered the call.
"Hey," Elena's voice greeted through the phone, getting a weak reply back from Anastasiya, "We need to head over to the boarding house, Stefan said it was important."
The platinum blonde stared around her room for a moment before responding blankly, "Why?" as she covered her face with the duvet.
"I don't know," Elena informed cluelessly, shrugging her shoulders, "he just said it was important."
"Fine," Anastasiya groaned, half-falling from the bed, "but I'm not dressing up for your vampire boyfriend and his brother." She looked down at her attire, analyzing if it was appropriate enough. Matt's old, grey t-shirt hung off her body, covering the fuzzy, cherry-patterned shorts she wore. Nodding, she left the room and made her way to the Gilbert home.

The Salvatore Boarding House door swung open to reveal a smirking, blue eyed Salvatore.
"Hello, Elena, Anastasiya," Damon greeted, individually tipping his head at the two.
"Is Stefan here?" Elena questioned , rudely ignoring the Salvatore's greeting and walking straight into the house "He called. He said it was important."
Anastasiya stepped inside after Damon waved her in, he closed the door behind her. He looked her up and down, smirking and complementing, "Nice pajamas, fuzzy socks with slides is a very classy choice." Anastasiya gave Damon a sardonic smile as Elena glanced around the parlor, hoping to see Stefan pop up at the mention of his name.
"Right this way," Damon responded, leading the two girls further into the house as if he were a host for a fancy restaurant. Into the living area they went. He sat down onto an old time-y chair without another word. Elena did the same, but Anastasiya walked slowly around, picking up trinkets, pictures, and books to glance at. Damon watched her in amusement, he'd notice that she would do this when given time to kill. He wondered if it was out of curiosity of the brothers' pasts, or pure boredom.
"Hey," Stefan greeted, walking into the room in his usual jeans-and-a-tee attire. Anastasiya turned around expecting for more than just Stefan, who was still stood in the entryway. The only concerning thing was the brooding look on his face, which gravitated her toward the mini bar to make him a drink that he very much needed. Knowing the other brother, she made Damon one as well.
"What's this all about?" Elena asked, readjusting her seat on the couch. Another vampire turns the corner and looks sheepishly at the two girls. Anastasiya set the second glass down at the sight of the vampire and only handed a drink to Damon.
"You..." Anastasiya mumbled, glancing at the girl from her standing spot beside the older Salvatore.
~
"Okay," Rose began, leaning with her arms on her knees, "you have to understand I only know what I've picked up over the years and I don't know what's true and what's not true. It's the problem with all this vampire crap but Klaus, I know he's real."
"Who is he?" Elena pressed, leaning in toward Rose and absentmindedly playing with the fabric of t-shirt in the spot her necklace used to be.
Damon leaned slightly into the conversation, replying, "He's one of the originals, he's a legend."
"From the first generation of vampires," Stefan added, giving a reassuring look to Elena, who seemed a little off her game.
"Like... Elijah?" Elena guessed, causing Anastasiya look up from the leather-back book she had been reading on a single person chair.
"No," Rose objected, catching everyone's attention and intensifying the conversation, "Elijah was the Easter bunny compared to Klaus. He's a foot soldier. Klaus is the real deal." Anastasiya chuckled, flipping through the pages of the book cooly. Everyone threw a quizzical look toward the girl. She wasn't really sure of her reason as to why it was hard to fully believe Rose's statement, but she knew it was false.
Stefan, looking away from Anastasiya, added, "Klaus is known to be the oldest." Scoffing, the platinum blonde shook her head. She kept her eyes on the book, contemplating the gut feeling she had about the vampires' grapevine information.
"Is there something we don't know, Ana?" Damon questioned with a grave expression, crossing his arms at the girl, who finally set eyes on her friends.
"I just..." -she ran her hand under a page of the book nervously- "you have it wrong." Anastasiya attempted to ignore Damon's glare, downcasting her eyes into the middle of the book.
"How would you know?" he countered, grabbing the book from her lap and placing it in his, his hands resting over it. He glanced at the title briefly, reading: "The Call of the Wild." Anastasiya said nothing, not sure of the correct response.
Rose peeked at Elena, and then looked toward Damon, explaining, "Elijah acted as if he knew her." Needing a conformation, the Salvatores looked toward Elena, who nodded.
"You knew Elijah?" Stefan softly interrogated, taking on the role of 'good cop.'
"No-" Anastasiya shook her head, looking Stefan in the eyes, "Yes-Well..." She looked toward the brunette doppelgänger for help, but Elena just furrowed her brows and blinked. "Elena, do you remember that guy in my dreams I was talking about? And his siblings?"
Elena gasped, sitting up and wondering, "You think they're them, those people from your dreams are Elijah and Klaus?" Anastasiya nodded, causing Elena to give her a peculiar look.
Rose, looking in between Stefan and Damon, suggested, "Can someone fill me in?" Both brothers gave helpless expressions, not knowing the context either.
"Anastasiya thinks she's lived more than one life," Elena explained, gaining odd looks from the vampires, "one where Klaus and Elijah were her friends, and even more-"
"Don't forget their siblings..." Anastasiya cut in, afraid of what the vampires might say to her affiliation with one of the originals.
Rose scoffed, "You knew all the originals? Impossible."
"Fine," Anastasiya sat back into the chair, "don't believe me, but eyes don't deceive. You know what you saw."
"Wait-" Elena stopped, blinking and looking up at Rose, "So what you're saying is that one of Anastasiya's dream vampires is coming after me?"
"Yes," the female vampire answered simply, which was followed by the opposite response from Stefan.
"What they're saying is," Damon slowly concluded, "I mean if what she's saying is true..."
"Which it is," Rose declared, pointing her finger.
"Not all of it..." Anastasiya grumbled to herself, all the vampires in the room catching her comment.
Damon continued anyways, "And you're not saying it so a I won't kill you."
"Which I'm not," Rose said truthfully, annoyed with Damon's reluctance.
"Then we're looking at a solid maybe."
Stefan, noticing Elena's rigid position, peacefully reasoned, "Look, Elijah's dead, right? So no one else even knows that you-" he looked toward Elena "-exist."
Anastasiya made an unsure sound as Rose voiced, "Not that you know of," both of the girls responding to Stefan's comment.
"That's not helping," Damon spat, looking between the two knowledgeable ladies.
"And you're an idiot, Damon, what else is new?" Anastasiya jabbed, having enough of the Salvatore's babying of Elena and their throwing of everyone else into the pit of fire. The platinum blonde, slowly, began to realize what Caroline had tried to tell her all along about their brunette friend.
Damon grasped for the book in his lap "Why, I-"
"Look," -Stefan interrupted before Damon could throw the book back at Anastasiya- "I've never even met anyone who's laid eyes on him. I mean, we're talking centuries of truth mixed with fiction. We don't know if he's real. For all we know he could just be some sort of stupid bed time story." Giggling, the platinum sat back in her chair and looked toward Rose, knowing she had an answer. Anastasiya, her self, didn't really know the answer in the back of her mind, all she knew is that she knew they were real.
"He's real and he doesn't give up. If he wants something, he gets it. If you're not afraid of Klaus, then you're an idiot," recounted the female vampire, to which Anastasiya replied of how she wasn't scared of Klaus, this unknown man, at all.
"No wonder," Damon teased, watching as the platinum blonde rolled her eyes at him. "We're shaking, Rose, you've made your point."
The conversation had come to an end there, Elena leaving for school with a following Anastasiya.
~
"We're not actually going to school..." Anastasiya realized as Elena turned the wrong corner in her car. The brunette looked over will a small, innocent smile and shook her head. As her eyes refocused on the road, Anastasiya asked, "Why?"
"There's only one person that has the full scoop on what we're up against.". The brunette gave a sly smile to her friend, who groaned and slouched her body into the passenger seat.
"Katherine? Oh, please. Elena, take me home," Anastasiya begged, putting an arm over her eyes to shield them from the blinding sun seeping in through the windshield. Off Elena's disapproving look, she added, "You can fill me in later, yeah?"
~
Her laughed echoed through the giant, white house. Barely any furniture accompanied the house other than one simple couch and a bed.
"You shouldn't spend all this money on me," Anastasiya gushed, "I would've been fine with a short ballad." He smiled lovingly at her, pulling her close by the hands.
"A love letter would be better than a house?" he teased, his face radiation with amusement and joy.
"I'm a simple gal," she deadpanned, paying with his hands in hers. "I don't need riches to be in love."
"In love?" His wide-eyed expression made Anastasiya stutter, all of her muscles tensing and her mind going blank. He smiled softly at her, putting a hand to her cheek and soothing, "You haven't scared me off, I'm still here."
