Anastasiya followed behind the curly haired man as he guided her through his new home. He had a secret to tell her, but he wouldn't say what it was until they were sat in the living room and away from his siblings' rooms down the hall.

"Can I trust you not to leave me?" Anastasiya nodded at the man wearily, wondering why he'd think such a thing about her. Was the secret as bad as he made it out to be or was it worse? "I..." he turned away for a moment, Anastasiya grabbed his hand instinctively to comfort him, "I'm a vampire." She didn't even have a chance to laugh before he turned back around and she saw his veiny face and sharp fangs. Anastasiya stiffened, unable to utter a thing. She was astonished and frightened, but felt as if he'd never hurt her. She knew him then, but now she knew everything about him. It gave her peace in a way, the thought of him being able to trust her with such a big secret.

"What about your siblings?" She seemed oddly coolheaded about the revelation. The man across from her wondered if it was from shock, or if she was truly okay with his truth.

"Please don't be afraid, Stasi, my love," he pleaded gently, watching as she glanced at the veins under his eyes. Anastasiya had found a way to make the man feel bad about his crimes, she brought out the good in him that not many saw.

"I'll never leave you," Anastasiya promised, holding him by the cheek. He leaned into her touch, feeling relieved and silly for thinking she would leave.

Anastasiya woke up to Elena shaking her frantically. She opened one eye first, and then the other, glaring at the girl for disrupting her dream. When she noticed how frightened Elena was, though, she sat up and tried to remember the evens from before she was asleep. Anastasiya remembered, and looked quickly around the room, trying to find an escape.

"Elena, are you okay?" Anastasiya questions, looking the girl over for any new wounds.

"Come with me," Elena directs, grabbing the platinum blonde's hand and guiding her to another room. There is a woman Anastasiya had never seen before with short brown hair.

"Why are we here?" Elena questioned, walking further into the room as Anastasiya stood a a little behind.

"You keep asking me these questions like I'm gonna answer them," the woman sighs, looking at the two girls.

"Why don't you?" Anastasiya questions sassily, crossing her arms and leaning against the entryway.

"That's another one," the woman pointed out, watching as both the doppelgänger and her friend rolled their eyes.

"You got us, okay? It's not like we can go anywhere. The least you can do is tell us what you want with us," Elena reasons, waving a white flag.

"I personally want nothing; I'm just a delivery service. Your friend was the plus one," the accented woman explained, bored with the two humans.

"Delivery to who? Elijah?" Elena pushes on, hoping to get an answer from the woman. Anastasiya furrowed her brows at the brunette's comment, she wondered who this man was and how Elena knew his name.

"Two points to the eavesdropper," the woman dully joked.

"Who is he?" Anastasiya questioned, trying to understand where the name 'Elijah' had come from, "Is he a vampire?"

"He's one of the vampires, the originals," the woman answered, her mouth in a smirk but her eyes full of fear.

"What do you mean 'the originals?'" Elena questioned, eyeing the woman suspiciously.

"Again with the questions. Haven't the Salvatores been teaching you your vampire history?" the woman inquired, annoyed with how clueless the two girls were.

Anastasiya laughed, "The Salvatores didn't even know about werewolves until a few days ago. You know about werewolves, don't you?" The woman nodded, both to answer the question and show that she understood why the girls weren't good with vampire history.

"You know Stefan and Damon?" Elena catechized, becoming more and more confused with the woman in front of her. If she knew the Salvatores, why was she willingly handing Elena over to another vampire?

The woman nodded, simply answering, "I know of them. A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys though, but I digress."

Anastasiya bluntly butted in, "Enough of the small talk. Who are the originals?"

"Trevor and I have been running for 500 years. We're tired, we want it over. We're using Elena to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess," the woman revealed, gaining confused looks from the girls. Anastasiya wondered who Trevor was, was he a boyfriend, a brother, or, perhaps, a best friend?

Elena voiced her questioning thoughts aloud, "But why me?"

"Because you're a Petrova Doppelgänger. You're the key to breaking the curse," the woman admitted, watching as Elena's eyes widened. Anastasiya payed no mind, smoothing her red dress with her hands. A rip was noticeable at the bottom right of the skirt, she concluded that it had appeared when she was kidnapped.

"The curse? The sun and moon curse?" Elena wondered, gaining a surprised look from the vampire.

Amused, the woman commented, "Oh, you do know your history."

"What do you mean I'm the key? The moonstone is what breaks the curse," Elena pointed out, thinking she was smarter than the vampire.

"No," the woman tutted, "the moonstone is what binds the curse. The sacrifice-" she motioned toward the doppelgänger, "-is what binds it."

"The sacrifice?" Elena gulped, playing with the end of her purple sleeve.

"The blood of the doppelgänger. You're the doppelgänger. Which means, in order to break the curse you're the one who has to die," the woman calmly explained as if she hadn't declared Elena's death was soon.

"Why send Elena off to be killed when you have two better options?" Anastasiya questioned finally entering the room fully, gaining the vampire's attention.

"And what might those be?" The woman was intrigued with Anastasiya's cool manner.

"Well," the platinum blonde looked at her still-perfect nails, "there's always the option of eating her-" Elena gave a scared glance to Anastasiya, who waved her off, "but what would be really great is for you to let her go and save her."

The woman grimaced and shook her head, "We've learned better than to help a doppelgänger."

"But Elena isn't Katherine!" Anastasiya exclaimed, walking further into the room and gesturing her arms to the human doppelgänger.

"So I've heard," the vampire muttered, "but that won't get Trever and me off the hook."

"Tell me more about the curse," Elena demands, trying to steer the subject away from negotiations for now.

"Captivity has made her pushy, eh?" a man with shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes states as he walks into the room. Anastasiya suspected this was Trevor. "What do you want to know, doppelicous?"

"Who are you running from?" Elena interrogates, turning to Trevor at the door.

"The originals," he responds, an almost unnoticeable frown on his face.

"Yeah," Anastasiya crosses her arms over her chest and motioned her head to the woman, "she said that. What exactly does that mean?"

"The first family, the old world. Rose and I-" Ah, her name is Rose, Anastasiya took note "- pissed then off."

"Mm-mmm," Rose scolded, shaking her head.

Trever pointed to the air, "Correction, I pissed them off, Rose had my back and for over half a millennium, they've wanted us dead."

"What did you do?" Elena wondered, giving Anastasiya a worried look before focusing back on Trevor and Rose.

"He made the same mistake countless others did: he trusted Katerina Petrova," Rose explained, causing Trevor to nod in agreement.

"Katherine," Elena and Anastasiya said in unison, both of their voices filled with disgust.

"The one and only, the first Petrova Doppelgänger," Rose went on, thinking of the infamous doppelgänger and her annoyingly sly ways.

"I helped her escape her fate and now I've, sorry, we've been marked ever since," Trevor uncovered. Elena frowned at the thought of Katherine betraying yet another poor guy, using him and his feelings for her own gain.

"That's why you won't help Elena, you need to make amends and fix your mistakes," Anastasiya pointed out, putting two and two together to make a whole. Rose and Trevor nodded in sync.

After a while of silence with Rose and Trevor, the two girls made their way back into the room the woke up in. Sitting on the dirty couch, the two heard a crinkle. Both girls stood and Elena was quick to grab the paper on her seat. In fear of the other vampires hearing her, Elena handed the note to Anastasiya.

'Stefan and Damon are coming for you - B'

The two girls smiled hopefully at each other, glad to know that the Salvatores knew of their whereabouts. Anastasiya was proud of Bonnie for working it's Stefan and Damon to get a common goal.

Rose, Elena, and Anastasiya were all in the back room, waiting in silence until Trevor burst in.

"He's here! This was a mistake," he frantically announces, scrunching his hair out of stress and fear.

"No," Rose went up to comfort him, "I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me."

"No! He wants me dead, Rose!" Trevor threw Rose's hands of his shoulders and paced back and forth.

"He wants her more!" Rose countered, pointing directly at Elena, who cowered back.

"I can't do this. You give her to him, he'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here," Trevor announced, and just as he went to move, Rose grabbed him by the shoulders and barked, "Hey! What are we?"

"We're family, forever," Trevor sighed, deciding to stay with Rose, his only true friend, until the end. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Neither Rose nor Trever made a move to open it, they both glanced at each other fearfully.

"You're scared," Elena realized, watching as Trevor glared.

"Stay here with her and don't make a sound," Rose instructed at her friend, leaving the room to answer the door.

A few minutes pass before Rose reenters the room with Elijah, causing Trevor to sigh in relief for his friend had not perished. Anastasiya stood beside Trevor, who Elijah decide to ignore. Elena turned around quickly to face the vampire, having heard his steps. She looked fearfully at him, his surprised face still scaring her. He rushed up to her, and smelt her neck.

"Human," he breathed out in astonishment, "It's impossible. Hello there." Elijah turned to give a proud glance at Rose when he froze halfway. He stopped and stared at Anastasiya, who stared just as equally confused. She recognized him for sure, but from where.

"Do I know you?" she pondered, her voice at a whisper, a question only meant for herself. Anastasiya searched her mind to put a memory to his face, but to no avail. She stared at him, knowing his face, but nothing else. Elijah blinked a few times, trying to see if old age had finally gotten to his eyes or mind.

"Anastasiya?" he whispered, causing Elena to gasp behind him. How did he know her name? Anastasiya was lost on why she couldn't figure out how she knew this man, Elijah. "She was telling the truth..."

"Who was telling the truth?" Anastasiya asked, walking closer to the man, "Who are you? Why do I know you?"

Elijah turned back around toward Elena, clapped his hands, and announced, "We have a long journey head of us. We should be going," as if nothing had happened.

Elena glanced over at Rose and cried, "Please, don't let him take me."

"One last piece of business and we're done," Elijah informed, walking closer to Trevor.

Trevor fearfully started to kiss up to the original, "I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry." Elijah begins to circle Trevor like a lion with its prey.

"Oh no, your apology's not necessary," Elijah brushed off calmly, but Anastasiya could tell there was an underlying meaning to his words, like she had heard him talk that way before.

"Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you," Trevor insisted, keeping his hands together in a plea.

"Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal-" he looked to Rose for a moment "-to you and that I honor. Where was your loyalty?" Elijah quizzed, his cool tone coming off as threatening and angry as he stopped in front of Trevor.

"I beg your forgiveness," Trevor whispered slowly, this being the first time he looked Elijah in the eyes.

"So granted," Elijah pardoned, watching as the younger vampire smiled in relief. The original smiled back before swinging his arm and chopping Trevor's head clean from his body, drops of blood littering the floor and flying through the air. Rose grabbed her heart and cried out in pain. Elena gasped, covering he mouth and watching as the body fell.

"You-" she stumbled foreword, never taking her eyes off of Trevor's headless body. Anastasiya wiped blood from her face in disgust.

"Don't, Rose, now that you are free," Elijah warns, watching as Rose struggles to breathe properly.

"Wait!" Anastasiya called out, causing Elijah to turn her way and frown, "You're-" The vampire's mouth turned up into a small smile and he nodded. "but-"

"I'm not quite sure, Anastasiya," Elijah answered her question before she could even say it, causing Elena to be at a loss with their, practically, mental conversation.

"Come," Elijah turned back around and beckoned for Elena, who stood still.

"No, what about the moonstone," she mentioned, trying to bargain for her life.

Elijah glanced at Anastasiya in question for a moment before debriefing Elena, "What do you know about the moonstone?"

"I know that you need it and I know where it is," Elena went on, although she saw Anastasiya's protesting motions behind Elijah.

"Yes?" he challenged, raising a curios eyebrow at the doppelgänger.

"I can help you get it," Elena offers, watching as Elijah cocks his head.

"Tell me where it is," he commands, gaining a frown from Elena.

"That's not how it works," she dares, watching him scoff.

"Are you negotiating with me?" he rhetorically asks, turning to Rose for an explanation.

"It's the first I've heard of it," she admits, still unraveled by previous events. Elijah turns to compel Elena, but stops when he notices the familiar necklace around her neck.

"What is this vervain doing around your neck?" Elijah wondered, gripping the necklace.

"Elijah, don't!" Anastasiya pleaded, causing him to stop for a moment. Elena wondered why he'd obey her. He quickly ripped the necklace from Elena's body and threw it across the room. Anastasiya wasn't sure why, but she knew Elijah was not only mad about the vervain.

He grabs Elena and looks her dead in the eye, compelling, "Tell me where the moonstone is."

"In the tomb, underneath the church ruins," Elena replied monotonously.

"What's it doing there?" he compelled once more.

"It's with Katherine," Elena complied, unable to resist.

"Interesting," Elijah stated, letting go of Elena and looking back over to Anastasiya, "How-" The sound of glass being broken on the second flood made Elijah stop and listen.

"What is that?" he looked toward Rose, who looked clueless.

"I don't know."

"Who else is in this house?" he persists, looking around the room.

"I don't know," Rose responds slowly.

Elijah grabs Elena forcefully by the forearm and quickly walks over to Anastasiya, grabbing her hand and pulling the two from the room, Rose following behind. Two blurs super speed around them, creating great gusts of wind. Elijah handed the two girls off to Rose.

"Rose..." Elijah warned, looking at the vampire behind him.

"I don't know who it is," she honestly claimed.

"Up here!" Stefan's voice could be heard from the second floor. Elijah sped up the stairs, but stops when he hears another taunting voice: "Down here!"

A stake flys through the middle of Elijah's hand, which seemed to not hurt at all as he easily pulled it out and looks toward the bottom of the stairs, all three girls had disappeared. Anastasiya stands with Stefan and Elena on the second floor as Stefan puts his finger to his mouth, silencing them.

"Excuse me," Elijah calls out as he paces at the bottom of the stairs, "To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" He rips a wooden coat rack from the floor, ready to use it as a stake, and continues, "I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girls, I'm gonna count to three or heads will roll-" he rips the top of the coat rack, making the wood sharp "-Do we understand each other?"

"I'll come with you, just please don't hurt my friends, they just wanted to help me out," Elena announced from the top of the stairs, holding her injured arm. Elijah vamp sped to her, causing Elena to gasp in fright.

"What game are you playing with me?" he wondered, watching her closely. She moved her arm and throws a vervain grenade at his face, jumping out of the way. Elijah screamed in pain, doubling over and holding his face. He looked up at her furiously, his face burnt and scarred and quickly healing. Elena panted in fear, sitting on the ground. He stomped up the stairs towards her, but Stefan ran down and shot him with wooden bullets, seeming to have no effect whatsoever. He decided that his original plan wasn't working and tackled Elijah down the stairs. Anastasiya ran down to Elena, pulling her up from the ground and turning to watch Stefan and Elijah.

Once they reach the bottom of the stairs, Elijah stood with super speed and looking challengingly down at Stefan. He started to go toward the Salvatore, when another appeared. Damon came around the corner and staked Elijah through he heart with the coat hanger. The original grinned in pain, gasping for air.

"Elijah!" Anastasiya cried out in pain, everyone in the room confused as to why as Damon rams the dying Elijah into the wall. His head drops and his skin turns grey and veiny. Rose stared in fear for a moment before vampire speeding away, Damon ready to follow before Elena protest. Anastasiya dashes down the stairs and pushed past Damon to see Elijah's dead body. She stopped next to him, lifting his lifeless head. She stared at his grey face in sorrow. Anastasiya tried to pull the stake from his heart, but it was only in vein. A tear dropped down her face and she made no effort to while it away. Why had she felt so sentimental to the man who would eventually kill her best friend, why had she cared for a man who she'd only met that day? She pondered how she knew him, but didn't at the same time. Anastasiya mourned Elijah all throughout the ride home, staying silent as she watched the world pass by, not even making a quip at any of Damon's stupid remarks. The Salvatore's and doppelgänger shared weird looks, wondering why the platinum blonde cared so much for the vampire.
