Jeongguk was anticipating and wondering whether his online friend would show up at Hoseok's house, which was in general way larger than his and Taehyung's apartment. It started off well, they played games and did some real crazy shit, which most of them wouldn't be able to recollect the next morning.

As the countdown started, Jeongguk's heart rate increased, Taeyang still hadn't arrived and it was oddly unsatisfying. Maybe he was on his way? Maybe he should stop his friends from being so excited and wait a little longer for the new year to arrive, though it wasn't possible, seeing the smile on each of their faces made him relieved about the fact that at least he wasn't alone.

It felt like that slow motion part in a movie where the main character is either too happy or something drastic is about to happen. Jeongguk fell in the first category, he was in a trance, smiling at Jimin who held his beer can up high and giggled when Yoonji kissed him. Hoseok did some weird dance before rolling on the grass, making everyone giggle. Yoongi and Namjoon sang a song and Jin did some beatboxing. They all looked so happy, something so perfect and pure to be captured, the moment felt unreal, and so the youngest of them all pulled up his camera.

A hand flung around Jeongguk's shoulder before he could take a picture, making him look to his right. Taehyung was staring at the moon with biggest smile on his face, waiting for the fire crackers to go off. His eyes were sparkling brighter than any star above their heads or in the space.

Jeongguk thought that he looked ethereal. Mesmerising. Beautiful. He slowly lifted up his camera and snapped the picture.

"Happy New Year.", everyone cheered, except Jeongguk, who's drunk eye were busy finding peace in someone else's. Taehyung turned his head to look at him and his breath hitched. Both the males thought that it was the best way to start off their new years, staring at someone who was so innocently perfect.

Taehyung moved forward and for a second Jeongguk thought that he was going to kiss him until he felt another arm go around his waist and a chin plop comfortably on his shoulder, "Happy new year gukkie."

Jeongguk closed his eyes and breathed in the older's scent, not saying it back, wanting to hear more of Taehyung's voice.

"Let's start new... let's be best friends again."

Jeongguk opened his eyes when the hug got stronger, him fighting the urge of wrapping his own arms around the older and make it perfect.

"I know what I did in past was wrong, I shouldn't hav-", Jeongguk pushed him away as tears rolled down his red chubby cheeks, "Fuck. Off. Taehyung.", he managed to spat before standing up and walking inside the house, leaving the older dumbfounded in the lawn.

"Jeon!", Taehyung called out as he realised what had happened before rushing inside, following the younger. He went through the living room, searching every corner of the kitchen, bedroom, guest room, bathroom, and finally attic, where he found the younger curled up over a small worn out blanket, shivering and crying.

"Gukkie! Hey!", Taehyung rushed towards him, picked his body up, placed him on his lap, and started cradling him, "Baby, it's okay"

"P-P-please go a-away.", Jeongguk breathed out clutching onto the older's thick hoodie, not actually wanting him to leave, "I hate you."

"Hush!", Taehyung smiled sadly and stroked his back, "You know, best friends are supposed to say each other secrets... I have been wanting to tell you something for a while."

Jeongguk sniffled and pushed his head deeper in Taehyung's chest, "W-What is it?"

"I'll tell you only if you agree on being my best friend.", Taehyung said with a smile

"You have Jimin, he's your best friend.", Taehyung placed a soft kiss on Jeongguk's hair, "I can have two best friends."

"No! That's the violation of rule 5."

Taehyung chuckled realising that Jeongguk still remembered the rules they had created when they were younger, rules of best-friendship, to keep their bond strong.

"I don't remember that rule baby.", "No other best-friend, to Taehyungie and gukkie, promise to stay forever.", Jeongguk pulled away and rolled down his socks.

Taehyung felt his insides churn as he brought his cold fingers down to trace the tattoo on Jeongguks ankle that read, "Taeguk ♾ Forever"

"W-when did you get that?", "In high school, after you ditched me on our field trip." Jeongguk pouted and by now Taehyung was sure that the younger was totally wasted, why else would he show him such an old tattoo?, "Why didn't you show this to me earlier?", "Gukkie was sad."

"Oh baby, I'm sorry.", Jeongguk shook his head, "You started being mean after that."

"I know love, I-", "You slept with my girlfriend.", Jeongguk started crying again, "You're mean.. I want Taeyang."

Taehyung froze.

"I want Taeyang.", Jeongguk continued sobbing like a child, "I want Taeyang.", he punched Taehyung's chest repeatedly while muttering the same thing again and again.

"Gukkie..", Taehyung held the youngers hands in his and looked straight in his eyes, with the softest expression he has ever shown to anyone, "Will you be my best friend?"

"No"

"I will bring you rainbow ice cream from the unicorn garden.", Jeongguk's eyes grew wide, a memory of him asking Taehyung to be his best friend rolling through his head, "please?", the older pouted and batted his lashes, "Please gukkie."

Jeongguk looked away with red cheeks, "Only if you let me come with you to the unicorn garden.", Taehyung nodded hurriedly, "I will."

Jeongguk giggled and nodded, "Okay..", he looked at Taehyung, who was already staring at him fondly, making him wonder what the brunette was thinking.

The silence in the air felt so comfortable that Jeongguk felt like drowning in it, until, "Can I kiss you?"

His eyes grew big and his heart beat fastened, "W-what?", "Can I kiss you?", Jeongguk's cheeks were burning, a deep shade of scarlet painted beautifully over them, he looked down and the moon light fell on his eyelashes, perfect enough to make him look like an unreal portrait painted with love and heavenly elegant grace. He felt like the 8th wonder of world to Taehyung, and all he wanted to do was kiss him till the sun arises.

"Best friends don't kiss each other.", Taehyung moved his head forward until their lips were barely touching, "Now they do."
