Back in the squad car Louis and Jax spend the day driving from a scene and another interview, they chat with each other and Louis notices that Jax asks a lot of questions but he guesses he just wants to get to know him.

"So there's obviously something going on between you, Scott and Harry or was I reading to much into that exchange" Jax asks boldly

Louis sighs

"There's nothing going on, we used to date, that's about it" Louis says not wanting to go in to anything

"So you're single then?" Jax then asks

"I guess" Louis shrugs

"Good to know" Jax smirks.

Louis doesn't know if Jax is hitting on him or what but Louis doesn't like it, he smiles and goes back to looking out the window.

"So what about you?You've been in the job 10 years?" Louis asks 

Louis sees Jax tense, but try to play it off

"Yep 10 years, seems like a lifetime" Jax says

"Have you always worked homicide?" Louis asks

"Yep, what I always wanted to do" Jax smiles,

"Why did you leave your area?" Louis asks

"Just wanted a change" Jax says

He then turns the conversation back on Louis and they chat some more. Louis doesn't quite understand what's up with Jax but he guesses at all part of getting to know a new partner.

Once their shift is over Louis doesn't have time to head back to the hotel, he goes straight to Harry and Scott's. He's not sure if it's such a good idea but if Louis is honest with himself he is looking forward to seeing Harry and Scott, even if it's just so he can pick up his stuff.

When he arrives Scott buzzes him up the elevator, Louis not wanting to use his code just because he can, they probably changed it anyway. When the doors open Harry and Scott are standing their waiting for him. In all their glory. Tanned, muscly, tattoos, sweats and no shirt. Just how Louis misses them being.

"Hi darling" Scott smiles his tension easing as he lays eyes on Louis.

"Hi" Louis says sighing shyly

"Why didn't you just use your code darling?" Harry asks confused

"Ummm, because I don't live here anymore" Louis says more of a question

Scott and Harry sigh

"Why have you just finished work, it's late?" Scott then asks

"I haven't finished, I have time to come here, go back to my hotel shower, maybe eat and go back out on patrol" Louis answers

The boys go to say something before they choose not to, they don't want to fight with Louis and there isn't really anything they can do about the situation right now. They just need Louis to talk to them

"Well, we made you dinner" Harry says as he smiles ushering for Louis to come inside

"You didn't have to, I thought I was just picking up my stuff" Louis says

"We wanted to have a chat Lou, if that's alright" Scott says as they lead Louis inside to the lounge room, the boys sit down and Louis does too, with hesitance

The smell of the apartment is bringing back so many memories and Louis chest aches, he just hopes he can last this whole conversation without crying or getting emotional.

"Look, I don't really want to go through everything right now, I really don't think I can emotionally handle your rejection again. I know you don't love me and it's okay. I'm  embarrassed enough just admitting that, I'll make it easy, I'm not asking for half of anything even though I know I'm entitled to it. I'll remove myself off the insurance and the bank accounts next week, I just haven't had time to do it yet" Louis says anxiously

Harry and Scott's hearts sink, that Louis would think that's even close to what they want to talk about.

"No Louis, please, please don't do that" Harry asks vulnerably

Louis looks at Harry and Scott questionably

"We didn't ask you here to talk about that stuff, or for you to pick up your clothes and everything. We asked you hear to apologise" Harry starts

"I told you you don't need to Harry" Louis says frustratingly

"We do Louis, for a lot of things, but mostly for the fact that we've let you belive the last few years and these last few weeks that we don't love you" Scott says

"We have been the most shit partners to you Louis, but we are hoping you might give us another chance" Harry says

Louis sits there stunned

"Wha? I'm so confused.... what?" Louis asks

"We didn't realise how badly we were treating you and we are just so sorry for that Louis. You deserve so much better than us and it took you nearly dying for us to realise what terrible partners we've been" Scott says

"We love you so fucking much Louis, and we always have. You are absolutely everything to us and we are so ashamed at taking you for granted" Harry says

"We have had a huge wake up call and you leaving has absolutely ripped our hearts out but we understand why you had to go, we are the ones who need to apologise, we are so so sorry" Scott says.

Louis just looks at Scott snd Harry like a deer in headlights, he did not see this situation going in this direction and doesn't know how to respond

"You don't have to say anything darling, but we just needed you to know that we are sorry and we want you back and we will do everything in our power to make you realise how much we love you and want you to be ours again" Harry says

"I.....I don't....understand, so you love me?" Louis asks making sure he's hearing correctly

"Of course we love you baby and we thought we were doing a good job at showing you, which we definitely weren't" Harry says

"No that's not all true, you do.....I mean did I just....felt like i wasn't enough, that you two had each other and I was always the one disappointing you and I thought you fell out of love with me" Louis says

"No Louis and we are idiots for ever making you think or feel that" Harry says

"Harry and I have always struggled with showing emotion and when we fell in love with you, we were overcome with so many deep feelings and we pushed them aside because it was so overwhelming. We realise now how much of a mistake that was" Scott says

"Well I haven't exactly been the best partner either, I didn't want you to think I needed you, needed you to show me you loved me because I was so scared you would leave me. I didn't want to lose you. I wanted whatever parts of you I could get and if that meant I had to suppress my feelings and put myself last than that's what I did and I'm sorry too" Louis says

"We cannot say sorry enough baby, for every making you think you needed to do that. We understand that you had to leave for the sake of you and we are proud of you for putting yourself first in that situation. We would really like you to come back home now though, we've missed you and don't want you to leave" Harry says vulnerably

"I....I really appreciate you setting things straight and actually communicating how you feel, that's really all I've ever wanted. I just...think we should maybe try to start over? I don't know. I don't think it's a good idea for me to move back in and everything to go back to the way it was" Louis says looking down, he doesn't want Harry and Scott to be upset at him or yell at him.

"Okay, if that's what you want baby, that's what we can do, we are going to show you how much  we love you and spoil you rotten" Scott says

Louis smiles and looks at the boys from behind his lashes. He really hopes what they say is true. 

Louis radio then goes off disrupting their conversation.

"We have another job Lou, I'll pick you up" Jax says

"I'm not at home I'll send you the address through, I'll meet you on the street in 5" Louis responds

"Sounds good" Jax says

Louis looks towards Harry and Scott sympathetically and texts Jax the address

"I guess dinner will have to wait" Scott says sadly

"Sorry" Louis says

"It's really not your fault Lou" Harry says

Louis stands up to get ready to leave,

Scott goes to the kitchen and grabs Louis dinner, they put some aside it in a takeaway container in case Louis was called away.  He grabs it off the counter and follows Harry and Louis to the front door.

Louis turns around when he gets to the door, facing Scott and Harry

"Here, just please eat" Scott says as he hands Louis the container.

Louis half smiles nods

"Thanks for making me dinner" Louis says

"Anytime darling" Harry smiles

"Louis, before you go..." Scott says

"Yeah?" Louis asks shyly

"Please, can we kiss you" Scott asks and he sounds hesitant, needy and vulnerable

"I..." Louis says

He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, he would be lying if he said he didn't want that, god he's missed the boys so much and he craves their touch.

Before he is able to open his eyes he feels Harry's lips on his. Louis responds instantly and he returns the kiss, there are butterfly's in his stomach and fireworks throughout his body. He's pushed up against the wall and Scott then takes over the kiss. Things turn heated quickly and they kiss heatedly between them.

Harry and Scott are on cloud nine, completely blissed out. Kissing Louis is all they want, to have him in their arms again.

They pull back knowing Louis has to leave, they are all a panting mess and Louis hair is completely askew, the boys think he looks edible

"Please be safe" Harry says as he rests his forehead on Louis

"Always" Louis says half smiling

"Louis, we mean it, we don't trust Jax and we want you to know we are keeping tabs on him" Scott says

Louis looks towards Scott

"I should be upset but I'm not, I don't trust him either, I just don't know why" Louis says

"We will do our best to get you off homicide as soon as we can. We will keep you safe okay" Scott says

Louis looks at Scott and Harry confused

"Okay, I don't know what's going on but thanks" Louis says

They smile at each other and Louis's phone dings letting him know Jax is downstairs waiting for him.

"I'll see you soon" Louis says and he leaves the apartment
